My daughter joined Franklin Academy at the end of February 2026, transitioning from elementary school to middle school mid-year. This has been her favorite school so far. Every day when I pick her up, she has the biggest smile on her face.

The teachers and staff truly dedicate their time to helping students learn and succeed. They even go out of their way to provide after-school tutoring and continuously encourage studying and education.

I highly recommend this school to any parent looking for a supportive, caring, and academically focused environment for their child.

We couldnt be happier with our daughters experience at Franklin Academy. From the very first day, the staff and teachers have gone above and beyond to create a welcoming, supportive, and inspiring environment.

The teachers are not only highly skilled but also genuinely passionate about their work. They know each child as an individual, recognizing their strengths and encouraging them in areas where they need growth. Our daughter comes home excited to share what shes learned, and its been amazing to watch her confidence and curiosity grow.

The school strikes a wonderful balance between academics, creativity, and character development. They place a strong emphasis on kindness, respect, and responsibility, which we see reflected in our daughters everyday interactions.

The communication with parents is excellent we always feel informed, involved, and valued as part of the school community. The leadership team is approachable, proactive, and clearly dedicated to every childs success.

Most importantly, our daughter feels safe, happy, and motivated to learn. She loves going to school every morning, and as parents, thats the greatest gift we could ask for.

We are so grateful to be part of the Franklin Academy family and would highly recommend it to any parent looking for a nurturing and outstanding educational environment.

Please do NOT send your children here unless you want them to be bullied and have the teachers condone and allow it. My child has had her teacher witness racist bullying from other students, and did absolutely nothing about it. No child should have to hear from another student that "they don't touch black people" and no child should ever have to see their teacher agree through their inaction. Shameful! No correction of behavior or reprimanding was enacted toward the racist student, but my child is the one who gets the scolding?? What timeline are we living in exactly?? Never thought I'd be paying money to have my child be a victim of hate and ignorance. This school's staff needs serious help.

The start of the school year at Franklin Academy has been incredibly frustrating due to multiple fees piling up with unreasonable payment deadlines. In just a few weeks, my family has already spent over $650 on uniforms, school supplies, field trip shirts, Dressdown days, and even Picture Dayanother unexpected cost with little notice. Now, we're being hit with an additional $100 for a local field trip due in just 13 days, and I'm sure the yearbook fee will be next.

When I raised my concerns with the school, I received a reply that brushed off any attempt at understanding. They claimed the payment deadlines for activities like the field trip are set by third parties and are "non-negotiable." They insisted that the school must adhere to these deadlines to secure reservations. This response was incredibly disappointing, as it showed no consideration for the financial strain parents are facing.

Franklin Academys response made it clear they have no regard for how these rushed deadlines impact families. It feels like the school is operating on its own schedule without factoring in how parents manage their finances. Budgeting for these costs is nearly impossible when we're given so little time to plan or pay. Its not just about the moneyits about being realistic and considerate of families' financial realities.

One example of this is the ridiculous cost of a local field trip, nearly $100 for an outing in the area. Theres no reason for a simple local field trip to cost this much, especially when parents are already paying for other expenses. And Picture Day is just another unexpected cost that was thrown at us with no advance warning or flexibility. Its becoming clear that Franklin Academy is more focused on meeting its own schedules than on being reasonable with families.

The schools reply to my concerns only further demonstrated their lack of flexibility. They said they couldnt adjust the deadlines or offer more time for payments. The lack of willingness to accommodate parents, especially those already burdened by the high costs of the start of the school year, is frustrating.

Franklin Academy needs to rethink its approach to payment deadlines, improve communication with parents, and understand that we cant always meet these demands without more time or flexibility. Until they do, it feels like parents concerns dont matter at all.

**Frustrating and Incompetent Drop-Off Process**

The drop-off situation at this school is completely unacceptable (specially the first month) . As a parent, Ive repeatedly found myself stuck in a traffic jam for over 20 minutes on Pines Boulevard, followed by another 10 minutes inside the school, only to be handed a tardy slip despite arriving *early*. This is a complete waste of our timeparents are doing their best to be punctual, and yet the school's inefficient system consistently makes us late.

Whats even more infuriating is the disregard for the value of parents time. No one at the school seems to care about the logistical burden on families. We have jobs to get to, and we shouldnt have to sacrifice our mornings because of mismanagement on the schools end.

Equally frustrating is the attitude of the school staff, who act as though theyre the only ones who matter. Theres zero accountability or willingness to listen to parents concerns. Were treated like the problem, not the schools broken system.

This needs to be addressed immediately. The school should be prioritizing an efficient, respectful process, but instead, it's creating more stress for everyone involved. I expect better.

