Enroll your kids to this school if you dont value the safety of your child. Hands down the worst school when it comes to safety and proper discipline. My son has been threatened to be shot at the bus stop by another student. The school claimed they followed protocol by deeming the threat to not be serious enough for action. The kid who made the threat continues to ride the bus because as quoted by the school they cant control safety at the bus stops. My son was then assaulted on the bus by a student who has been identified before for punching other students. Again the school decided to do a write up as their disciplinary action and left it at that. No suspension or parent contact. Oh which brings up the point that the school told us they dont contact parents about punishments. This school is negligent when it comes to holding violent students accountable.

After several years earning of our children earning straight A's and top testing scores at a private school in the area, we realized that they were academically behind, and their school was just trying to make itself look better to continue and receive our business. We switched to Brooker and our children first struggled academically but their staff was amazing and helped them catch up then advance.

Brooker Elementary has been an absolute nightmare for my children and for me to deal with. The Principal Heidi Koplin is condescending when speaking to parents, and intimidates children. They can not keep consistent staff to save their lives. I had to remove both of my children from Brooker Elementary due to frequent staff changes and inappropriate conduct with my children.

I have been overall satisfied with my childs progress here and the effort the teachers have made that go above and beyond to have made the school year a success even with the now necessary distance learning during the pandemic. Onsite and offsite have both been a success.
Posted: May 23, 2020
Homework is presented clearly with what will be expected for the week allowing me to plan out when my child will have access to me for completion of said work.
Posted: May 23, 2020
My child has hit all the important bench marks for his age due to the teachers involvement.
Posted: May 23, 2020
The effort is definitely made to instill good character in each child. Good behavior is acknowledged as is kindness to others. Children are made aware that they are seen and their actions both good and bad have consequences. Positive attention is paid to positive action.
Posted: May 23, 2020
I havent had any personal experience with their leadership.
Posted: May 23, 2020
While my child is not in of accommodations several children in their class do need accommodations and the teachers go above and beyond to try to make the class inclusive for them perhaps sometimes to the detriment of those who dont require the accommodations. To my child it is normal to be making those accommodations and being inclusive.

I cant speak to how bullying is handled at this point in time.

I love this school and the staff. My son will be attending kindergarten this year. I chose this school over our neighborhood school because the teachers and administrators are amazing!
Posted: May 22, 2020
It has been a wonderful experience for my child and as a parent. My child enjoys going to school at Brooker and has made many new friends this year.
Posted: May 22, 2020
My child was given homework on Monday and due by the end of the week. This was helpful by giving us flexibility during the week.
Posted: May 22, 2020
This was my child's first year at Brooker. He transferred from another school and we were not disappointed in the effectiveness of his teachers. He loved his teachers and they did an amazing job pushing him to his potential.
Posted: May 22, 2020
I like that the school focuses on developing character traits each month.
Posted: May 22, 2020
The current administration seems to always be present around campus and friendly.

Myself and my son both love Brooker! They have amazing teachers that go out of their way to help one another and kids that are not even in their classroom. You get a very friendly vibe just by walking around the campus. Teachers are out saying hello! Everyone is very kind and welcoming. I also love the events that the school puts on for my kids. We love going to movie nights, summer readings, skate nights, etc! He loves seeing all of the staff there and there are always tons participating. I would recommend Brooker to anyone that asks me where they should send their kids.
Posted: May 22, 2020
The focus is on the classwork, not the homework. Teachers work hard with their kids in the classroom to assure that they do not even need homework.
Posted: May 22, 2020
All of the teachers and staff go out of their way to do what is best for the kids. This includes hosting FREE events that they do not get paid for and take time out of their own families schedule to bring the community together. After school clubs allow the kids to explore interests. Again, something on their own time.
Posted: May 22, 2020
Brooker has implemented a leadership program that allows all children to grow into leaders. This includes a character trait monthly with celebrations, as well as PBIS points for showing these characteristics through out the day. My son loves receiving these point not just from his teacher, but from all staff members around the school.
Posted: May 22, 2020
If I have ever had a problem, administration has been very cooperative and quick to respond. Mrs. Kelly goes out of her way to work with children that need help or even to reach out to the community for ideas.
Posted: May 22, 2020
Not only do they support those who have learning differences, but they support ALL students 100%.
Posted: May 22, 2020
Brooker is a zero bully zone! They have amazing guidance counselors who teach lessons in the classroom as well as pulling small groups for extra guidance. The teachers are aware and proactive to keep bullying to a zero.
Posted: May 22, 2020
My daughter is given minimal homework. Only that which is needed to help her better understand the concepts they are learning. If I have questions about her work I feel very comfortable asking the teacher about it and they always are accommodating.
Posted: May 22, 2020
Teachers are required to take courses to renew their certification and keep up with teaching practices. My daughter has improved accademically each year with their constant support. They have the TEACHER OF THE YEAR at Brooker, which is pretty amazing!!
Posted: May 22, 2020
Every month the kids are taught about a new character trait. They practice using that trait all month long and then the kids get to choose the student that best displayed the trait and that kid get's an award. Pretty cool!
Posted: May 22, 2020
Administration has always taken the time to hear my concerns and tries to do what is best for the students! They listen to the parents and the teacher, but their main goal is to help the students!!! Some people have posted very negative comments and that is ridiculous. They need to remember who the administration is there to serve.
Posted: May 22, 2020
My daughter has a 504 and was getting below level scores. Brooker teachers always followed the 504 guidelines and even offered her free after school tutoring. Her teachers have been very supportive to her self-esteem and academics. Now she is on level and getting A's and B's.
Posted: May 22, 2020
I can't believe the comments some people are making about the teachers bullying kids. This is outrageous! My daughter is entering 5th grade and each year her teacher is her favorite because they are so kind and loving. She still visits her past teachers to give them hugs in the morning.
My daughter has not had any problems with any bully at school.
Posted: May 22, 2020
Overall, this is a great school. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the teachers really do want their kids to succeed and the administration are very supportive!

