Our family is so grateful for Perry Street Prep/ From the moment you walk through the doors, you can feel that its a safe, welcoming environment where every child is known and valued. The staff and teachers genuinely carethey know my child by name and take the time to understand their interests, strengths, and needs.

Perry street is not all that good theres always fights a lot of drama sometimes kids be having weapons on them without anybody, knowing and sometimes kids be carrying smoking supplies like vapes. The boys bathroom always get dirty and the y be breaking the sinks, and they be breaking the stalls sometimes. Sometimes other kids be bullying other kids for being different and making fun of people based off their looks. The learning experience isnt that bad they teach really good in there, but hopefully you have a good teacher who isnt trying to embarrass you or make you feel slow or dumb in front of everybody.

My overall experience at the school were awful. The teachers disrespect the kids they put their hands on these children. They allow other kids to put their hand on these children, they stand their and does nothing. I reported this to the assistant principal and the principal of these teachers doc cave behavior and nothing changed she received no consequence to her actions. It have gotten very out of control in that school. The kids cannot advocate for their selves. They take the children phones they mistreat them and then they take the teacher words on everything. I will never take my child back to the school and I do not recommend anyone else to take their child to the school.

My son and I came into PSP through the Appletree program for PK-4. He is now in First Grade and is literally the little super star of the school. The entire staff including office administration knows and loves my child. He has a personal connection with each and every one of them and they latched onto him from the moment we arrived. It's tough being a single parent but with everyone at PSP I never feel alone. Anything I may need, if it is within their will, THEY WILL do it! I know they care, love and adore my son. There is nothing else a Mom can ask for while entrusting her child to other adults. I care, they care and do everything in their power to be a support system to not only the child but the household as well. We just adjusted through the pandemic together and they were so diligent about the academic, and personal well being of their students. Now that we are back in school, they have expanded their programs and offer countless activities, FOR FREE, for their students to keep everyone engaged. I vouch for this school 100%, from Principal Crouch (Love her), to the all of the administrative staff like Ms. Short, Ms. Valant, Ms. Carr, Ms. Kathy to name just a few and especially the Teachers like Ms. Cagney, Ms. Perry, Ms. Parker, Ms Seagers, Ms. Adam's, Mr. Cole, Mr. Alston, Mr. Golden, Ms. Oliver and so many more... I have so many I could name that are all amazing! The teachers are also amazing talents as well, from singing and musical instruments to athletics to personal video performances for the students. I LOVE PERRY STREET PREP. They believe in our children and support them in every way. Definitely one of the best schools in DC!

This was the worst experience ever! My son lasted at Perry Prep 6 months before I transferred him to another school -out of state. He was just in 5k but the entire set up of the school was chaotic. It was like a zoo in the mornings. They mixed the little kids with the big kids in the cafeteria in the morning. Also, The little kids were sent outside the hallway to the bathrooms that were shared with the older kids. My son told me of awful stories of what occurred in those bathrooms. The teachers were awful and uncaring. Because DC is on a lottery system and there were no openings available until the next school term, Which was months away,, this school is one of the main reason I moved to a new state! I feared for my son's safety and well being every time I left him at this school to go to work. Thank God we are No longer there.

This a loving community school. They are not perfect, but they are definitely not the worst place your child can get an education. The teachers and administrative staff are committed to the scholastic greatness of the children in their care. They have many programs that reach out to not just their scholars but also to their families and the families in the community.

I have been a Perry Street Prep parent since the school was Hyde I have to say since becoming Perry Street Prep I feel as if the school is declining over the last few years I have seen Perry Street Prep replace many staff and teachers who took a genuine concern for the students, with very young and seemingly inexperienced teachers, students test scores have declined and because of low test scores the high school is now closing its doors. This year alone Perry Street Prep has replaced over 50% of its staff which is disconcerting to students and parents. Now a tier 3 school I wonder if Perry Street Prep is actually the college prep school it claims to be. As a parent I loved the fact that all my children could attend school together no matter what grades they were in. Now I feel as if I need to seek out another alternative.

I am a student at Perry St Prep and was also here when it was Hyde. When the school was Hyde it was ran smoothly, the students were like family and the staff seemed like they cared. Now that we have moved to a different building and changed the name nothing really seems the same. It is too crowded, the teachers and head of school are all new and careless, and they are completely unorganized. There is alot of drama that takes place in and outside of school where the police had to be called several times. People may believe that the school is ran as if it were still Hyde but its NOT ! Fortunately I am leaving and its only my 10th grade year.