My children came from another school where they had good results, but they were not happy, they were not able to make friends, in my experience my children were able to advance in their social skills, in learning another language and were able to be happy, their teachers were the engine of learning with much love and professionalism in their work, they made my children adapt and achieve phenomenal results. The directors and student counselor are passionate about caring and forming good people, they really exceeded my expectations and to see that my children are happy in their school fills me with peace of mind, I recommend it 100%.

Estoy muy sorprendida de ver que en la Graduacion # 28 premiaron y con justicia al mejor deportista, mejores alumnos en cada materia, al que toca instrumentos musicales, al que inicio toda su educación en el.mismo colegio, al de buena conducta etc etc. Pero excluyeron, no fueron tomados en cuenta, ni mencionados los alumnos que son ESTUDIANTES DE HONOR A NIVEL NACIONAL. Es que acaso NJHS Las siglas que esto representa no tiene validez?

Como bien decimos en Argentina; no se queje si no se queja
Cuando recibimos la noticia de que nuestro hijo había salido sorteado en la lotería de Franklin y de acuerdo con el ranking de la institución nos alegramos mucho. Estábamos muy entusiasmados con el colegio, con el ranking y con lo que se veía de afuera.
Sinceramente hemos tenido una experiencia desastrosa en Franklin por diferentes razones, mi hijo tiene un retraso en el lenguaje, speech delay, speech language impairment, o en español trastorno especifico del lenguaje. Solamente en Franklin confeccionaron un programa 504 que nada tiene que ver con su problema del leguaje. Nos hemos sentido en todo momento totalmente desamparados, sin seguimiento, sin apoyo y con el agravante de ver salir a nuestro hijo triste cada jornada. Siempre un problema distinto, que un compañero lo molestaba, que le pegaban, lo empujaban y se golpeaba, se reían de él, no querían jugar con él, etc. Todos los días viendo a nuestro hijo salir triste del establecimiento y sin que medie ninguna sanción para ninguno de los alumnos o pedirle a nuestro hijo que hiciera algo distinto. Al momento de comunicar que decidimos retirar a nuestro hijo del colegio, a los cinco minutos me llego un correo para que firme la salida. ¿Estaban esperando que tomáramos la decisión? Sera cierto que los charters no quieren problemas con chicos que tienen dificultad? ¿Esto puede perjudicarlos en el ranking? Son preguntas sin respuesta, pero espero que quien lea se las haga antes de aceptar la propuesta de esta institución. Completamos la salida en tiempo récord, nadie se ha comunicado con nosotros para debatir la razón. Algunas de las razones que he mencionado, falta de empatía, falta de acomodaciones especiales con respecto al lenguaje, varias situaciones de bullying, falta de flexibilidad para facilitarnos cualquier pedido, falta de cuidado, falta de calidez humana, falta de comunicación relevante, falta de seguimiento de la evolución de los alumnos. Franklin se jacta de buena comunicación y llevan el Inbox o sms con sorteos, donaciones, etc. Pero cuando se trata de algo importante no lo comunican. Son desorganizados, burocráticos e inflexibles.
En pocas palabras, no recomiendo al colegio, ni la curricula académica, ni la calidad humana. De hecho, carecen de calidad humana, de hospitalidad, de cariño, amor, vocación, pasión, etc. Ezequiel Aiello

This is an school that I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND to anyone. The lack of professionalism, ethic, values, morals and integrity are horrible.
They don't care about the students, they only care about their system.
Teachers are rude, mean and disrespectful with parents and kids.
If you want a school that really knows the value of education, integrity and loyalty , Do not bring your kid here.

The teachers put books in your face and tell you to just write from them. The teachers are disrespectful even embarrassing students by bringing them to the front of the class and screaming at them. The principal allows the teachers to do these harsh disciplinary actions. They treat us like this to get us ready for our job and Im pretty sure they think we are all going to have an office job. All jobs are different, and they are limiting students abilities, by making them sit straight and tuck their shirts in and be quiet and if your good, you pass off with no embarrassing or harsh disciplinary actions. Its truly saddening how Ive seen students who are very obviously misunderstood get treated like they are zoo animals. The education sucks, and the rules that they have (which they say is to keep us safe but really just dont trust us) that are insanely strict cause students to want to go to less strict public schools. They dont trust us, and so they impose these crazy rules and disciplinary actions on us, and expect us to trust them. Its truly harmful to a students still forming brain. School is a place where you learn about yourself and your future, but they see it as a place you go to learn how to be good to get raises because to put it simply, thats how they see things with their job. They follow the rules and make their boss happy and they get more money. That is such a bad mindset to portray onto students/children. I truly do not see myself graduating at this school, because if I did, I would feel like I missed out on the true high school experience. Something needs to change, and if nothing does, I will be apart of the vast majority of students that will be transferring to another public school.

