Shepherd of the Woods has made our transition out of homeschooling a blessed experience. I love the communication between staff and parents, the opportunity to be involved through the year, the small classes, and the faith based approach to building future leaders in our community.
Overall, I would rate our experience as a top notch experience.

In the primary class, we never had more than a sheet of review homework for the week. Occasionally a bonus sheet would be sent home to encourage parents and students to work together & explore their learning opportunities.

Homework is assigned as needed and focused on reinforcing concepts that the students are struggling with. Even when homework is assigned, the amount is minimal and can be completed in a short amount of time.

The teachers truly care for all of their students. Teachers get to know their students as individuals and build a positive relationship with them. Because of the small instructional groups, teachers are also able to work more closely with students who are struggling. All of the teachers love coming to work and you can tell by their interactions with students, parents, and other staff!

The school emphasizes learning to care about others in everything they do. It's part of the school's motto - "Learning, Loving, Serving." Students are taught Christian values and have an opportunity to practice acting by those values everyday, even outside of Faith class. If there is a conflict, students are taught how to resolve the conflict in a way that is appropriate and maintains the dignity of all involved. The students learn to accept all people as they are, recognize the unique gifts each individual has, and how to appreciate everyone's differences.

The leaders of the school make every decision with the students in mind. The principal is closely involved with the teachers and students. When there is an issue, the leaders are willing to work with the students, families, and teachers to find a solution that benefits everyone involved and aligns with the school's mission and values.

Students are broken into groups based on their functioning grade-level instead of their enrolled grade-level. This is great for students with learning differences because it allows them to work at the level they can successfully perform at and fill in any gaps they have. At the same time, this is also great for students that are working above grade-level, as being placed in more challenging work that is appropriate for them.

Because the school is so small, the teachers are aware of everything going on in the classroom. The school does not have a problem with bullying, but if a situation of bullying does arise it is immediately addressed by the teachers and principal.

Shepherd of the Woods is a unique school that focuses on helping the students reach their fullest potential and understand how to use their God-given gifts to help others. The school's use of the station rotation model of blended learning allows for students to work with teachers and each other in small groups and work at their own pace on the computer programs. The students know they are cared for and will tell you themselves that they feel safe. The teachers are dedicated to the students and communicate with parents regularly about what is going on with their child. The Christian environement helps the students learn to care about each other. The school is like one big family where all are welcome.

I have two boys at Shepherd of the Woods and this is our sixth year there. We love the blended learning curriculum, the small classes, and the caring teachers and staff. My boys LOVE going to school because this learning environment does not make them feel left behind and different from other classmates. They also learn the value of making good choices, which mirrors what we teach them at home.

This was the only private school I found that offered blended learning. I have always wanted my son with Autism to have many opportunities to interact with his nondisabled peers. It's always been a struggle in the public school setting to get him inclusion. At SOTWLS, they offer comprehensive academic services and the opportunity for my sons to grow socially as well in a positive and caring environment.

Small comfort school that work with the Individual needs of every kid. This is my kid second year and 'm very satisfied with not only the learning also he maturity as a young boy in his interactions.

I have two boys attending SOTW, one is in Pre-K and one is in first grade. I absolutely love this school. My oldest has ADHD & SID. He had a horrible Kindergarten experience at another school. Through love, attention and encouragement he has been able to work through the negativity left from his experience. He has grown and flourished in his academia, behavior and social aspects. He loves going to school and is excited to go every day. Mrs. Chestang and Dr. Speagle are Godsends. We work together as a team with open communication. The environment is structured with the option for additional resources. The teachers know all of the students and their needs. My youngest enjoys learning and is excited and ready for Kindergarten. Excellent care extends to extended day and summer camp. There is not enough space to explain just how grateful we are to have found such a wonderful institution for our children.

My youngest son was in prek this year with Mrs. Beamer and my oldest son was in Kindergarten with Ms. Gulliford. They absolutely love going to school. The teachers are very caring and attentive. The classroom size is small and most importantly, all the children learn about God throughout the day! My son is on the ASD and I can't begin to explain how helpful they have been.
