Each teacher my kid has had has been one of the best ever. They communicate in a lot of ways, they answer the phone late at night to help with homework, and the classes are interesting. My daughter has become a hundred times more curious since starting at this school.

KIPP does a fantastic job of focusing on character as well as academics. Teachers work the importance of character into their lessons and students are celebrated for showing good character every quarter!

Be careful of this school! Your child will not learn about the vital curriculum necessary to move on to a good high school. This school has been investigated about its curriculum by Duval County Public Schools. For example, their civics class teaches the children about Lesbian, Gays, Transgender, and Bisexuals, Dirty Wars, and police brutality. They do not teach the children about how the government works and the constitution. My child came out of that school testing a year behind her actual grade. This school does NOT align with the KIPP Foundation. Teachers leave in a mass exodus every year and under the principal Warren Buck, the entire staff from 2013 has left. The band instructors that led the school to their superior rating have left as well. Another note, the promise your child will get into Paxon, Bolles, Episcopal, or Lee Early College is by no means accurate. At most, 5% of the students will achieve this goal. It is a better school than some alternatives, such as Eugene Butler but seriously, look at your child’s work! You cannot trust what they are putting in your child’s head.

KIPP is a tremendous alternative to DCPS schools! Let me list the ways: -A "B" school in an area where all the other open-enrollment schools are D's and F's -Student academic growth is the second highest in the whole county -ALL students get to participate in band, and they get a free instrument! -Step team, basketball, baseball, flag football, cheerleading, and a ton of other electives are offered -the school day is longer to provide remediation to kids that need it -technology everywhere -caring staff that answers phone calls from students to help with homework We love it!