My child has had a great experience at Franklin Academy. She's had excellent teachers that really care and her performance. The school offers great online resources for at home practice, it is even available to them over the summer. They have several events where families are invited which gives a great opportunity to meet other students, parents and faculty. Overall, my daughter loves the school!

As a student who's been attending this school since Kindergarten, I feel like I've wasted my years here.
Bullying- They absolutely do nothing about it, at best they do the bare minimum. This is a heavily cliquey school, if you're not a certain thing or don't appear a certain way, you will ABSOLUTELY be shunned. I was discriminated and bullied when I was in 3rd grade for being East and South East Asian and for being a girl. This went on for MONTHS and the most they did for me was just scold the clique that bullied me. Even now today, my group of friends are discriminated for being apart of the LGBTQ community and for being POC. The teachers witness this, and all they do is go "Oh it's just kids being kids they'll be fine" No it's not fine. A group of children are actively being discriminated against in a place where I'm supposed to be safe.

Teachers- You can tell they're heavily underpaid, yet some laze off. My science teacher does nothing and teaches us the bare minimum, yet he acts like that's teaching and getting us prepped for high school. My PE teacher has heavy bias issues, if you cross him once then he's more likely to mark down your grade, he does not accommodate for students with issues (mental, physical). For some odd reason, my Spanish teacher, who's supposed to be TEACHING us, can't speak English, which brings the issue of students who aren't fluent in Spanish trying to learn the language.

Low income- Though I do not come from a low income background, I can say with the prices and the way things work here it's best not to come here if you're low income. The uniforms are unreasonably expensive, it takes a while for them to even ship to your home.

Mental health support- In my opinion, they don't accommodate for mentally ill students well. My brother had a mental breakdown, all that happened was that he was thrown in the mental hospital for a day and nothing else. Nowadays, you have to go through a lengthy process to seek help. If you're in immediate mental distress, you have to go to the upstairs front office and fill in a slip. However, if you just need to vent something, you're either granted a pass to frequently go there that you have to show to your teacher or you have to ask your teacher to email the counselors and hope that you're able to be sent there. It's overall up to the teachers if you're allowed to seek the mental help you need on campus, rather sad.

Layer ethnic, disability discrimination along with no actual education outside of coloring worksheets, and there you have what Franklin Academy offers. So if you want your child to be punished excessively for sharing food or questioning punishments, then send them to Franklin. Besides being openly humiliated at school, Franklin goes further by using local police to punish students and family members.

My son attended Franklin Academy from Kindergarten-the middle of 5th grade, when we moved to another state. Living elsewhere, I see that the education he received at Franklin was truly top notch. His teachers and admin staff were engaged and respectful. I highly recommend Franklin.

Amongst the many schools to select for your children, Franklin Academy K-8 by far was the best choice we made. Overall the school is an amazing partner to the parents while focusing on each individual child's learning needs. This is year 3 for us and we are truly grateful and appreciate the holistic approach and family environment which supports our child. The communication and partnership with the parents is amazing and they support their teachers to do the same. Safety is of utmost priority to them always parents up to date. It truly feels like an extension of our family over the last 3 years. As a parent who only wanted the best school for my small child, I am grateful for placing her at Franklin Academy Pembroke Pines (k-8).

I love this school! the staff selected and the job that they are doing on behalf of Franklin is awesome.. At the beginning of the year, my son said in his very first week that he loved ALL of his teachers and as the year has progressed, for the most part, he feels exactly the same. I know my child can be challenging as I have experienced the challenge first-hand. This challenge usually comes from a lack of inspiration. This year has been an exception and, again, I credit all the wonderful teachers. They have gone above and beyond and inspired my child and his classmates!! They have shown personal concern and care. They have been excellent communicators. I think most importantly, they have offered their teaching with levity, interaction, clear expectations, thorough reviews, excellent direction, and with the belief that their students can rise to the occasion.

At school my child's experience is great. Right now she has a 100% in pre-algebra and world history. The teachers understand that not all children learn the same way and they really do help them learn not just for a test but for a lifetime. The school doesn't have any homework, but sometimes my daughter does have to do work at home because she didn't complete it in the classroom. This school is also an IB school and they have many different programs for that as well.

Constant turnover of teachers. Hiring of teachers that leave and come back several times. No honor roll assemblies except for end of school year. No subject recognition except for specials. Boys are overlooked in the coed classroom. Lack of classroom books leaving teachers/parents to make excess amount of copies yet teachers have a limited amount of copies per semester. Very "Clique"y. If you're not part of the "clique, don't expect to get much out of it. Been waiting 8 years for a gym to be built. Overcrowded. Don't expect responses to your emails. If you complain about something, expect your child to get shunned. They definitely focus on the wrong things at this school.

