OLV is a wonderful school and community. We could not be happier as parents and our children are happy and thriving. The small class sizes allow for individualized support. Additionally, the small class sizes allow for the classes to really function as a unit; we see our children interacting with ALL students which really creates a family like enviornment. OLV is a diverse school and while it is Catholic based, it is welcoming to all faiths. My children are not Catholic and we have never felt that this mattered.

OLV has a very strong academic program and students are successful. The teachers and principal really make an effort to get to know each individual child. In middle school, the students are really guided into high school and very well prepared for their high school years.

OLV really prides itself on encouraging its students to be their best possible selves and being kind and caring members of society. High standards are set, both academically and socially. Within the academic day, students are expected to respect each other and the school. I find OLV students to be very nice to one another and you'll often see younger students interacting with older students and vice versa- it really is just a sweet community of learners and educators working together.

Upon selecting OLV my two concerns were only one class per grade and lack of a playground; both of these concerns quickly turned into assets. By having one class per grade, the children really get to know everyone and learn to work together as a whole; this transitions easily into each grade, allowing teachers to focus on more learning and less behavior management. It is common to attend birthday parties with the entire class and/or see children engaging with large groups (versus small clicks). While OLV might lack a traditional playground, recess is structured so that students can participate in organized activities that rotate throughout the year. This "guided" recess time, albeit self selected, IMO allows for students to interact with other students where they might not in a more traditional playground setting. My kids came from a school with a lovely playground and since attending OLV they have not once complained!

OLV truly is a special place in every way.

We are so happy we found Our Lady of Victory! OLV has been great for both of our kids, even though they are very different learners. The teachers have challenged our natural, dedicated student, while also being willing to help our student who is a creative thinker, but has trouble staying on task. They've given both kids opportunities to shine in different ways. We have also loved the community with active parents and families getting together for monthly social events and CYO sports.

My children have attended Our Lady of Victory for over a decade and I have nothing but positive things to say about the school. The academics are top notch and my children are challenged and will be well-prepared for high school. The teachers are fantastic and care deeply about the students' academic development as well as their social and spiritual development. Most of all, OLV is an incredible community where every teacher and administrator knows all the students by name and the students all know each other. The community is truly holistic in that the students don't only interact on school days -- they see each other at CYO sports and Mass on the weekends. The learn, play, and pray together. I also have a child with learning differences who has been well-supported by the school.

Our kids have greatly benefitted from their OLV education. The school spotted some difficulties one of our children was having with reading that had been dismissed in public school. We are happy that someone noticed it early, and we could get him the help he needed. We have been happy with the communication with his teachers on his progress and know he won't slip through the cracks in such a small class. Our other child would probably perform well academically anywhere, but she has really thrived at OLV. A small school and class size has encouraged her to break out of her shell. We also were pleased to find a real community at the school and have gotten to know our kids' classmates, their parents and the teachers and staff. The Catholic teachings focus on God loving you and you loving your neighbor, and we like the foundation it provides for going out into the world. It is a welcoming, liberal Catholic community.

They are generally excellent teachers. They are, however, constrained by the administration from openly and frankly dialoguing with parents, and thus they may not be able to fully support your child or let you know what their impressions are concerning how your child is developing.

The school actively discriminates against LGBTQ, so there is no compassion in that regard. The students see this, so they presumably would think this behavior is appropriate. That is certainly not the character I want for my child, as it's anathema to compassion.

The administration's approach to running the school is strictly top down, and input from and involvement by parents aren't generally appreciated or permitted. The administration will not support your child if s/he has significant special needs or in puberty begins to discover that s/he is LGBTQ. If the administration begins to notice LGBTQ traits, it will not tell you or allow for that expression. The motto is, "Not here: Don't come out until high school."

If your child has more than a speech impediment (necessitating speech therapy), you'll probably be asked to leave and the school generally won't provide support. There is a resource instructor to help students who may need additional support overcoming temporary delays or just need to catch up.

The school actively refused to support and acknowledge my LGBTQ child. After years of being a student there, my child was effectively forced out. One cannot control whether a child is LGBTQ; that is how God made him/her/they. So I would say the administration bullies, and it also lets parents bully too - I was confronted in the parking lot by an irate parent about how a second grade child had lesbian mothers (that lesbian family left); so with bullying the victim leaves if it's LGBTQ related. Discrimination and bullying make both you and your child angry and resentful.

The school put intolerance before the health of my child. The school does not advocate for compassion and tolerance for those who are marginalized as LGBTQ. If you think LGBTQ will never happen to your family, and are OK with this intolerance, this school will certainly foster that "character" development in your child. But you cannot control whether LGBTQ happens in your family, and if it does you will have to rescue your child out of here hopefully before it's too late.
