New principal this year. Hmm. Things could be looking up for a good change for this school. Let us give it a chance. Perhaps it can be better. They will need to work together. I think they are really going to try. I want my kids to stay here.

This is absolutely one of the worst schools in Jacksonville. Lack of certified teachers. Horrible administration. ESE department is non-existent. "Behavior" people at the school are completely ignorant of the laws and statutes around suspensions.

The culture of DCSA is one of inconsistency. I have found that policy is not enforced. Students have a disregard for school rules, routines, and procedures because no one is holding them accountable. Students know that there are no real consequences that will affect them in a major way. There also isn’t any real follow through on incentives.

My experience here has been great since day 1. I come from a public school environment and this place is totally different. The Administrators and Staff really care about the students. They are committed and have shown a dedication to the students and family that is very rare. I have never seen a parent and student so excited to start the school year that they are reaching out to hug the principal and staff. The reviews on here are obviously in regards to the past and not the current school culture or administration! I have been totally pleased with my experience at DCSA.

Has been positive since day one. My daughter has had quality learning that comes from quality teachers. Highly recommend this school!

Hey, 8th grade student here currently attending DCSA. Thankfully, it's my last year. I don't think I could last another year. There are so many racist people, and we've been on lockdown multiple times over the past 3 years I've been here. It's terrible! We even had 3 or 4 fights in a single day once. Then some teachers get excited about them and wanted details or say that they probably deserved it. The bullying isn't noticed either and the schoolwork is ridiculous. I'm supposedly in 3 Advanced classes but we learn the same things as everyone else. Let's not forget last year, where we had 6 different Math teachers throughout the year; all either quit or were fired. Plus, I'm not even sure if we have a principal yet and it's halfway through the school year. If we do, I've never seen him! Parents, do NOT send your child here. Worst mistake ever.

Please help, most schools are only as good as the parents. We all need to support our school and help the school improve.The school is very clean, and is a good learning space, the children are safe,that a good start ! I think my grandson is doing good there , he is learning how to get a long with others , and that is a very good thing!

The video on their website is a joke. Charter Schools USA sees your child as a dollar sign and nothing more. They shove 27 students in a classroom and expect teachers to perform miracles. They let anyone into the school to make the count higher (more money for the company). The new principal that came from the district has quit before the first quarter even finished. I feel sorry for the good, hard working teachers and students who are still there. Shame on CSUSA and their CEO for ignoring the teachers' cries for help.

This school is terrible. I was a staff member there. The administration was lacking structure. The corporate office is even worse. They can not keep a principal at the school. In 3 years going on 5th principal. Corporate office does not know how to run a school. Schools should not be corporate run. Grade keeps going down. Kids bring guns and knifes to school which are never reported. Their are bully threats and severe threats that keep JSO occupied at the school. Rumors are the school will be closing.

This school is HORRIBLE I'm looking to transfer my kids. My son is being hit and bullied by middle school kids and nothing is being done!and my daughter is just being passed along with all A's and she still doesn't understand the work. Closed this school down!!!!!

I'm a previous parent to this school. This school has had it's rough couple of years but will not give up. The school is determine to succeed for the children that attend this school and I believe they will turn around this school year.

i went to this school for most of 6th, 7th, and the beginning of 8th grade. i DO NOT advise you send your child to this school WHAT SO EVER. there are no stable teachers what so ever, and the ones that stay long enough, barely taught at all. the principal at that school told us that "she didn't want to hear anything from us, if we had a problem" and she would send us right back to class. do you honestly think that's fair to your child? do you think you would want your child in a school like that? the only way this school would improve is for it to be shut down.

This school is horrible! It is the second week and I am looking to transfer my child. I wish I would have moved her to Baymeadows as I was instructed by my friends. Really disappointed in this charter school. I wish I would have read these reviews. It has not changed since 2011 according to the reviews. The before/after school care is horrific! They do not follow the policies and procedures outlined in their handbook. The classroom enviroment is awful according to my child. I have addressed my concerns with school personnel and they take up for the teachers. I am very concerned that my staright A student is going to fall behind attending this school. Hoping for an opening in Baymeadows!

This school has been the biggest disapointment . I would not recommend it to anyone.not safe and they keep everything a secret .middle school should not even be open.they should loose there charter.if something major does not change someone will get hurt. I think it should be closed ..

This year the school has it together! The first day was a awful with dismissal but the teachers did what they could to get the students out as quickly as they could. Teachers were out in the rain getting soaked and they still had smiles on their faces. Each time I walk into the school I am greeted by all the staff with smiling faces and my son's teacher is amazing! All of these negative comments about the staff from last year are not at all true this year. The school is a totally different and a positive environment now. Also, the new principal is great!

My son's cell phone was stolen before spring break by a child who the principal already knew how he and his mother were. The mother was ignorant and did not want to give me back the phone immediately.. she said, oh you one of those mothers that want to come to my house. .... what the.. I never met a parent that acted like a jail bird. Most parents are gracious and nice and want to cooperate. .. When i called the principal, she stated she knew exactly who i was talking about but when i finally got the phone back after waiting the weekend, Ii had to show up with my co-worker because the mother acted like she wanted to beat me up for wanting to meet with her to get my son's phone back. .. Nothing was done!!!. .. I guess the school was even scared of this parent. They should be more selective.

my child was a student here for 1st and 2nd grade and we will not be returning. I can not begin to express the anger I have towards this school starting from the change of principles in the middle of the school year, to the way the classroom and school was cunducted. I feel I have not only wasted my time but my childs valuable time in education by ever enrolling in this school.

My daughter has attended year one and year two. Night and day difference. Year one was good, rough due to first year opening but my child learned progressed and was happy. Teachers invested in kids and happy. Principal wonderful and knew all kids names. Excited to return. Year two administration moved to baymeadows campus. Many teachers also transferred. Both new principal and vice quit by 3rd qrtr. My daughters suppossed advanced classes a joke. Teacher moral plummeted. No projects, no required reading lists, homework not graded. SIS system they live to show off not updated with assignments just grades, teachers dont respond to emails. Population of kids shifted to below grade leval. All smarts kids left or will leave at end of year. We are very sad school has declined. There is goodness there but the replacement administration ruined it. Many escaping. Go to baymeadows camous. I think Charter Shools USA can do good in Jaz just not there yet in arlington

First the good: Excellent teachers! That is the only good thing! Terrible administration - deplorable communication - Rules not uniformly enforced. Cafeteria serves left overs - child got sick from it. Ideas suggested to principal ignored - office staff not informed. Students not disciplined properly. Little parental involvement. Volunteer hours required but not enforced! Dangerouse students in main classes!?!?!?This student should be in a special class! Another poster mentioned teachers controlling the class room - they are not allowed to discipline students which is crazy! We are looking for another school too! Communication is really BAD! Not sure if it is from the main office or if the principal has to approve everything - either way parents who have computers are encourage to access the SIS (portal) but it isn't updated with homework nightly. One teacher has a weeks worth of assignemnt posted in 1 day.

My son loved the school which is why I gave it 2 stars and not 1. He was in kindergarten last year and had 3 different teachers. Don't know why they quit, but something was going on I didn't know about. The teachers have a hard time controlling the class room. Kids seem to focus on each other more than studying. I pulled him out at the end of the school year because it wasn't what I was looking for. After going to a different school, I would never set foot in this school again. There is tension in the air and something isn't right.