Integrity, advocacy, respect are characteristics shown to children administrators admire. Teachers are the first line to characterization, as they are with the children majority of the day. However, if the teachers are displaying fairness in the classroom but, other administrators are not showing the same respect and integrity in the lunch room, or other school functions, kids are fully aware. This leads to bullying, dishonesty, and kids who find little to no interest in trying to live up to the schools key characters. Schools must show the same respect, compassion, and integrity to all students for it to really count! When they dont, and problems occur which are swept under the rug for certain students, kids feel there is no point. Moreso, those whose parents donate large amounts of money to school programs and fundraiser, tend to have their way or get a slap on the wrist quietly. This is a leading example of why kids in this school are more prone to being bullied. Especially when they witness administration allowing students to get away with these poor behavior choices.

The leadership skills are only an idea of the imagination. While they have great key character roles, administrators dont live up to the schools expectations for the students. Thus, reducing the morale of true leadership and overall displays favorable behaviors towards certain ethnicities. These are not skills of leadership, and one of the reasons I am pulling my son from the school. Leadership means adapting to needs of others and guiding them to their strengths, while ultimately overcoming weaknesses. This is only done with kids of Hispanic ethnicity, and shows just how very poor this schools leadership skills are.

There are not nearly as many resources available in charter schools to assist children with learning disabilities. The ratio to one counselor is insane! One counselor can not effectively manage an entire school of this magnitude. When we inquired about tutoring for a subject, the rate was $400/week should my son attend 5 days of 1 hr in tutoring a single subject. One of our fellow class parents paid for the one month, and was told by her son the test questions were the same as the ones reviewed in tutoring. I would rather have my child learn rather than be given the answer to pass.

Bullying is a huge problem within the school. Most of the incidents are swept under the rug, and poorly handled. They strive on great ratings but, at the expense of the students integrity and trust. The lunch room is one of the biggest arenas for bullying because its poorly supervised. Issues we have ran into have resulted because my son does not speak Spanish, and due to his skin color. Other issues revolve around cultural groups who gang up on others whom are non-Hispanic. I know it seems ridicule to say kids are bullying based off of culture but, in my experience there have been nasty comments regarding cultural differences between one student over another. It really shocks me being that this occurs as such a young age. I never imagined Id have this type of problem starting from kindergarten. I dont ever recall kindergarteners having so much animosity and lack of respect for others.

While my teacher were wonderful, my sons overall experience was below expectations. With great hopes for such a beautiful school, Me and my husband were quite disappointed on several instances. I am pulling my son from the school because of the lack of character, increasing bullying issues, and poor administrative skills to reach fair resolutions. My familys overall experience was a 4/10.

The school is set up as a no homework school. There are other assignments with iready and occasional handouts. Overall I knew what I was signing up for when my son started kindergarten but, Im finding that having homework allows the parents to be more involved in the childs learning. Kindergarten was fine with no homework as they are learning basic principles with all academia. Once my son started first grade, homework would have helped me to identify signs he was struggling in certain areas, where I could intervene.

For kindergarten we had the amazing Ms. Quintela. For first grade we had Ms. Pérez and later changed to Ms. Plana, both amazing teacher with amazing weekly and prompt communication! The teacher makes a huge difference in the scholastic experience. I will say at some point I have heard consistent reviews from fellow parent stating that the quality of teaching is not as great as the teachers in the earlier grades.

The worst school ever, even thought the campus is amazing what filled t those classrooms are worst. There is no rules or boundaries for those kids whom brought drugs, knifes, alcohol to the school, they suspended them for one week and they are back the next one. There is no communication between parents and school, the parents is the one who has to take the iniciative for a conference. The staff never knew what is happening even the principal, always made blind eye. Maybe in some years when they are able to rid of the bad kids and upgrade/trained the teachers it will be a better school obviously with a real follow up/supervision program to teachers and kids.

My experience here is one I'll never ever forget. All the staff is amazingly sweet yet still get you to where you need to be. If something were to happen, they'll take charge. All students are different, and it gives you a chance to find someone similar to you. They also tend to start many fun fundraisers. I never ever got a C on my report card thanks to this school. Overall, this school is one of the best I've ever been to.

Judging from how many new students are enrolling at Silver Trail that used to go to Franklin, I'd say our experience wasn't unique. Our son wasted a year at Franklin that we'll never get back. Ben Franklin would be embarrassed to see him name on this school.

This school lacks leadership and solidarity to the vocation and it's workers. Money will be kept from you, your insurance will be cut before it's time, you will be underpaid, and you will be grossly over worked. You will be expected to excel in things without having the proper time to prepare and will be forced to give students passing grades regardless of their actual effort in class. Charter school at its finest. Parents expect private school treatment and will expect their desires to be satisfied. Teachers unqualified teach courses outside their realm and are overworked to their quitting point. They do not staff the school properly and instead require teachers to do the extra jobs - yes, require.

