Broad Branch Children's House

Broad Branch Children's House in DC not so good for boys. The school struggles with supporting/teaching boys at this early stage of development. The school is bright and very inviting. I was very impressed with the school at first. My son, seemed to be thriving within this setting. This year is my son's second year at the school. I am concern with the school's high level of turnover. Of the 3 staff within my son's class, only the head teacher returned for the second year. Everyone that my son built a relationship with left. 2nd concern: The opportunity for students to access work/learning is driven by age instead of student interest. This approach has totally deflated my son's motivation. Older students unfamiliar with the Montessori climate are enrolled and expected to work well along side students that are familiar with norms and procedures set by the school. This has a negative impact on student behavior. It has been challenging building a relationship with the staff. My nanny continually begs me to take my son out of this school. She describes that staff as cold and uninviting. I am starting to agree.
