there is no real review out on ACHS right now BECAUSE WE HAVE KIDS ARE TAUGHT OUR VOICES, DO NOT MATTER BECAUSE WE ARE “JUST KIDS” THEY ARE REWARDING TEACHERS WHILE LEAVING KIDS TO STRUGGLE AND FIGURE IT OUT. a good amount of 50-60 teachers who care about the students & even for them it can get exhausting because they are tired of teaching kids who are never motivated because they are always being let down. our high school years are supposed to be the best years of our lives and our most important but they prioritize our scores over our mental health. although it’s not their fault because of the lack of funding, teachers and administration should want to help the kids WANT to learn, not shove everything in their face and expect them to. teachers don’t understand how to get a kids attention. They don’t understand how to speak to a kid. They don’t understand how to treat a clearly struggling child who just needs support and guidance and patience. as an adult and a teacher you’re supposed to lead and not just think because you’re getting a paycheck doesn’t mean you’re doing a good job. there have been multiple occasions where I as a student have been late to class, pushing kids in wheelchairs to their class because a teacher were administration simply wouldn’t when they are clearly struggling. Like every school, they only care about how people view them on the outside not how the kids feel. They reward teachers while ignoring struggling kids who clearly do not want to be here. THESE KIDS NEED SUPPORT AND MOTIVATION NOT A SUPERVISOR TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE DOING WHAT THEY ARE “SUPPOSED” TO DO. This is coming from a real student who is sick and tired of watching LIE on this surveys about the school just so they can get done with it and do their work. It’s sickening and none of the teachers seem to pick up that WE NEED HELP. My generation is failing miserably and all they can blame is our phones and social media not any past mistakes leading to this future instead, they focus on their paychecks because they won’t be here to see what we do with our future.

Atlantic Coast High School in Jacksonville has been such a positive experience. The staff is committed to student success, offering not only challenging academics but also a variety of extracurricular activities that keep students engaged. The campus is safe and well-maintained, and there is a strong sense of community among students, parents, and teachers. Teachers are very good and experienced teachers they encourage students to successful.

Unfortunately, I chose this school and my son ended up dropping out. And my daughter for the first time in her life got F’s. She told me that there is no tutoring and when she asked for help none was provided. I’m moving school districts now as a result. I personally would recommend not sending your child here. When I went into the office 2 students were actively swearing at an office worker and nothing was done . Now I know why my kids were effected mentally going here.

I have never had a positive interaction with anyone at this school. Counselors are unavailable and appear to really not care at all about student needs. Everyone who works there seems overwhelmed and just angry. There's never been an attitude of "can do". It's simply, how can I get this student and parent out of my office.

This is how bad it is.... my daughter would rather commute 45 minutes in each direction than continue going to ACHS.

As a parent, if you care at all about your child having a good HS experience..... DO NOT GO TO ACHS.

In my personal opinion, ACHS has been one of the best schools i've attended. Theres a lot of diversity and they truly care and cater to your education. At achs, i'm excelling. Although i wish the homecoming had food & don't think 20-25$ tickets was worth it because they only served bottled drinks like water and gatorade, things like this change though. If you're making sure you stay engaged in class there's no doubt you won't succeed and if you are having issues with your teacher; always talk to a counselor about switching classes. much appreciation for this experience at ac.

I was put in Spanish 2 even though I hadn't completed Spanish 1 the year prior due to being pulled out of it. I ended up failing that class among others, nearly killing my GPA.

It really isn't. It seemed impossible to get a hold of anyone to get me out of the classes I had no business being in.

Accommodations at this school is horrendous. I'm a student with an IEP, meaning I need help with certain things on account of my Autism. All this school did for the one year I was here to accommodate me was shove me into "resource" classes with troubled students, and the teachers generally lumped me in with them and treated me as such.

When achieve is pushed to complete during school hours, there is no homework. Teachers may be certified in a certain class to teach but does this make them teachers. Homework is so lacking, no wonder students go off to college and fail.

Principal most likely knew someone. She must have been chosen without an interview. She clearly lacks the ability to socialize with people, most importantly, the students. In her 3 years there, we have yet to see her talk to any student.

Not a place for any student to learn and receive an actual educational experience. There are a few good teachers but the bad apples over shadow the good ones. Freshman are traumatized because of not the early time school begins but just the overall bad experience of high school. Teachers lack compassion for any student and again, the principal and leaders don't offer much themselves.

While it holds good educators the amount of disrespecect and hostility the staff poseses towards its students and parents is unwelcoming. In being unwelcoming your child will get get in trouble at some point due to their lack of listening skills.