Despite the outward effort of this teacher, the teacher's in-class instruction is extremely poor and has been proven ineffective. Lessons are not being learned in class. Worksheets are past out and expected to be understood and completed in class when the instruction is extremely unclear. Parents spending hours each night trying their best to reteach a skill, method or lesson to already frustrated students. Worst of all, it had affected an alarming number of students in having their worst grades in mathematics they have ever had. Red flags should have gone up by the second semester but nothing had been done to relieve the situation. Also, this school has had teachers leave in the middle of a semester in subjects like ELA and Science which I do not need to explain how critical these subjects are in a student's education and future. Instead of building strong and firm foundations in class, these students were forced to take the brunt of the burden of a new teacher gaining footing in the classroom and subject with their grades. That should not be happening in any school. Students grades and education should not suffer but much too often that is the case. Many of these teachers are poorly resourced and lack the help they need to effectively teach students. I do not place the blame completely on the teachers but rather I find it systemic of a broken school system both in public and public charter schools such as this one.

Online resources for math are not effective for teaching completely new concepts and methods. They are only good to reinforce lessons that the students have a good understanding already and require extra practice in order to solidify their knowledge on the skill or lesson. However, online resources lack the nuances and personal instruction that only a teacher can offer. Every class differs and only a teacher can dedicate time and knowledge as on to how to reach the majority of students in each classroom. Online resources are an aid, not a substitute for actual in class and one and one instruction, especially in such crucial of areas education such as Mathematics and even ELA.

This is in regards to Middle School teachers. It seems to be systematic of many middle schools. Teachers who are placed incorrectly in subjects they should not be teaching. There are teachers in this school that should not be teaching Mathematics or ELA courses. One of the Mathematics teachers in the middle school is very outgoing, reaches out to parents and is in communication constantly. However, the results of many of the students are C to F grades throughout the school year. Parents are at a loss on what to do as seemly the only option is to hired expensive tutors, not all families can afford to pay a tutor to reteach what should have been taught in class.

How can a school have "no homework" and still be effective? The kids get no work to take home to reinforce what's taught during the day. That's what homework is suppose to do. The policy they boast about is ridiculous because clearly work at home must be done in order to fully grasp the work once you get to a certain level and if they aren't giving it, then they are failing.

My kids have been at this school since they opened their doors 6 years ago. It started off great. As years have gone on, I have no idea what they are doing but it has changed. Teachers come and go rapidly. They are constantly fundraising. We had 10 fundraising projects in the first 9 weeks of school. They get the same money as the public schools yet are always fundraising? And they ask for donations in every single class once or twice a month even though they bring in supplies at the beginning of the year. The teachers constantly ask for printer ink, paper, glue, etc all year long and even ask for actual printers! The school require parents to volunteer 20 hours per child so they are not paying extra staff because they do a lot. They consistently plan field trips that cost a student $75-$100 a pop that quite honestly are not very educational. They are a charter school that is funded by tax payers yet are a for-profit school and nickel and dime the parents to death! Where does the money go??? They think they are a private school and want us to fork out money like it is. It's beyond ridiculous. I sincerely wonder if they are going to go out of business because they tried to expand too fast. That isn't our fault. We shouldn't be funding another campus. Everything is about putting on a big show so field trips to normal family weekend parks like Seaquarium or Parrot Jungle or even Disney are the norm. As a parent, I would prefer they focus on the education and making it fun instead of making it a big show to parents, kids and other schools. The show is in the student's performance and parent satisfaction and not in pageantry. There are some very nice teachers but the way the school is run is very poor, unorganized and cold. I'll do my best to support any teacher there because they are trying so hard but not the school as they are out of hand. I'm sure it all stems from the for-profit board that cares about dollars and not how they are enriching the children's minds.

The school is fabulous. I've raised 5 children and it is my 5th that is attending this school. I feel that his education and exposure is solid and that overall the teachers have done a very good job the one massive complaint that I have is that traffic is horrendous and horribly managed. I believe that more effort for a solution needs to be made. Whether it be stationing additional police officers at the intersections prior to the school not just at the entrance, starting a carpool program in the different neighborhoods that the children live in or implementing a strong transportation system ie buses which the school does not offer but should be added into the budget. Something..something something.

My son has been a student in this school since it's opening almost 5 years ago. Mrs. Elena Diaz, the new principal for the last year, has made a great positive difference. My only complain is that my son's teacher this year is not very good, compared to his 4 previous years. She is unstructured, inpatient and not very skilled on teaching. They need to ensure the quality of teachers, not sure if it's a budget issue as some people here suggest, but if next year we see a similar problem with the teacher, I will look for a private school.

