This has been, without question, the worst school experience our family has encountered in Broward County.

When my grandson started Kindergarten in this school the teacher has 32 kids and one teacher and the school kept promising that they were going to open a second kindergarten class they never did. He learned NOTHING that year, they promised that first grade would be better. Again they started first grade with 30 plus student, but the parents started saying that if they didn't open a second first grade class they were going to transfer their children to another school and that's was when they finally opened a second first grade classroom.

For about half the year my grandson had a great teacher but she moved and left the school and he got the teacher from HELL!

One incident was particularly disturbing. My grandson was not allowed to use the bathroom and made to urinate on himself in front of his classmates by one of their teachers. The teacher did not allow my grandson to change his clothes and made him take a test while sitting in urine-soaked clothing while his classmates laughed at him. Unsurprisingly, he failed the test.

It took over 3 days to get the principal to answer my calls. And then at the end of the year they retained him in first grade. The Principal cut off all communication between the teachers and my son. I tried to contact the school superintendent, no response. I tried to contact the chief of staff, no response.

Based on our experience, I would strongly encourage parents to carefully consider other options before enrolling their children at this school. No child should lose a year of learning or be subjected to treatment like this.

DO NOT WAIST A YEAR OF LEARNING FOR YOUR CHILDREN AVOID THIS SCHOOL!!!

My son attended The Charter School of Excellence in Davie for two wonderful years. Unfortunately, due to our move, he will no longer be able to continue at the school.

I want to express my gratitude to all the teachers, staff members, and administration for their kindness, dedication, and support throughout our experience. Special thanks to Principal Ms. Torres, Ms. Green from Art, and Ms. D for the amazing work they do every day.

We truly felt like part of a caring community. I highly recommend this school to any family looking for a positive and supportive learning environment for their children.

Wishing the school continued success and growth in the future!

Honestly this school has been a really important part of my life. I made so many memories and friends. All of these memories might not be my favorite or the best. I've learned a lot, went through a lot and wanted to share that with whoever wants to know about this school.

I'm not going to disclose any names, since that wouldn't be best. The fifth grade teacher assistant needs to be working elsewhere. This teacher isn't good with kids at all. They tend to give snacks to their favorites. If you couldn't tell it is against SCHOOL policies. I got in trouble many times for sharing food, now I understand how it could be bad but the fact that she was enforcing the rules, then breaking them is super unprofessional. I mentioned before that she had favorites. And let me tell you, being her favorite was the only way you could actually somewhat survive. And it didn't help that her favorites just so happened to be my bullies. She also made a rule about bullying. But she just so happened to be one of the people who made fun of others.

Shoutout to my favorite teachers,

Ms. German and Mrs. Pierre, they made me feel safe and respected. They gave me all the comfort a person could ever want.

Honorable Mention, Ms. Levasseur, I had a lot of growth in her class!

Oh but sadly, I have to actually say this:

My had favorites, AKA bullies. They were fully aware that they were favorites and complete advantage of it. She knew they were being mean, and she "saw" everything but bullying.

But time for the best part, my personal FAVORITE staff in the school. Ms Angie I swear she's an ANGEL. She helps when needed saved many people from a BUNCH of incidents and LOVES us all. I love her like a second mother because tell me why she's honestly carrying the school? What a complete vibe.. I think that'll be all though, hope you can take some advice from this (hint, scroll down)..

if you're reading this, go to the office to help ms angie ;) (help whoever you'd like it made it so much more fun!)

READ OF YOUR CHILD IS SPECIAL NEEDS (ANY LEVEL/ LOW FUNCTION/ HIGH FUNCTION ETC)
My son was admitted to this school, the school was aware of his IEP. My son started attending and had improved tremendously. Unfortunately the principal only cares about the money receive by the department of education and to show high grades while discriminating ESE students. My son was removed from the school after a few weeks for no reason other than him being a ESE students and the school not being able to help this had affected my son in a manner where even psychologists had to see him to help him go thru this. So if your child is not Special Needs (good for you and your child) if not, I suggest not to even bother. This principal needs to be removed.

My son attended school there for 3 years. I went on the school tour and was floored. The teachers, staff, and administration are the best. If your child is a public school put-out, they will not last. So don't even think about enrolling them. This school is better than most private schools.

Excelente escuela mi niña está aquí desde kindergarten y este año entró a 4to grado todo el personal es especial te conocen y saludan de una manera especial la principal miss torres es un gran ser humano y siempre dispuesta a ayudar y ni que hablar de miss Angie la secretaria es un amor de persona siempre tiene una hermosa sonrisa y un hermoso saludo en cuanto te ve y siempre dispuesta a contestarte cualquier duda que tengas y a resolver lo que se te presente son un gran equipo y eso se ve reflejado en los resultados de los estudiantes, lo recomiendo totalmente.

Excellent school, my daughter has been here since kindergarten and this year she entered 4th grade. All the staff is special. They know you and greet you in a special way. The principal, Miss Torres, is a great human being and always willing to help. Not to mention Miss Angie, the secretary, is a lovely person. She always has a beautiful smile and a lovely greeting as soon as she sees you and is always willing to answer any questions you have and to resolve whatever comes up. They are a great team and that is reflected in the students' results. I totally recommend it.

Caution if your child has any type of special needs an IEP, autism, adhd, etc do not enroll them in this school. Its terrible. They actually called the police on my child who was a kindergarten at the time because they couldnt meet his needs. They have no resources and the classrooms are extremely small. The principal at the time also tricked me into withdrawing him from the school telling me this was his last day and to sign this paper. Terrible experience. I definitely wouldnt recommend it. I would give it zero stars if I could.

