The school centered near railroad tracks looks more like a juvenile detention center than a fun welcoming school. Stepping inside the gates you are met (unless parents are around) with teachers yelling and using bull horns. The principal actually uses the Darth Vader song strutting around as if the warden. Lunch time is no better - no talking, you can only look forward military style. Some teachers cared helping us to get ready for High School, others were horrible. Some teachers who were black always teasing blacks kids calling them stupid or slow while traumatizing white kids for nothing more than being white. Field trips to Disney were nothing more than paid vacations for the principal and teachers. Avoid going to this school at all costs.

Excellent. My oldest went there and my youngest will soon follow. We are not zoned for the school but are thankful we have the opportunity in Brevard to apply for other schools.

The principal Ms. DeLaughter is amazing. She is very engaged with the kids and has a wonderful team surrounding her.

This a wonderful STEAM Magnet School! The teachers and administration are top notch and the resources available to the students are some of the best in the county. They have a wonderful media center, a beautiful theater and a variety of before and after school activities including Coding Club, Robotics, BETA Club and Maker Space.

My oldest son went to McNair and absolutely loved it. Now my youngest is coming in. He attended the AVID summer math program and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff and class were top notch. Overall, a fantastic experience.

Science Research is a great class and has a great teacher. The Science after school clubs are great - robotics and solar car. The 7th grade teachers were great. Some 8th grade teachers are great. The school does not recognize the extra effort of students such as band, science fair or when on field trips and the effort from the student to make up the missed assignments. Some teachers have 0 late policy, but life happens. I'm not having my child stay up until midnight to finish an assignment; some aren't even a grade. Or stay up late to finish multiple assignments and study for a test. They need to be fresh for the test. Assignments are not coordinated - had 3 huge presentation/report projects due in 1 week. Would like to see a larger band. Would like to get rid of 0 late policy - can't always accommodate all the homework, especially if at a school function. Teachers need to respond to email. Edline grades need to be more timely.

My daughter loves McNair. She just completed her first quarter in 7th grade and made excellent grades. She enjoys the arts integration in the core classes and is excited about getting up and going to school so that she can participate in the amazing performing arts electives offered here. I am very happy to know there's a school that accommodates various learning styles and allows students of all levels to thrive. I know some might be turned off by the surrounding neighborhood but we have not experienced any issue that would make us worry and I know that if ever there came a time that we did, the staff and administration is more than knowledgeable on how to solve it and are completely capable. I love the welcoming nature of the school and the staff. They are kind and always willing to talk with parents who have any questions or concerns. When the principal greets your student by name, you know you're in a good place. Great programs, great academic support, encouraging and enriching environment, friendly administrators, staff and parents.