A gymnasium is being built and Middle & High School Campus is Opening in 2016.

Great school, Principal Elena Diaz is the greatest. This is the third year for my kids in this school. The experience have being very satisfactory.
Teacher always reachable thru their website and emails same day, school doesn't use filters to your emails, so you get answers right away. Also many resources thru the school website.
Kids do around 2 to 3 fields trips to awesome places.
Drop off and pickups of the kids its a bit long but very organize and save for the kids.
The offer many different clubs for kids as after school classes or entertainment activity, they have a lot of fun while the learn. Cost is around one payment of $45 to $90 for one trimester.
School system is boys and girls not together in regular subjects, but good part is they interact together in specials classes which are P.E., Chess, Art, Spanish, Music and Media. I recommend you read about this particular way of learning, you will get amaze.
Finally one of the person clue in a Success of the school is the principal. This is the second year for Mrs. Diaz and the changes in the school are drastically different than before. This lady is always around watching behind everybody, you are going to see her in car lines, cafeteria, classrooms, walking in the halls... etc.

I rate this school a 3. The neighborhood is great. The school looks nice on the inside. The children are from good families. The teachers try..but their inexperience is painfully obvious. The lack of facilities is disappointing. No gymnasium, no auditorium. Never heard of a school like this before. I'm lucky that my child is naturally bright, and can pick up the lessons quickly on his own....but if he was in any way in need of remedial help...I'd have to hire a private tutor. If you are considering sending your child to this school, you will most likely be impressed by the area and the outside of the building. You had better have a bright child or money for tutoring. It helps if you're Latin or Jewish also...your child will be taken care of very well.

This is the second year that my children go to Franklin and we are very happy with this school, last year they had some struggles with the Uniform Company because it was a new system but this year I didn't have any issue at all, it was fast and the quality is much better. i am a student at Franklin Academy in pembroke pines. i have been at this school for 3 years (6th,7th, and now 8th) and i can honestly say its been a disaster. the teachers don't teach, the kids are so disrespectful, and the teachers are so rude to the kids. They act like they are teenagers, cursing and hitting their students. the administration is alright, but you never see the principal in any events, it's always either the guidance counselor or vice principals. i can say that this school improved in activities and such, but academically not so much. i wouldn't enroll your child in this school.

What a joke Franklin is. This school is run like a circus. The lack of knowledge administration has is unbearable. As a parent who has volunteered on numerous occasions, you would think they would get their act together when parents are around. No respect for anyone, not even themselves. This place is a money pit. All the investors worry about is where they are going to get their next dime. From their terrible uniform company and car system to the aftercare. The more students who enter this school, the more money they receive. My child was there for 5th and 6th grade and after the experience we had in middle school, it was time to get out of there. The knowledge my child gained in 5th grade was quickly altered in 6th grade. His math and reading skills went down drastically due to the inexperience teachers in middle school. Ever since we took him out and put him into Silver Trail, he's been happier and has retrieved all of that lost knowledge. As parents, we have a job to protect our children from situations like these.

I can honestly say that it is my opinion that the curriculum at this school is substandard- essentially no different than your average public school in the area. If you doubt this, please make an appointment and ask to see the student performance scores in each subject area. In fact, any parent can take a look at the materials and see this for themselves. There is constant turnover of personnel and staff and no accountability for the principal- until most recently. The classrooms are so small in the lower elementary school that they are equivalent to half the size of a public school classroom. In addition, please go back and read the principal's earlier reviews when the school first opened. Characteristically, the principal would argue and scream at parents, students, and even staff as a current teacher recently shared this with me in confidence. Did the principal really change or does she want to keep her job? Many unknowing parents will not know this information, so I feel it is my duty to share this with them. Please look elsewhere to educate your child as "smoke and mirrors" may work for some parents, but will not fool the wise and observant parent.

Against the odds with decided to register our girl in this school and It has been the best decision ever!! Our girl loves the school, her teacher and friends. The single gender system is working really good for her, she is an A student and still they get the chance to share with the boys all the specials, lunch and playground time. The specials are really good, they have art, music, chess and Spanish which allow the kids to experience different fields,and relax, and we don't get to pay extra for that. Additionally they have the clubs, which include drama, cheerleading, sports and chess for a very little amount, our girl is in the chess club and she is teaching us how to play. The teacher is amazing, she keep challenging them to improve every single day and she is been with the school from the beginning. The principal is a hard worker you will see her around the school trying to make things always better. The rest of the school's personnel is very friendly, it is such a nice atmosphere. Of course there is always room for improvement and they know it !!! So parents if you want a complete education for your kids try this school.

