Despite my active involvement as a parent and my efforts to seek outside mental health support and resources for my son, the school consistently responded with punitive actions instead of compassion, guidance, or appropriate care. Rather than working collaboratively to support a young childs emotional and educational needs, the situation escalated in ways that negatively impacted his early education and well-being.
After seeking outside support, the treatment and punitive responses only intensified to the point that I felt I had no choice but to remove my son from the school entirely. No child should experience that kind of environment during such formative years.
The emotional harm and trauma this experience caused my son and our family is something no parent should have to navigate from an educational institution that is supposed to protect and support children.

I DON'T agree with the false/negative reviews. If you're so unhappy as a parent/staff member LEAVE!!!! I had a minor issue involving my son, and I asked to speak with Admin. I met with the Dean and she included the Principal while the AP was out on personal reasons. They handled the situation perfectly. How can you say that the Admin team is under certified or lacking experience? The previous school my son was at would sweep issues under the rug or think my son was the problem. These ladies gave me an answer in days and the issue was resolved. They made me feel like they actually cared for my son. One change I do love is the communication. We get weekly emails from the Principal, even on school breaks, with all the school updates to keep us well informed. I drop off and pick up my son each day. Every morning, they are outside with smiles on their faces, and every afternoon, we wave or small talk together. My overall experience has been great at Advantage. It takes a team (parent/teacher/admin) working together for what is in the best interest of my child. If you know what is in the best interest of your child, send them to Advantage.

As a parent, I do not understand some of these comments. Where are you getting such insider information? How do you know about teacher evaluations or what the admin team is not doing? Sounds like some bad staff morale to me. These are not things a parent would know.
I am a proud parent of a student at Advantage Academy. I have been up to the school and had a conversation concerning my own "issue" with the Dean and Principal. They met me with kindness and professionalism, and got to the bottom of my problem quickly. Yes it is different this year, but any new leader would bring with them changes. That is all a part of changes. I highly recommend this school and look forward to continuing to see it grow and excel under this new administrative team.

It's truly sad how this school has declined this year at the hands of an entirely new administration. I see from other reviews that the administrators aren't certified for their positions, which is concerning but also shows in their performance (or lack of performance I guess in this case). There are good, experienced, veteran teachers leaving nearly weekly, hence the statistic above of only 26% of teachers having 3 or more years experience compared to a statewide average of 82%. Now the students are basically being babysat by substitutes, as the administration continues to run off the most needed part of a school, the TEACHERS! I highly recommend you keep looking. I pulled my kids for a reason!

All of the good administrators have left this year along with all of the good teachers. Two of the current administrators dont even have certifications and the dean has no experience or certification. This is the most incompetent admin team in the history of education. They have literally ran this school into the ground in less than a school year! Kids getting hurt everyday, nothing is done about it more subs in the classroom than teachers because everyone is quitting . Teachers afraid to speak up because they know they will be bullied by admin and punished with false observations and evaluations. I would not work here or send my child here if they paid me a million dollars. Its the WORSE!!!

NO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE! Advantage Academy used to be an amazing school but the new principal has absolutely ruined it. The kids have subs constantly. They do not take bullying seriously AT ALL! Kindergarten is a nightmare. Kids are violent and scream all day. Admin continues to allow them to stay in the classroom. Communication with parents is minimal or nonexistent at times. All the great teachers my older child had previously have left. Do not send your children here if you care about their education!

I have really enjoyed the new leadership at the school. A lot of positive changes have been implemented this school year.

In my experience, students at this school feel excited about what they're learning, the teachers are respectful, supportive and motivate their students every day to learn, varied activities, excursions, fun games (PE), they offer different clubs included in their daily classes such as art, music, and Spanish.
Highly recommended.

My child attends this school. I witness a teacher slam the door in her face intentionally. No excuses, when it comes to mistreating children. The principle was more focus on he being 1 min late. Which made no sense because she was dropped of in the drop off line with all of the other kids. I was literally still in the drop off line and that how I got to see this entire situation first hand. I saw the teacher walking directly Infront of my daughter. She politely escorted another kid in the class, turned her back to my daughter to block the door way and slam the door in her face. Then she sent another kid out to walk my daughter to the office. My child is only 7 and could not understand how disrespectful that was. She's idolizing someone with no respect or regard for her. This will be the last year.

My son has been going there for 2 years already, teachers are very on top of home and classwork, before and aftercare staff are amazing, they help my son with his homework and he really enjoys attending his school, only down side is the cafeteria is a little small and there isn't too much room for events and awards. Other then that I love his school and teachers!

Excellent school, with very professional teachers/staff. Principal Miller's efforts in ensuring quality education and his overall stewardship of the school is highly commendable.

My granddaughter is in kindergarten she is treated unfairly.the teachers are poor at best.they purposely pass her up for things such as picture time with Santa they knew she had her money but made her stay in her seat and miss out.too much to mention these two teachers are bad news bullies.they change her behavior chart even when she doesn't deserve it .I would never send any child to this school she is being removed when this year ends

My child has been going there since it opened. There has been only 3-5 teachers that are worth a darn there. They don't communicate very well, 5 prinicipals now, and aftercare now is a joke. This school had promise the first year but downhill from there. Teacher turnover is horrible. This year my son is on his 3rd teacher. They have no advance or gifted classes. Look at this years accountability report. Last year they were rated D.

This school is awful. The dean of students is immature and feeds into the middle school girl drama. She abuses her power and is a bully. She is a horrible example and shouldn't be working with children. All if my children will be withdrawn from the school as it is not with the time and stress that is caused by this so called "administrator".

ii Went Here in The 2011-2012 School Year In The Seventh And i Love This School The Teachers Thought Me Very Well And i Actually Went Up Two Levels On FACT Thanks To The Way i Was Tought Well By The Amazing Teachers Only Thing i Didn't Like Was The Lunch But Other Than That I Wish I Was Still Attending There :(

A friend's daughters were just disallowed from having t-shirts signed as momentos even though there is no school policy against it and it's the same as having a yearbook signed. The administation seem so concerned about little issues like these and keep ignoring the fact that they are a "D" rated school. Maybe if they focused more on academics rather than petty issues like what color student's socks were the kids there would be better off!

Would have given zero stars if the site would have let me. This school is apparently continuing to have two classrooms in one this year - which, is not against the law for a charter school to do, but is not consistent with a "Private school atmosphere." They are on their third principal in three years, and many of their teachers are not certified and it shows (this too, is not against the law for a charter school, but shows that they are not willing to invest in the staff.) They are happy to take the funding for a special needs student and not provide adequate services.

I have a grandchild that attends this school and my grandchild loves it there. The school seems to be working very hard to improve in every and any area they feel might need it... the students are their top priority.

I LOVE this school. I have dedicated must of my self to this school. I believe in the teachers, the faculty/staff, founders, students, and parents. This school has such strong leadership and parent/student/teacher relationships. I couldn't think of a more perfect place for my kids to attend school. This really is the perfect hometown school!! LOVE IT!!!

I have had my child at the school since the beginning, and honestly would not want him to go anywhere else. I love how understanding the staff has been anytime I have had a need or concern. I also love the mandatory after school tutoring. My son has attended Summer Camp this year and has had an incredible time.

I have three children attending this school, and I love it. Nothing disappoints me at all. The teachers are fantastic, my children have learned so much, and despite being in a larger class, with two teachers, I feel they learn more and distractions are addressed immediately!
