They not only focus on helping kids with learning differences succeed academically, they also focus on having the children embrace who they are, I'd be proud of who they are, and promote all of the gifts to the world that people with learning differences have given.

This was my son's first year, and he struggled A bit as it was his first day of school in many years. Throughout his assimilation, the teachers and administrators focused on kindness, integrity, and my son's emotional health.

We have had several causes to interact with administration and leadership throughout our year at Lab. Whether the interaction was through the normal course of business, like annual plan reviews, or due to a social issue my son was having, they were kind, direct, pragmatic, and always kept the needs of my son at the forefront. I cannot say enough great things about them.

This school is life-changing. The light has come back on and my sons eyes. You no longer fights me on going to school and was actually sad on the last day of school, something that has never ever happened before.

Lab School is an extraordinary school! The teachers are kind and patient and always go above and beyond their assigned duties. The Foxhall campus is a family. The entire staff knows each and every student in the building and really looks out for them. I have never met a staff more dedicated to figuring out and addressing the needs of each child. My child has several learning differences and at times gets one on one instruction because that is what she needs. On the rare occasion that something at school overwhelms her, a simple phone call or email to her teachers does the trick. These teachers want my child to succeed and feel good about herself at the same time. I am incredibly grateful to have the gift of the Lab School.

We have a child at Lab School and the school has made an extraordinary difference in our child's life. Is it perfect? No. But no school is. However, Lab comes pretty close to perfect in our opinion. We found that the school works very hard to remediate the areas where our child is struggling and at the same time, challenging our child in the areas where he excels. We have attended other DC area schools and no school comes even close to understanding what is required to educate children with ADHD, dyslexia, working memory and processing challenges.

Be very careful when assessing this school. Much has changed in programming and there is zero accountability of staff performance or for student progress. Look beyond the marketing materials and videos . As designed , they pull on the heartstrings but they do not represent the " real" Lab or typical student attending Lab or the actual staff efforts or degree of individual attention with students. The truth is Lab Is horribly outdated when it comes to dyslexia or ADHD programs All special Ed programs use multi -sensory and hands on learning techniques --- even in public school. The integrated therapy programs ( speech and OT ) promised at Lab does not exist in the classroom ( except art) and they provide highly manipulated records to show student progress where progress does not exist. ( if you go here make sure to have your child periodically independently evaluated ) . The administration is out of touch with teaching protocols but instead spends a great deal of time on fund raising and marketing. We found after being at Lab for several years the " smoke and mirror " comment frequently used when describing Lab is very accurate. However, if your child is broken by the school environment and you do not have academic expectations for your child ,japply to Lab. But before you do, look at all other options ---- this should be your last.

Simply amazing - the teachers, the programs and the experience is the best for my dyslexic son. No more staring out of the window during class. He is fully engaged and he is learning!

Lab School definitely walks the walk when it comes to their belief that if a child is not learning, change the way they're being taught. It's been night and day for our dyslexic, ADHD, gifted child. The support for families is equally valuable. You can trust them.

This school has worked wonders for our daughter and she will live a lot happier life now because of them. The first day if school the head of the lower school said to me "there is no magic ferry dust that we sprinkle on the kids heads its just a lot of hard work by the teachers, parents and mostly the students." Well we have been there going on our 4th year and I can honestly say that I adore the school and I wish that I could send all 3 of my daughters there! Everyone at the school has embraced the challenge of getting her squared away and I know that our family could not imagine what we would have done without Lab. Only advise I have for you...don't waist your time thinking about it, you are only as happy as the most unhappy person in the family.

This school changes lives. My kid went from not wanting to go to school to loving the school. I couldn't be happier.