As a parent there is nothing new about this school. After 6 months nothing is new in the business world. And south Floridian educators, community leaders and parents need to get it together. I am very pleased with Franklin Academy. My kids have been in attendance since the beginning and I have not had a single complaint. They enjoy the various extra curriculum activities and clubs that are ongoing. My daughter in particular took part of the ceramics club and really enjoyed it. I also wanted to give a shout out to the PE coaches for their hard work and dedication during the most recent Field Day activities. Everything was well organized and the kids had a blast...Very proud Franklin Parent!!!

Franklin has been so far a better school for my kids. The best teachers they have had since attending a neighboring public school. All my child's teachers have degrees, I have personally met and research each and every one. The statement of hiring rejected teachers sure sounds like a resented rumor to me, if not please list those teachers out so parents are aware, I highly doubt you will. We have been with the school from day 1.

Regardless of what you think of the school, some of the information you've been give is incorrect. ALL of the teachers and I mean ALL of them are REQUIRED by state law to be certified by the State. Now you may not like the state requirements for certification but ANY AND ALL schools that receive public funding do not have an option of whether their teachers are certified or not, it is MANDATORY!!! I am speaking from personal experience as a teacher and parent. Please know that earning a degree and getting certified does not make you a good/great teacher anymore than learning to play hopscotch makes you an Olympic jumper!!!

We gave this school a chance. This is my child's third year. I knew it was a new school and assumed it would get better. Maybe it will someday but it sure hasn't yet. The teacher-parent communication is unacceptable. Starting in K, messages were passed to me verbally by my then 5 year old. You can't expect an elementary age child to accurately relay information to parents. My child is bright but won't get honors because of a B in P.E. Even in 1st grade they have number grades in P.E. for ridiculous things, like push-ups. One of my child's teachers actually recommended I look into the gifted program before realizing that there was none at the school. There is no gifted program for elementary school but they get a grade for push ups. PTO is virtually non-existent. There is a meeting tomorrow but notification only went out yesterday. That is not enough time for me to arrange care for my children as they are not allowed. There are some good reviews for this school but I would be genuinely shocked if they weren't written by parents who also happen to be employed by the school. I was enthusiastic and excited about this school when we began there but my child will not return next year.

No stars for FACC..thought we were lucky getting in, what a mistake, our child is middle school age, and it was the worse experience! Now I understand the policy of no cell phones. They don't want the kids calling there parent on the horrific things going on in school!! Not to include the absence of adult supervision and guidance! Huge lack of teaching kids,, teachers not required to have teaching degree. It has been a waste of education for 4 months. This school is good, not the best, but good. I am a middle school student, and yes, there are downs in this school, but they work it out, somehow. The only thing I am really upset about is that there aren't any real ADVANCED stuff. One real problem is that there isn't much communication between teacher and parent, from a student's point of view. Half the time, I don't tell my parents what I do in school, and the teachers don't regularly update parents. Another major problem is that the teachers are "poor. My sister is in elementary, and her teacher just resigned. The new teacher doesn't really update. My own teacher got fired (for some reason or the other) and the new one moves too slow in teaching the content. In one class, one teacher was gone, another was replaced and then gone, and now, that class has their 3rd teacher. I miss the really good teachers who were there last year. There are pluses too-they expanded their club choices, and got better field trips. For my 3rd year at Franklin (5th grade, 6th, and now 7th), they certainly have improved!

I was initially excited about my child being excepted to this school. The website boasts about innovative means of teaching and a challenging curriculum. Don't be fooled. It is all a bunch of smoke and mirrors. There is nothing innovative about this charter school. Administration is more concerned about fundraising than the child's academic progress. There is a lack of communication throughout the school and parents are kept in the dark. If your child is in a good school let them stay there.

My daughter is in 7th grade and the teachers all appear motivated, enthused and interested in making my daughter's experience very favorable. She is smart and being challenged by the teacher's expectations. This is a for-profit school. The main goal is not to offer students the best possible educational experience, but to make sure shareholders make money on their investment. Students are deprived of many many things to ensure the shareholders are happy. This school did NOTHING to recognize the efforts of the 5th graders that were graduating. At the very last minute a picnic was planned at a nearby park but was canceled due to Inclement whether. Some parents put something together for the kids to recognise their hard work at a cost of $30 for the student and $30 for the parent. Only one parent was allowed to attend. This event left a lot to be desired. I have removed my child from this school after a mediocre first year and a disastrous second. This school's administration doesn't have the student's best interest at heart. They're a business and their main concern is to make a profit at whichever cost. They keep opening up everywhere instead of concentrating on perfecting what they do. Most teachers are young and inexperienced. The school pays them a lot less than a public school would. Teachers are not happy and it shows. Do your own research...too many false promises.

