So far, it's been a good experience for my 6th grader who's in the cinematic arts program. Most of the teachers are very hands on, informative and seem to like/love their jobs. I appreciate the attention and care the teachers are providing to the students. The principal is a nice guy also and does his best to keep parents and guardians up-to-date and informed about the school and activities, etc.

I attended this school briefly in the mid 80s. It was clean, academically challenging and creative. The school band was terrific and the graphics art class was cool. The teachers were strict, a little cold but absolutely excellent.

The principal seems cool and nice but it seems like there is a system in place to keep the principle from being bothered. And the vice principals are not very approachable. And when I have talk to one of them she acted like she knew better than me about which classes I was taking.

Overall I've really enjoyed Fort Caroline. Most days I look forward to going to school. I have liked my teachers every year even the one's who others think are mean I can get along with. The school staff took the time to get to know me by name from the start. I have made many good diverse friends here. I have friends of different races, gender, sizes, beliefs, and social classes.
When I arrive at school I feel like I'm part of a big family. I sense I belong, I'm accepted even with my goofs and quirks. The staff, my teachers, and my friends are on my side and want me to succeed.
My 2 complaints with this school are: 1. No clubs - you can see for yourself on their website. 2. Teachers/Administration leaving in the middle of the year! I think that should be a real ethical issue that is brought up before hiring; teachers should make a commitment for one year.

The homework isn't consistent. Like you can go a few days without homework and then be given a bunch that is assigned on like a Wednesday and Thursday and due the following Monday and Tuesday, so you end up spending the weekend doing homework. And my experience has been that the homework is really piled on on holiday weekends/vacation days. I think I'd prefer to have homework every night and not on the weekends and holidays. Lots of projects.

Some teachers people don't like cause they're tough. For example one of my teachers wasn't my favorite and I complain about her at first but then my mom helped me to realize that she was trying to help us be prepared. And I learned a lot in that class. One of my classes is supposed to be STEM and we haven't really done any STEM related work unless you count typing; that class is also my favorite cause it's stress free but I might like it more if we did activities related to science, technology, and engineering, but not math cause I hate math.

The worst experience I have ever had as a student. This school is pretty much a trip to insanity. The other students there are mostly rude and lazy. I was lucky to made new friends with the nicer ones, but teasing and arguements always happens. Currently, I have witnessed 4 fights total. The students are into racist and sexual jokes that are never caught be staff.

The digital art teacher only assigns us projects, but they do not actually teach the students. There are only few teachers there that actually really cares about their students. Most of them does not support their students. They threaten us everyday to shut up or get a "referral."

Most of the students are disrespectful and lazy. Whenever they have the chance, they go on and play games on the computer, specifically FPS games.

The ones that lead the school are very strict, and they have bad reputation among us. It is hard to communicate rationally with them, because no one knows how to or they are scared of them.

My child has been attending this school for a year and a half (2016-2017 and 2017-2018, present). This has been the best school my child has attended in Duval County and we've tried other magnet schools. Everyone is professional and courteous, the office staff, teachers, and the administration. Because the school is not that big the teachers and staff know the students individually. My child reports that the students get along for the most part; there are no fights, some verbal disagreements but that's as far as it goes and the races get along. I see many of the children at this school look to be very happy with high self-esteem. The school has been academically demanding at times. My child as an AP and Honors student has often had homework on the weekend and during holidays, but I believe this will preparatory for a rigorous high-school program.

I don't know how was the school before, but i can say, that last 2 years it has been really great. Teachers really care about their students and want them to succeed. Great magnet school!

It might not be the best and it may yes, have a lot of fights but i go there right now and im telling you, even though you have to wear uniforms its fun, challenging, and the teachers and nice and the athletics are AMAZING!! The new principal is so fun and loose. This is my second year here and i'm sure to go here next year, you people who don't like it or don't think ts sutible, your going to drive yourself out of the city trying to find a better school.

Fort Caroline really needs to promote its IB program better if they want to attract better students. Take a look at their web site - it barely mentions the IB program! I believe it has great potential with this new program, if they'd only push it more. Take a look at how Julia Landon completely turned itself around after becoming a college prep magnet. It can be done. The difference is promoting the program.