Both of my kids assist this school and I'm super happy with their education program. They focus of academics, very small school but I feel this is a family. I can approach everybody there even the principal, and they know all the kids and they exactly what happen and progress of my kids.

I had went to open house and I was sold. when I visited I was allowed to tour the classrooms And the teachers there were just incredible in dynamic. They not only care but they actually teach and relate to the children. My son came from and underachieving public school. When he first enrolled I noticed the immediate change in his behavior and communication. Miss Moody, Miss Constance, in the rest of the teachers are excellent. I only wish the school went to the eighth grade. I am a true fan of mrs. Dyer. since I am being honest mrs. Angie in the office really holds the school together. At my son's other schools there would be three people working the front office and no one could get anything together. My only wish is that they would go up to the eighth grade.

I switched my child's school to The Charter School of Excellnce at the end of the years last year, as his previous charter school was basically a daycare with no teaching involved.

This school has a decent curriculum but a very harsh way of teaching it or treating children who they feel do not comprehend. My son suffer from ADHD so he is slightly more active than other children, this created a problem for his previous teacher as she had no experience or idea how to handle things. Not to mention the way the principal began treating us. I was told my child will fail and I'm lucky he can even read then came time for the FSA end of the year testing and he scored well above average in everything and this seemed to upset the teach and the principal as they both had plans on retaining him.

I was told by his old teacher she recommends I medicate him and again I refused and this of course was upsetting for them.

After being told to medicate my child by a school official and not doing so the issues began. My child was told by the principal at the end of the year with a smile on her face that he will not be returning and that was correct.
As I went to orientation and sat through the whole thing with this principal watching me and my son the entire time, I was then informed by "the principal" my son is no longer enrolled here and went on to basically tell me the day before school without and prior notification that's he is not enrolled in a school I asked why she stated although he started at the very and of the year my 20 volunteer hours were not completed only five were and reguardless of the time the child starts school she needs 20 hours in full and she then refused to allow me to some how make them up (pay whatever the school finds reasonable). She then said call her the following day and she will tell me what to (buy). I then called and was advised there were no more seats left in 4th grade and good luck. I asked to verification or anything that advised me of my child not being able to return as "the principal" told me was sent, they had not proof or anything to send me however all summer the school called me with updates.
I then had a friend call in and inquire if there were seats for the 4th grade as I figured I may be being a little harsh. She was then told by the "receptionist/ principals best friend) that there are.

I have two children that attend this school, I have a 4th grader and a K student. My 4th grader has attended this school since 1st grade. Both children are performing at or above level in all areas. I attribute that to the great curriculum at the Charter school of Excellence along with teachers, staff and principal. They provide field trips that are both fun and educational for both students and parents alike. I would recommend this school to all as well as my friends and family.

I love that there is only 300 students. The students get personal attention and the staff gets to know you . You're not just another face in the crowd . The principal is involved in all the activities and she will always make time for you and your child. Angie works the front office and is amazing!

Charter school of excellence is a terrible school. They only think of the teachers and not the students. Teacher there don't have the ability nor patients for kids with energy or emotional disabilities. They will pick on kids and make kids very unhappy. They treat parents very disrespectful and talk very rude. If you ever need them to call you, you have to wait 3 to 4 days before you get a call back. They suspend your kids for nothing. They have been the worse school so far I have ever dealt with. I had no choice but to put my son in a public school because of how bad they treated him.

My daughter attended the Charter School of Excellence Davie Campus for the 2013-2014 school year. I must say that this school is not what I thought it would be. Especially after the introduction we received at Orientation/Open House. This is school is very unorganized. Information is not received in a timely manner and all assemblies are in the middle of the day. No consideration for working parents. Every Honor Assembly invitation I've received was a day no more than 2 prior. Working parents are unable to participate in this case leaving the child feeling disappointed. My child's teacher advised her father and I to stop teaching our child at home because she (the teacher) cannot stimulate my daughter. Communication between parent and teacher had to be initiated by the parent or else you would not have a clue about the incline/decline of your child's learning. Way to go! This school is not ready to be considered school.

The school is unorganized and unprofessionally run. Although it has the highest Florida Dept of Education school grade of its family of schools, the grade itself is an unimpressive C (the others are D rated). There are no clubs or even a PTA/PTO. No specials. The administration consists of only a receptionist and clueless principal. There's not even a nurse. No counselers or departments to evaluate the students progress. Although the student body is small, the classes are filled to capacity with only 1 teacher per class. class size can be as high 28-30. The plumbing is often not in working condition and some of the classrooms get extremely hot because cooling units are broken. Before care starts at a very late 7:30 and it is very likely to not be open on time. In the past 3 years there have been 4 different principals assigned to this school. There's been a high turnover of teachers as well. The schools administering body has failed. None of the teachers or staff's children attend the school. If they won't send their own kids there why would anyone else? Don't waste your time with this trainwreck.

My twin daughters are attending this school for the first time this year. Both of their teachers, Mrs. Lanclos, and Mrs. Flores are caring, professional,dedicated, and communicate with parents regarding their child's progress. They truly care about your child's progress, which is greatly appreciated. The school is small, and family oriented.

In 2011-2012 Charter School of Excellence at Davie campus "LACK OF PRINCIPALS!!!" we had three different principals! Lacks of organized in classroom, teacher and etc. and during the pick up the cars are in middle of the busy traffic light awaiting someone get an accident or even death. Some of the teacher is yelling at the kids doing the pick time. I have already taken my child out of this school and enrolled to another school. I do not recommend this school at all even its tuition-free!!

The turn around on employees is crazy. The past year we had three different principals, three different pe coach's, and several teacher assiociates that left. It is very disorganized and class sizes are too large.
