Our experience with Stewart Middle has been excellent. Our son is in the 6th grade and we have no complains. Teachers are very passionate in their areas of expertise and manage to engage the kids in very intricate subjects. He's been able to participate in all the electives available to 6th graders, and join the John Glenn Top Gun Academy Club. They offer a lot of engagements with experts, trips to Kennedy Space Center, and opportunities to volunteer. The flight simulator has been an area of interest since last summer, he has me hunting down sales to put something similar at home.
He's been able to find a lot of other peers that share his interests, and has grown incredibly in his organization skills.
As a parent I feel relived in seeing how attentive and responsive the principal, teachers and the whole staff are to any of our concerns. I've even managed to volunteer and chaperone in some trips and felt welcome to do so every time.
Most important of all, we feel the change to middle school has been smooth sailing, due to how well organized and expertly run this school is.

This school is my sons first choice. It really fits his interest. The program they offer focuses on STEM and he gets excited and stimulated learning about coding, robotics, aerospace-the cool stuff! They have flight simulations, field trips to Kennedy Space Center , etc that reinforces the things they learn inside the classroom . I also love the fact that from time to time , they invite astronauts, engineers and other related careers for a talk with the students . This gives them the idea of what is ahead for them and the possible career path that they will eventually take.

Stewart has been a wonderful experience for my child and our family! Their accelerated math program has proven very rewarding for our son, and the association with NASA and other STEM-focused resources they provide make for a phenomenal middle-school experience that we feel lucky to enjoy!

I live in Plant city I wouldve never known about this school until I received an email inviting my son to come. He was invited into the math Academy because of his scores. I feel like this school was one of the best decisions that we ever made for him. It has opened up so many doors For him to learn and grow. With the John Glenn Academy he has got so many opportunities to visit and meet amazing people doing amazing jobs that he will probably one day be doing. This place is truly amazing.

Stewart has an excellent faculty and offers more High School Credit electives than any other middle school in Hillsborough County. They have amazing opportunities for students such as their Robotics Competition Team, the Cyber Patriot Competition Team and the only middle school Student Astronaut Challenge Competition team in the District. Stewart is the only middle school to offer Artificial Intelligence as a high school credit in the state. The school gives students many field trip experiences and opportunities to meet people in the Aerospace and Engineering industry.

this school sucks! I'm so unhappy all the time. Teachers are mean, fights all the time, and roaches and bugs everywhere! Bathrooms are discussing and always broken, I'm even thinking about transferring next year. I have to wake up at 5:00am just to go and get my time wasted.

Constant fights every single day, people who check up on the school time to time 100% do not know the reality, I've been bullied yet when my parents went to the principle she didn't even look like she cared, and it never stopped. The new school im going to is the one i should have went since the beginning all the 5 star reviews are from 5-6 years ago and all the new ones are 1 star for a reason, i got discriminated for my color (white) always got teased because of it, if you aren't a student you don't know the reality i have never seen so many fights i swear to god ever at any school except this one. I left this school a year ago because of this. The computer teacher or whatever his name discriminated girls of color gave us quizes every week and a video to copy if we didn't we would be lost the entire term (DO NOTT COME TO THIS SCHOOL)

i am a current student and this school and am fed up with the bully, multiple times i have contemplated taking my own life. I will not be attending this school next year, i would advise you to not send your children here .
I have been bullied countless times and just dont know what to do anymore, but if my struggles help other people i am fine with it .

This school is horrible and the administration do not do there job. If your child has any disability this school will not adhere to follow federal laws like following your childs learning plan. My oldest child 504 was not reviewed for his yearly evaluation which caused him to lose his additional time for testing. My youngest son have yet to meet with his school counselor to address his 504 and when speaking to the assistant principal about my son falling threw cracks. The lady said she needed to used pictures of black students as a reminder for her to do her job. (I would think your heart reminds you everyday) This school also is not for African American students. Another incident was with a teacher who texted me and said my son got sent home because she was tired and they both needed a break from each other. Just sad!!!!!!! My son maintain A s and Bs and I even took my child to get medication to accommodate the teacher. Im just disappointed in this school. The teachers or administrators do not look even check for kids with disabilities IEPs or 504s. I also can to school to speak with assistant principal for a plan of action and this was the assistant principles first time even looking at my child 504. She then told me that the guidance counselor would be in contact with per my request and again no follow up from assistant principal or guidance counselor. Then they just send a letter to threaten to kick him out of school. I honestly dont think they have the best interest for black kids with disability but continue to collect government funding.