I was very impressed by the staff at ACHS. My daughter graduated in 2013 and excelled in the AP program. I can't speak for the standard classes, but I am very pleased with the level of attention and efforts she received from all Advanced classes. As a result, she earned several scholarships and was accepted to many top notched colleges. The school has a very relaxing atmosphere which is designed to allow students to excel. I highly recommend students study hard and enter the AP program.

My daugther is a senior this year. We personnaly have not had any issues. She is a independent student and does very well academically & does not require much help. She has complained about a few students being disrespectful to the teachers, I 'm sure that's most schools. There will always be a few bad apples. Overall, I would say it has been a postivie experience for her.

I attended this school for my junior year, c/o 2012-2013 and I truly have to say that this school is out of control. I experienced bullying while attending this school and had trouble focusing in class alot of the time because of the large amount of distractions going on caused by other students. Some of the teachers were even verbally abusive. I will now be switching over to FLVS for next year.

Achs is the worst school my three children have ever attended If you in any way have.a choice I highly recomend you intrust your child's safety and education anywhere but here. The staff other than a,special few or,rude and sorry to be blunt but are only there to collect a paycheck and nothing more. Just to give one example two of my children had the same teacher that would sleep in class every day. Two of my children have graduated and the third i will be moving to private school next year. A lot of things going on in that school that's just not acceptable yet staff are either clueless or just don't care. Can't stress enough stay clear and if your child has an iep take advantage of the mckay scholarship and move to a private school. Some even take it as full payment.

I have to chime in here, because I am a Sub myself, and saw the post another Sub had written. I have subbed many times at this school (2013) and I am very impressed! Yes there are always your problem students, (and there was a fight one day the I worked here), but there are so many polite students at the school it ouways the problem ones. This is one of my top favorite places to sub at! Admin, office staff, and teachers are so friendly and welcoming! It is a very positive environment! Teachers and certainly Subs will always have issues on occasion at any school, however, If one finds themselves always in conflicts with students, I question how friendly your approach is to the students. Great School, and just as you should at any school, parents should be invovled, and ask questions, get to know the people around your teens.

I was a substitute teacher at this school during the 2011-2012 school year. I realize that substitute teachers get "special" treatment, but I was very surprised at the behavior I saw out of some of the students here. This is where my children are zoned to go, so I had a vested interest in learning about the school. I saw multiple fights break out in the hallways, I was cursed out by students, and from what I understand, this is likely a daily occurrence. The security staff were very helpful, but personally I would prefer that my children are not exposed to this type of environment. I cannot speak for the AP classes, as I never covered any of them. I just wanted to mention what I saw at this school so you're sure to make an informed decision before sending your children to this, or any high school.

I am very impressed with Atlantic Coast High School. My child just finished his freshman year and he loved it. I contacted his teachers quarterly and always received immediate feedback. The school website is informational. The teachers are always helpful and easy to contact. There are all kinds of activities for the students get involved in. The campus is clean, new and the facilities exceptional.

I do not reccomend this school to anybody. They have bad people at this school. I really don't reccomend it to anybody looking for a high school. Your probably thinking about where you would like to send your kids to in high school, and you should not come to Atlantic Coast, major bullying and fights. If your in that process of thinking about ur childs future, you should not come here. I would not reccomend this place. But if this school fits you, it really is up to you. High school is your future, pick your high school wisely, it will determine your path in the future. good luck. JUST THINK ABOUT IT....

This school used to be wonderful when it first opened up. Then they let all these ghetto people come in and ruin everything. Fights everyday, vandalism, bullying, etc. The security did stop fights immediately though. I got bullied at this school by a ghetto person. Sexually harassed too. The teachers and staff were fabulous but some students just ruin it. I am now switching to virtual school for the upcoming school year because of this behavior of ACHS students.

I moved my son from Paxon to Atlantic Coast. He is taking the same honors and AP courses and he is doing much better. The difference is at Atlantic Coast he can take honors and AP in subjects in which he excels and standard in a subject that is challenging. The teachers, counselors, and staff are wonderful. The school is beautiful and secure. Teachers respond and work with you to help your child suceed. I moved my son the second semester and he has made many friends and love the school. I plan to get involved as a parent next year to help improve the rating in parent involvement. My son will be a junior next year,

The 1st Brand new high school in City of Jax in 20 years. Design & security well thought out- teachers on the younger side but found to be enthusiastic. The usual kinks one would expect for such a large undertaking. Pretty impressive overall for a first year school.
