My 5 year old kindergartener and 8 year old second grade granddaughters were dropped off at the wrong bus stop by a driver that could understand English when he was told it was wrong! They had to go home walking a mile on a very busy street and were over an hour late getting home exhausted! When the school was called the assistant principal hung up on the calls twice!

This school has NO concern for students. A kindergarten student, age 5 was dropped off at incorrect address by a non-English speaking bus driver and had to walk a busy street for a mile. When school administrators were called they hung up phone twice! Disgusting and dangerous!!!

Gibsonton Elementary has worked VERY hard to improve the school. They have worked with families, students, staff, community members and partners to become a Community School, where all voices are heard as part of their collaborative leadership efforts. Students have more opportunities to be leaders in their education and across the campus. Families are able to participate in frequent (if not monthly) events and have a high-level of communication, participation and partnership with classroom teachers and support staff. Partners and Community members have joined together with the school to increase access for students and staff, while also becoming advocates for the school. Staff have successfully worked with one another and students to increase student learning year-after-year as measured by state and district assessments. The school takes measures to address community and home barriers with a food pantry, clothing closet, hygiene support, Kicks (shoe) for school, Empowering Parents (learning resources for the home), and advocating with the community to create a safety environment for all (such as new streetlights and sidewalks, and partnering with the community to install sewer systems) all with the goal to increase student access to classroom supports, expanded and enriched learning time and create partnership with families. This year the school has peer-to-peer mentorship and more to support students across all grade levels.

My three children have attended Gibsonton Elementary since Kindergarten. The last few years things have not been up to standards for my children's best interest. It has been to the point of discrimination. We were encouraged to proceed with a gifted screening for one of my daughters and so we agreed. Once test results were final my husband received a call stating that if my daughter falls within the minority category she is considered gifted, but she is not listed as a minority so she is borderline so it is recommended she continue with normal classes. My younger daughter has had many educational delays that require some additional help I do appreciate that after constantly pressuring and trying to be heard it was addresses and she is able to excel which such accommodations. The issue is that it took numerous attempts to be heard in regards to our request (s) and concerns. Some teachers are awesome go above and beyond! Bullying needs to be addressed more and consequences need to immediately be enforced! My daughter is grateful this is her last year! Overall the school excels in certain areas (minimal) but can improved.

This school is a bullies schools and nobody does anything about it. I don’t recommend this school at all. The staff is very rude and it’s not safe for kids that are sensitive. My kids get home crying from school because some kid told them very offensive bad words. My other son was bullied by a 5th grader. I havea sensitive kid that I had to get him in therapy because he didn’t wanted exist because he was bullied constantly. The principal just put instructional videos for them not to do it again but they end up doing it again and again. They need to come up with some other plan, before any other kids gets hurt or something bad happens.

The way they try to brush every problem under the rug is terrible. Fix the school or just shut it down. The way the staff and Principal Guy talks down to people is nuts. So glad we ended up going to Symmes.

Alot of times the paperwork is in complete. In some cases there should be an outline to the lesson explaining in what way the teacher is looking for an answer. My child has answered a problem correctly but was marked wrong without explanation why it was wrong when clearly it was correct. Apparently there's other ways to answer the problem. But again with out done cliff notes for us parents we are literally banging our heads on the wall in frustrations

Some teachers are very much involved while others showed little interest in communication

On a scale 1-10....3. No playground equipment. Lack of communication. In affective homework practices. And I've reached out to help do fundraiser & never heard back..... UNINVOLVED!!

Although there are alot of students that I have heard of that head lice, I'm not sure why other parents believe that it's the SCHOOLS responsibility to control it! Head lice come from the home into the school, so at some point parents need to start taking responsibility of how there homes are managed and stop trying to blame the SCHOOLS fro everything. I love Gibsonton they all do as much as they can in the time that they can. Instead of complaining all the time take the time to take with the school about what YOU can do to assist them instead of putting them on FULL BLAST on a website!

This school has a BIG problem with headlice and they can NOT seem to keep it under control. Also some of the teachers have a problem with keeping in touch with parents I have two daughters who attend here and the one of the reading teachers would pass messages to my oldest daughter about my youngest instead of calling me herself they have my number and email ..this school had better start turning things around or my daughters will not be students at this school any longer
