This school is very disorganized, teachers and other staff have favorites and if you are not a favorite you have to heavily advocate for yourself to get the grade you deserve. This school is heavily draining and has made a very negative impact on my mental health as well as other students. Teachers don’t take 504’s or IEP’s seriously and is completely brushed off. They don’t take mental health seriously either. Teachers and administrators could care less about if you’ve actually learned what it is you need to earn a good grade and more so if you got a good grade. You can go on and on about how you don’t understand the material and no matter how much you ask and beg for a little extra help you get told off and you’re just expected to miraculously learn everything. And for the times that we students have to go back to school, it’s way too early not every parent has the financial stability to have everything their child needs for school by the 11th of August, or whatever ridiculously early date it is they want us to come in and to be completely blunt teenage kids are mean. To be a “bully free zone” there’s a bunch of bullying that’s not accounted for. Teenagers are so cruel towards each other and all the adults do is turn a blind eye. And I do not care how many reviews I have to put in to put in to be Heard or seen because this is beyond ridiculous.

EXCELLENT! My son has been a Kipster since the 5th grade, recently ending his 9th grade school year and I am anxiously awaiting the beginning of the 10th grade school year to see how KIPP DC College Preparatory is going to challenge us! KIPP has enriched not only my son but I as well; their stance on parent, teacher, and child goes beyond education. I have been overwhelmed and at times brought to tears because of the care and compassion that KIPPs staff exemplifies with not only my son, but all its students. My son never received this type of treatment and education in private school. For those parents who are not fortunate enough to have their child/children be about of the KIPP Organization, I say continue to try don t give up. Anything worth having is worth fighting for! KIPP is a culture, a way of life for which not only our children will build principles but the parents as well. Although I was always a great mother, it has taught me to be a better parent. The Principal, Ms. Borden, staff and teachers such as: Ms. Welch, Ms. Murphy, Ms. Graham, Ms. D, Mr. Stuckey, and Coach Leonard, you get all the kudos and accolades. I sincerely thank you for a job well done!