I am a parent of a 6th grader and I have to say i'm extremely disappointed with this school. It is a Magnet school who advertises and networks itself as a school with all these elective programs for the kids however my son has yet participate anything that was promised to him. They RAVED about their simulators which half of the time dont even work. The 6th graders barely get to engage in any activities and the bullying is out of control. My son went from being a very humble laid back kid to now having to defend himself every where he goes. The Teachers are somewhat ODD and lacking organization & follow up skills. They rarely communicate with the parents when it comes to important issues however they will call a parent if a student forgot a pencil. The teachers bribe students with candy and show favoritism. The PTA is another joke. The school is predominantly African American and YET there are no African American parents on the PTA & I don't see the effort being made by the PTA to engage these parents. Certain parents know about certain things and unless you are at the school EVERY DAY and u don't work then you will find yourself out of the loop on many issues and opportunities. EVEN some board members are clueless as to what is going on. Work doesn't get graded and sometimes the teachers forget to assign homework to kids and then penalize them for not completing it. Everything is pretty much done on computer applications which takes away the concept of actually opening a book & referring back information learned prior in the day. THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO LEARN but I guess Stewart is unable to afford textbooks for the students. JUST A BIG DISSAPOINTMENT. If it wasn't for my son being accepted into their John Glenn Academy I would have already removed him. I know more then 10 parents already who are not letting their child return to Stewart next year and If I don't see any improvement I also will taking my son out.

The school has little tolerance with bullying. If it's caught by a teacher or administrator it is dealt with and disciplinary action is taken.

Before we started the year off with a bunch of work, the teachers took surveys on the style of learning that each student excels with. The part I was impressed with though was that the teachers actually tried to teach each of the different ways so that every student understood the material.
Posted: March 27, 2017
If their is a student in the class that has mastered a concept before the rest of the class they greatly enjoy students to share their ideas and to lead the other kids to a greater understanding Der standing if possible.
Posted: March 27, 2017
Teachers here teach you to be proud of your work and push you to excel I n what your compassionate at.
Posted: March 27, 2017
Teachers at this school don't play around and they make sure every student has the concept of the cirriculum down before they move on. But if for some reason a few students don't get the concept of what is being taught then the teacher moves on with the majority of the class and puts them on an assignment while they take the time to explain it to the kids who don't understand.
Posted: March 27, 2017
Teachers here are strict on homework and it's mainly due to the curriculum that they have to teach. Each assignment is worth alot of points and if the student fails to do an assignment it can really drop that students grade. So the teachers push the students to do their homework to the best of their ability. In my opinion this is one of the best qualities of stewart

I am a former student from stewart and this school is the best I have ever been to! The academic qualities of the school are outstanding and I loved how ever teacher pushed you to do your best. Truly a fantastic school!:)

They open the locker to my son and vandalized his books. In my investigation they told me that this situation happens offen. I do not understand why the principal did not solve this situation so unpleasant and frustrating.
These teenagers will vandalize the school campus if they do not control them.

I Love, love, love, love, love this school!!! When I first reviewed it for my son's 6th grade year, this site gave a rating of 6. Because of all this school has to offer however, I overlooked the low rating. I was right, this school has encouraged, motivated, and matured my son a great deal. He has learned so much, and is actually on the National Honors Society. I love all that this school has to offer, and only wish I could find the same or similar for my 7 year old daughter.

In response to the Grad Night comment, it was Busch Gardens that cancelled Grad Night and wouldn't reschedule. The School tried. And although I understand the idea of Grad Night, it should not be what a School is judged on.

Edsby its been really bad this year, I know is the teachers first year using it, but some of them don't update it at all, and personally I think Edline worked better, its not about the school because in other school is the same, and I like Edsby myself, but its not working with the grades.

Ive been at this school for three years and ive never had a worse 3 years yet. We really brings me over the edge with this school is what happened today. We payed $65 for grad night and after 2 hours of rain it got cancelled. We students wait for three years to graduate and then they cancelled it and they wont even reschudule the fiels trip. This school has changed me for the worst. Dont come here.

Stewart offers several after school clubs including Civil Air patrol (where they do all the usual CAP stuff AND they are building a (real) plane!,) and robotics club and team.

my son went from being a B student in Elementary school to being straight A student within 1 year. He is now in the Junior National Honors Society going into 7th grade... I could'nt be prouder. The education that these students are getting is pheonominal adn I wish I had a school like this around when I was in 6th grade. The electives that they have her range from tv media to marine biology adn robotics. The backing by NASA should say it all - if I haven't already.

We are the parents of an 8th grade student at Stewart. Although the middle school years can be challenging, we are very pleased with the education our son has received. For the most part he has had very engaged and encouraging teachers. The electives have been outstanding (engineering, robotics, marine science). The math department is outstanding and has given students the opportunity to take classes above grade level (such as algebra in 7th grade and geometry in 8th grade). 8th grade honors classes have been very rigorous and definitely are preparing our son for high school. Administration is very willing to hear suggestions and complaints and handle them. In three years we have had no problems with the neighborhood, although at first blush it might be unappealing. After school tuturing is available on a regular basis for students needing help. Some good clubs and after school activities and some great field trips.

This school is great! if you want to learn how to take care of your problems by yourself. i can safely say that stewart made me a man, i got into 5 fights in the time i was in there and earned the respect of everyone. my whole time in stewart was a big adventure, and i always got As and Bs. but it is not the school for the faint of heart. send your children here, they will turn into very strong and strict leaders. i recomend it.
