My kid and I both love this school. Before coming to Shadowlawn we had a horrible experience at the previous school and had experienced bullying by the staff including the principal. Before starting at Shadowlawn I had called around to different schools trying to make sure we were not going from one horrible experience to another. The principal at Shadowlawn was the complete opposite from what we were coming from. She was very helpful, answered all of my questions and was a complete pleasure to speak with. I knew I wanted my kid to go to Shadowlawn but was told they were full. Thankfully because of my kids special needs they were able to make room and allow to attend. It's so hard to believe that was 5 years ago. I am very thankful every day that he is at Shadowlawn. The principal and the whole staff are amazing. They care about all the kids, know them by first name, and are so positive. I am not going to say everything is perfect. There are always a few bumps and a few who staff who were not the right fit with my kid but that is going to happen. Through it all the principal has been amazing even when we didn't agree. Which is why I have paid to have an advocate help not only for my kid but for myself, the teachers and school. Ours has been a true blessing in helping them understand my kid but also speaking their language of teachers and the programs they use. The Principal and staff have welcomed the advocate making it easier for all of us. I have spoken to many parents at Shadowlawn and within the county as many special needs parents do and without a doubt all of the parents at Shadowlawn love our principal and staff. Thank you everyone at Shadowlawn thank you for taking care of my kid and for helping through their educational journey.

Love this school. They have always made my kids feel so welcome. I have never once had any second guesses about my children's future or their safety.

My oldest son had a horrible experience being bullied after he transferred to Shadowlawn in the 4th grade. The teachers brushed it off, I tried meeting with the guidance counselor and principles three times, and every time I would come for a meeting, a "last minute" staff meeting would be in progress and I was asked to make another appointment. I finally had to go to the Clay County School Board about the bullying and the lack of concern at Shadowlawn. I transferred my kids to schools in GCS.

It is a beautiful school BUT the administration is horrible when it comes to dealing with bullying. My boys transferred to Shadowlawn as 3rd and 4th graders. My 4th grader was treated horribly. Called names, pushed and tripped. He was hounded day after day for 3 weeks. After a dozen phone calls and THREE trips to the school in the attempt to meet with guidance counselors and principles, (which I was told each time that a last minute meeting was in progress and to make another appointment) I transferred my kids to schools in GCS

Two of my children attended Shadowlawn this year. One in fifth grade and the other first. I was very happy with my kids teachers and the activities they were engaged in. My son was recognized by test scores from another clay county school and they did not hesitate to farther his education and put him into gifted. That's exactly what our children need is to be challenged!!!! We are all very excited to return next year.

This school spends far too much time on practicing for the FCAT, using negative discipline procedures,ie. walking laps for recess, instead of addressing the actual problem, and using extrinsic motivators such as pizza, soda, and candy instead of instilling intrinsic motivators and values.

I am truly disappointed this year. My child is a fifth grader and is almost afraid to go to school. The cruel , unruly behavior and foul language is way out of control. Some of these kids belong in an alternate school. The teachers don't really seem to know what to do besides,"Give me your behavior chart". What a lousy way to discipline. These kids don't care. New principal way to easy going, start putting your foot down! Assistant principal is good at talking to them like they are in kindergarten. More needs to be done. Their parents should also be called and brought in for a conference. Start giving detention for verbal vulgarities and arguing with the teachers. As for the teachers this year, some need to move on to other careers , or go back to school and learn how to talk to and address the students. I have been extremely unsatisfied this year because I feel that no one cares. Especially with the awful things that have happened to my child.

3 out of 4 of my children have been going here. And absolutely love all the teachers. I was able to enroll my youngest one for speech, and occupational therapy as well as join in on the regulary prek class activities. and he got tog to the sae school as his big sister and brother

I have been very satisfied with all aspects of Shadowlawn. The teachers are very one on one,the activitiesthat the school participates in are both fun and educational, and the opportunities for student and parent involvementi n extra curricular activities in stellar. The teacher to student ratio is very balanced, and the amount of new technology and supplies to promote learning are very high. This is all in all a wonderful school. Being a military family, we have moved frequently, and the education that my children are receiving at this school have greatly factored in our career plans to stay in this area.
