My child was bullied at this school and online by a student from this school. I tried reaching out to the principal but she was never available, so i spoke with the assistant principal who then had the dean of discipline follow up with me. After the school did an investigation, the student who was doing it admitted it was her and she was sent home for the day. After several forms and levels of bullying my child, the school felt like a 4 hour suspension was enough. The student was allowed back the very next day when she went on to brag to her classmates how she had not gotten suspended. The principal never once bothered to call as a follow up to see if my child was ok. or how the matter had developed. I have been here for 5 years and have to say that the teachers are amazing but the administration lacks a lot of empathy and professionalism. Don't EVER expect the principal to address you, your issues or your child's issues, she has not once been available through the years for anything. All she is concerned about is bringing more children/money to the school.

Pinecrest is great so far. My daughter loves to go to school everyday. Blessed to have a great teacher (Ms.Gonzalez - PreK). Teacher responds very promptly with all the questions, aftercare teachers are great, my daughter loves them. Teaching techniques are impressive, encourages students in all aspects. So far great experience.

They expel the bullies at this school. Period.

If kids are bored because they are smarts, they get in trouble all the time. They don't have methods to encourage these type of students. They just complete their lesson plans, regardless the needs of the students. Psychology is out of boundaries for them

Posted: May 5, 2017

It is based in competition and teachers are not the best examples for them

Many are unsupportive, scream at kids and pick on them

Posted: May 5, 2017

Most of the best teachers are gone. They are getting out of school massively. The new teachers and few of the oldest (mainly for 6,7,8th grades) are sarcastics, ironics, disrespectful toward kids. Instead of encourage them, they pick on them and tell them how bad they are. They are really mean!!! Complains had been made to the Administration, but they do nothing about it. It's a shame. We had been at this school for 8 years. We had witnessed it.

They request your child to be seen by a psychiatrist and take no responsibility for evaluations or proof of why this is even thought.

homework - they give out packets to be turned in at the end of the week

This school is a disappointment. Brought my children here for the "small classroom" "private school" feel and it's a complete joke. They made my 5 year old responsible for getting to the "remedial" classes, from morning care to class, class to class all on their own because they need to be responsible and independent. Both had referrals due to not showing up in class on time when they were dropped off in morning care. They are 5 year olds and in a new atmosphere. All the negative comments below are fact.

Parent pick up is ridiculous. The more familiar parents get all the advantages and are rude to the new comers.

Aftercare - I do not like that the older children (k-8th) are mixed with the younger students. The things my children have learned from the older kids is absurd. It needs to be separated by age groups.

Failing - they will not tell you until it is too late. they do not offer any help whatsoever and blame the child for not showing up to classes the parents aren't even aware of. Mind you, my kids went to school prior here and were top of the class and even entered this school reading. They jam pack all of the classrooms but since they have paid penalties it is OK for our children to pay the penalty and deter their academic success. As long as they are still funded it is ok.

I feel bad for the teachers - some are really nice and great. You can tell the director/board does not care about their well being either.

Children are children, not emotionless robots. 5 & 6 years should not be held responsible for many of the things they make them responsible for.

As parents WE were also incredibly involved and even provided them with additional resources as well. Multiple meetings for nothing - always received the run around or blamed the household for the issues.

Don't worry you will hear from them when they run out of supplies or need money for something.

AVOID the headache

Awesome school. This is my son 2nd year and I have great communication with his teacher they are all willing to help. My son has learn so much since last year. Pick up needs to get better it takes about 15 to 25 min to pick up child since you have to make a line to go into school and for student to come to the car. But everything else is fantastic!

Awesome school, hardworking teachers and staff, great administration, safe place for students. Conveniently located and great curriculum.

This is the first year of daughter in this school and we love it. It has been an amazing year. The teachers are professional and dedicated 100% to their students. I could always reach my daughter's first grade teacher ( Miss Castañeda) when I had a question. I feel blessed to have my daughter in such a great school. I would recommend it to anyone who cares about their child's education.

This is my child's first year. Incredibly disappointing! It's supposed to be such a good school, unfortunately that has not been the case for me. Try to communicate with the teachers, it's near impossible. I only hear from them when they are asking for money. Extremely unexperienced teachers. I have applied to another school and I hope I can get my kid out of here FAST!

Pinecrest Academy North is an excellent school. The teachers care about the students and prepare them very well for the challenges ahead. It's clean, safe and nuturing. I would recommend this school to any one looking to challenge their child.

My child goes to Kindergarten at this great school. This has been a great year. The teachers made the transition easy for ger and for me and the teacher is very responsive to my emails. There is always opportunities for me to participate in school events. The school makes it easy for the parents to keep updated about monthly happenings. There is a great sense of community among the parents! Academically I have no complaints, my child came in at 0 and is now doing better than I thought possible thanks to the patience and dedication of her teacher. I feel blessed to have my child in such a great school. Keep up the great job!

