As a longtime parent at this Kipp DC location it had declined drastically from leadership, staff, family engagement, and overall morale. When staff were more diverse it allowed parents and students to learn differently. When you have concerns they never get addressed even when you take them to leadership and the headquarters they are swept under the rug with egos and authority. Currently seeking a new school where my child can receive an overall better education and atmosphere. Kipp has been riding off a reputation and has been falling short even prior to the pandemic. They are only concerned about their performance on standardized test and they dont reward them for all the hard work they put in. There are no extracurricular activities in this school as well. As a parent I analyze what is vital for my childs growth and Kipp DC Promise Academy has fallen short.

My child has started her 3rd year at this school and to say the least is that this school has been nothing but awesome. My child is currently in the kindergarten and she is reading on a 2nd grade level. All thanks to all of her teachers especially Mrs. McPherson.
