Crystal Springs Elementary School

This school has been extremely disappointing. My child has a speech delay, yet the school has failed to provide speech services, claiming they are understaffed. That is not an acceptable excuse.

Communication is virtually nonexistent. Reaching a teacher is nearly impossible despite repeated calls and emails.

On top of this, my daughter has been bullied by a male student. I have reported this multiple times, and no action has been taken.

I am beyond frustrated. The lack of services, poor communication, and failure to protect my child show a serious lack of accountability and care.

My 5 yo kindergartner was choked by another kindergartner, you could still see the marks on his neck 24 hours later. I was not contacted about the incident until I reached out and insisted to speak to someone. Children shouldn't have to worry about getting choked in class. A classroom is a place for learning.

Excellent experience at this school. They are very engaged with the students and parents.

They have many Paraprofessionals, reading interventionists, and math interventionists, they have a few guidance counselors. Teachers are trained to work with low level readers and gifted students as well.

Again, the school does its very best. Teachers work hard at disciplining and resolving issues. Ultimately, the parents have to care enough to teach their child to be kind to others.

On a scale of 1-10 I'd give Crystal Springs an 8.5!
They really work hard at teaching, training, and supporting.

The homework is simple and clear. They give homework regularly. It's up to the parents to sit and help their child, that is why it is HOME work.

They spend a ton of time on lesson plans, try to teach the students basic manners and how to behave in school. They spend their own time and money on their class rooms. They attend frequent training.

The teachers and administrators try rly hard. Ultimately, when parents are non-responsive or just confrontational, it only hurts the student. They cannot MAKE PEOPLE DO.

They try their best to contact parents and discipline appropriately. They spend time training teachers. The walk into class rooms and observe regularly.

I think that the reading logs are just a little redundant every day, be more creative if they have to do these everyday, more exciting for them! My daughter loves to read and write but is really bored answering and doing the same stuff on these!

My daughter has been in this school since Kindergarten and we Love the education she gets here! She has been on The Principals all A Honor roll since Kindergarten, she is now going into 4th grade, and she is above grade level and loves to learn and go to school. We as very active parents in our child's education couldn't ask for a better school. Sure the Old Mean Ladies who are in the main office make you want to scream and cuss, but I look pass that because they aren't the ones teaching my child and I've never had a bad experience with a teacher yet! They are the reason we Love this school, they really care about the kids and really teach them not just be there for a paycheck. No matter where we live I will keep my daughter in this school until middle school. Kudos to you Mrs.Maxwell, you as the principal are doing a bang up job with the teaching staff you have chosen for our children. Keep up the good work!!!

The school is 26 years old this year. Some things are not the same as 26 years ago. However, the teachers are still the hardest working group of people anywhere. If excellent instruction is what you are after as a parent, then you should not be disappointed. The faculty is constantly being trained on the latest techniques. They bring experience and expertise into the classroom. Some reviewers on here seem to be focusing on the wrong things. In a large school there have to be rules. Rules will almost always upset some people. Crystal Springs has produced many doctors, engineers, lawyers, and other professionals. So, educational opportunities are definitely here. It is what the student and parents decide to make of it.

I'm a substitute teacher and former student of Crystal Springs. I can't believe how much things have changed-and not for the better. I've had several discipline problems and the other teachers seem to be getting tired of having to deal with the same problems day after day. The actual instruction isn't bad though. The teachers are devoted and most are well-qualified. There does seem to be a disconnect between the teachers and the principal though. Crystal Springs isn't the great school that it was but it is still way better than most of the other schools I've worked at.