Depends on the teacher seen good, and bad ones.
Posted: August 12, 2019
Teacher bully kids there had to move my daughter out of a class there because of it.
Posted: August 12, 2019
It is like I'm going to a school in martial law state more about indoctrinating kids. Not teaching them to be leaders, but leading them astray.
Posted: August 12, 2019
Depends on the extent of their learning condition I would say no.
Posted: August 12, 2019
The principal, and teachers are the bullies. They harass the kids of the parents who challenge what they are doing there. Also harassing the parents if they speak out against something that is happening to their child.
Posted: August 12, 2019
I would give them a two for the few teachers who were all right there, but hard to teach when you are told what to do.
Posted: August 12, 2019
Had to pay for tutors because the teachers didn't spend enough time teaching lessons only taught with in a week, and expected kids to know it already.

We have been here for 5 years now with our second child going through. The staff does a great job with what they are given. The parent participation in the PTA is dismal which is sad because the parents who complain never do anything to help out when and where needed.

No, they put my child down on a daily basis. Principal threatens to send to a different school.
Posted: January 23, 2019
They more like NWO followers, want to indoctrinate your kids.
Posted: January 23, 2019
Posted: January 23, 2019
The admin, principal, n teachers are the bullies.

I would give them a 0 for effort.

Posted: May 2, 2017
The staff has no respect for any one not even the parents. I have never witness such unprofessional behavior from a educational establishment in my life. The whole front office should be removed along with that awful principle.
Posted: May 2, 2017
Some are good most of the better teacher have left the school due to Kelly's policy's
Posted: May 2, 2017
They send hours of home work home because the teachers don't get as far as they need in the lesson because of the mentally ill ratio in the classes. They take up most of the teachers available time.
Posted: May 2, 2017
This school is why we home school. Kelly is a ridiculious woman on a power trip, who only cares about how many fed grants she can get for handicap and foreign children. The school has went down hill very quickly under her reign. She don't listen to anyone not even the teachers that try to tell her what's going on in the class rooms. The school has lost many great teachers due to Kelly's ignorance. The PTA Is not much better they all collect extra materials from students at the beginning of the year such as 4 boxes of crayons. Your child gets 1 while they wrap the other 3 in a package to sell to the parents the following year as" school starter kits for 25.00 with 4 more packs of crayons and all the other extra materials they keep selling year after year. Thus the circle turns & turns. That school is a scam and the best thing that could happen is for Kelly to be fired! We have already reported her to the DOE on a federal level. Hopefully she will serve time for all the crooked back door deals she pulls.

No support from the Principal for the best interest of the students. I've raised three plus generation's in Brooker Elementary in the 1990'S, the Principal was supportive of the parents that had a concerns for their child. I have reached out to Mrs. Kelly for various year's from when she was Ms. Lacey and did not receive the support to resolve a situation for the best interest of the student.

I've never had my child treated so Terribly. He's always been an A student, gifted & fool of love for learning. This one teacher is a bully, my son never felt this way about school until we brought him to Brooker elementary. He now hides in his room Cry's and begs me not to send him because of how she treats him. I'm so over it! And if the school can't help me and change his class. I'm not going to be a happy mother.

Brooker has a tremendous faculty and staff who truly care for each and every child at this school. My daughter spent 6 years at Brooker and it was the best educational experience she has had in Hillsborough County. Turnover is low and everyone welcomes students and parents! There is an unofficial motto started, I believe,by a former principal. "Once a Brave, always a Brave!" My daughter definitely agrees!

I give the school an average rating for FL schools. Compared to our school we came from out of state it would get 1 star though. My biggest complaint is the front office staff. They are rude and not welcoming to parents or students. Thats not what I like leaving my kids with all day. Some teachers are great while others are not friendly. I volunteer weekly and most teachers can't say hello. They offer no activities/clubs nor any sports for the kids. My girls enjoy school here but I don't see either being challenged. This school also waste a lot of paper. My kids bring so much home. In today's time with technology, they need not be wasting so much paper. Updates should be posted on the website instead.

This school is acceptable I suppose compared to some other public schools, however this school particularly seems to have a higher than usual number of "special ed" kids, as well as English as a second language kids. This leaves your normal children a bit high and dry. My son has been at this school going into his 3rd year, every year he has had mentally, emotionally, behavior issue kids in his class, at least 4-5 EVERY year so far, with no extra teachers. The average kids are not getting the attention they need to excel and do better because the sub-average kids require enormous amounts of time and energy using up the limited resources a teacher has to offer their class. They cannot get rid of these kids, nor is it acceptable to put them in their own class, so the whole class is dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. We are moving, so I have no changed my sons school, but I cannot WAIT to get him OUT of this school!!!!

We moved our child to Brooker this year as she was on special assignment at another HCPS. Wish we had made the change to Brooker many years ago. The principal is excellent and helps put education at the forefront. Many extra curricular activities are offered after school hours. AAAA+++++ School
