The staff make every child feel valued and build an environment that makes my child want to come to school. There is a community focus and a recognition that education does not start when crossing the school threshold. The teachers are great, experienced, and value each child. Many of the student population have inter generational trauma that is not their fault but can be challenging to address at scale. But its acknowledged and supported with wrap around services that offer hope of progress.

We could not recommend Tubman more for their early childhood education. Our daughter attended both PreK 3 and PreK4 and absolutely loved it while learning and really thriving.

Tubman teachers, staff and administration care deeply about their students and work hard to help every student succeed. The school community is warm and caring. Being in an environment with such a divers and multi-faceted student population is a value experience for every student and family. My student loves learning and school and Tubman helps to encourage this positive and fun approach.

We love sending our kids to Tubman. The principal is very active, the teachers have genuine care, enthusiasm, and support for the kids every single day. They take time to talk to the parents about whats going on in the classroom, the PTO is active with hosting events and fundraisers for the school. The teachers are committed to the school and many stay for several years and have on careers at the school. And the parents and families are able to connect in multiple languages, the school will send out documents in Amharic, English, and Spanish, reaching everyone where they are and making sure everyone is included. Highly recommend sending your kids here if you are in boundary.

Both of my kids attend Tubman elementary school and we love it. It is extremely diverse amd full of caring staff. The administration is organized and has been good at communicating with the challenges of Covid. Weve made friends with many Tubman families amd we feel lucky to have it as our neighborhood elementary school.

Tubman far exceeded our expectations (and assuaged some of our concerns) of putting our kids in a DC public elementary school. The place is staffed with highly qualified teachers from great universities; they are young and engaged and highly motivated and can speak with authority on nuances of academic pedagogy, which is to say they really know what they are doing.
The school is clean and orderly and well-run. Discipline is well-managed. The school administration does a good job of communicating with parents, and there are a variety of interesting activities and trips for the students. Ms. Delabar gets high marks for being very present at all times, for demanding great performance from her team, and for setting the bar high. Safety of the children is clearly important throughout the building.
Tubman's greatest strength is clearly high quality teaching staff, and a support administration focused on high performance. I'm withholding one star only because there's more room to grow in the areas of art, music, some minor admin details, and such. We have been very impressed (and surprised).

Our two kids (grade 2 and K) started attending Tubman Elementary 2 months ago. So far, we are happy with the school. The teachers and the assistants are very competent; they know well each of our kid's strengths and weaknesses, they have given us plenty of home practice materials to keep them challenged. They truly care for the kids' education and well-being. Communications = great. The principal is always around; you see her chatting with the kids, the parents and I've seen her sitting down in classes to observe. The building is clean and organized. The kids in their classrooms always seem to be in controlled, calm and well behaved. I only wish the school gets more funding next year to invest a bit more in arts and music.

My children have been there for a year and we all really love the school. The facilities are great, students and staff are very diverse and respectful. My kids have learned a lot in one year and enjoyed every minute of it.