My son went to this amazing school from Kindergarten to 5th grade. I can't say enough great things about this school. The teachers are true professionals and dedicated to their students 100%. No child falls through the cracks because the teachers, administration and staff makes sure each child gets what they need to succeed. The principal, assistant principal and PALS (PTO) president have monthly meetings where ALL parents are welcome to discuss school happenings, and any questions and concerns parents wish to bring to the table. The events are very well organized and allow for plenty of parent participation. I love this school and I feel incredibly lucky to have my child be a part of it!

This is the second year in the school and last year thankfully. So dissapointed!!! I am taking my children to another school because of such bad expirience here. drop of and pick up is crazy, not safe , parent and teacher communication terrible, disorganized for every single event!!! no motivation !! if your child is failing they dont even contact you or offer you any solutions!! teachers are young and unexpirienced!!

With the new parking regulations that the school's administration is implementing this year we are having a difficult time picking up and dropping off our kids. This is getting very dangerous for the safety of children and parents. I think someone has to do something about it before there is a tragedy. Cars are not respecting the school zone speed limit and since the administration is not letting any one park in the school's parking lot parents and children are crossing streets with heavy traffic like flaggler. I hope someone can do something about it.

Has no understanding of what a Kinder garden teacher should portray to the 5 year old students. What a big disappointment. Had to take my son out in the middle of the school year. Every day was a different complaint and not only my son, but sit a day at the office and it will be a parade of parents yelling at the kids (kinder garden students)... They want soldiers ppl, stay away!

This school is wonderful it's great my daughter got a perfect 5 last year the teachers are really nice and the communicate with the students a lot they try to make learning fun i recommend this school it was nominated by the Florida govener and is #1 school in Miami-Dade by fcat scores

I feel the teacher communication is terrbile. I agree wholehartedly with the last parent about the independence expected of our 6 year old children. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

Posted: November 11, 2013

The teacher-parent communication is poor to say the least. In trying to teach independence, children are expected to write down their homework assignments. This was appealing to my wife and me until we began to rely on a 6 year old to communicate important information (i.e. testing dates, school activities, lunch menu and GRADES). How is it possible that one must depend on 6 year old children to relay academic information that is crucial for their academic success? I feel that teachers should provide weekly assignment notices along with test dates and important in-class activities so that we can better prepare our children. I have seen other top A+ Schools that post lesson plans and homework assignments online and send them home on a weekly basis. How hard is it to maintain a website or send a weekly group email to parents? The aftercare program is a joke, if you want your kids to do their homework mediocrely, watch a significant number of movies and play Just Dance off of YouTube videos, than this is the place for your child. This is unacceptable.

My son has been in this school for few years now, his kindergarten teacher was excellent and at the time I felt that the school was very organized and student oriented.....this was until 1st grade... His 1st grade teacher is a big disappointment; I feel that everything has been focused around testing and passing the SAT/FCAT. My son has had some difficulty at times and his teachers have lacked the communication to let us know that he needs help. As parents we are very involved with our son s education and have tried to provide him with additional resources to help him succeed.

Continuation (PART 3).. In addition, how is it possible that we live in the United States of America yet teachers still have to speak Spanish to students and parents at all times. I understand we live in Miami but Dear God . give me a break. Ask any college professor in Miami what s the biggest problem Hispanic students face and they will tell you, without any reservations, that it s GRAMMAR and ANALYTICAL THINKING!!! The art and music program is practically non-existent. They lack formal training, passion and creativity. It is a joke as well. After spending time researching and visiting other school websites in Miami Dade, how is it possible that I have allowed my child to remain in a school with such low standards? I do not recommend this school to anyone.

Excellent School really advanced academic preparation. The teachers are great and dedicated to the progress of their students. They have an excellent staff, well rounded environment for kids to learn and make friends. Small school with a nice familiar environment really hard to find in other public schools. I am very happy with my son in his third year at this school. I really recommend it.

Excellent School, the Principal and teacher are dedicated. My kids love this school. It is a small school with great staff and excellent programs after school.

I love and appreciate the staff at Pinecrest Academy North Campus. My daughter started in kinder and is now in 2nd grade. The education is great and the caring treatment from each member from the school is exceptional. Great communication with the teachers themselves and the office as well. Can't beat the family oriented atmosphere.

I am very happy my child has the opportunity to assist this school. The teachers are excellent and the staff and administration very professional. My son loves his school.

My two daughters assist to this school. I have the better opinion from their teachers and the staff in general. The school is very organized and looks like the staff is compromising with the work they are doing. The caring and respect for the children is splendid! We have previous experiences in other schools and so far this has been the best of all.