This is my child's 3rd year and might be their last . I can only speak for my experience only. The only reason I have not changed my children to another school is that I don't want to be switching them around from school to school. The administration is poorly trained and false. A large and concerning amount of teachers are just poor educators regardless of number of years teaching ( but many those poor teachers have little experience). I was a very involve parent with over 85 hours of volunteer work each year. I wanted to make sure my children got the best experience despite the major school set backs. Such as poor teachers, no functional PTO, little activities for earlier grades, middle schoolers bulling younger children in bathrooms, false promises (just one week of chest if at all) , poor selections for volunteers, no gifted program for grade school children. NO science teachers or room (science taught by regular teacher) in a technology age having a specific teacher to teach science is a must. No auditorium or gym as other newly built Franklin schools have. The library is half full of books and it is small to begin with. No holiday show for k-5 . Poor online uniform provider.

My daughter will be starting her third year at Franklin Academy P.Pines this fall. She has excelled academically and socially. Her teachers, both young, have been well qualified teachers. I found them to be good role models, knowledgeable, energetic, inventive, and excellent communicators. My daughter has enjoyed the gender specific learning environment, variety of special area classes, and special events that occur throughout the year. I have appreciated the multi-cultural student body, clean and technologically savvy learning environment, and the excellent teaching staff. Franklin P.Pines went through some stressful growing pains in the first year, as any new school would. But the strong administration and great staff continued to put children and education first. We are proud to be a Franklin family!

We are happy to be a part of Franklin Academy since it opened. Don't believe the extreme negative feedbacks. Get a tour of the school and ask around. It is not bad to hire young teachers. They still have the education required to be a teacher. My childs' teacher is a young teacher but she brought in a different kind of energy that my child loves and the curriculum is still followed. With the common core coming in, I think young teachers will easily adapt to the new system. The school knows what it is doing.

Don't be fooled... this school is not as bad as some describe. There are still some kinks that need to be worked out but that is to be expected, especially in a new school. WHAT WORKS FOR SOME, MAY NOT WORK FOR OTHERS. This is a great school. It is safe, provides for a positive learning environment and offers an enriched academic program. The teachers and staff overall have been very helpful and intuitive to the students' needs. I believe EVERY school has room for improvement, no matter where you go.

Please take your child out of the school. We did. No experience whatsoever. If you have a child under the ESE program, it is going to be worst. I was expecting a wonderful atmosphere and it is a nightmare. It could be better in an inner city public school than here. This is a great school! My child has been attending this school for 2 years now. I like the single gender and I like the no homework policy - no homework as long as your child is performing well. Homework will still be given if the teacher think it is necessary for your child. Before the school opened in 2011 the principal told us "leave the teaching to us and spend quality time with your kids when they are at home". And this is what we have been doing as a family. We don't have to spend hours at night working on homework. This is a brand new school. It takes time to build your own staff. The school listens. They solved the morning traffic issue immediately at the beginning of the 2nd year. This school works for us but it may not work for others. The wait list is long for families who would like to be at Franklin. If it doesn't work for you feel free to leave. We would love for the school to have parents that would always seek on how to help rather than complain and think that the policies should be bend if it's against them.

The issues described are NOT due to being a new school, but rather based on the culture that is emerging in the school and due to lack of funding. Culture is based on how they conduct their business day to day.There are good teachers, some terrible, mediocre (they lack in either know how or people skills), many are inexperienced. See evidence of low funding. Don't see all students getting much on all that was advertised which include good civics. Early years are better, but missing many activities found in public schools. Franklin is not organized, a lot of lip service, but no follow through, reactive. Some classes in middle school are out of control, with teachers unable to deliver program because the students are poorly behaved.There is a lot of bullying, harrassment, and everything else that happens in public schools too..but it's not communicated openly. Walk the halls enough times and you will hear bad language, middle schoolers kissing, bouncing balls, skate boarding, texting, vandalism in restrooms. Don't be fooled - it is here too. Charters are funded 50% from public school budget and 50% privately. Weakens public, and both end weak - FL education is not good.

This is my daughter's second year with Franklin Academy. I have to say last year was a little nerve racking for us. But keeping in mind this is a new school and everyone was adjusting, we stuck through it. Agreeing with some parents that Franklin needs to sharpen up their Administration a little bit. I find some to rude, but than they have some who are very professional and polite. I personally have not dealt with the principal, but always seem pleasant when I was near. I have heard bad things about the public schools in South Florida, and parents need to realize, that ALL cannot be prevented, however I believe Franklins staff needs to learn to better communicate with parents, and just not through email. Overall Franklin is a great school. Every school has room for improvement and I believe Franklin will do just that. The one policy I wish would change is the policy of parents not allowed on premises during certain hours, or you have to pick up your child before 2pm for early release, or else you have to wait in car-line. Thats a bit extreme. But besides thats "Good Job Franklin Academy"! Looking forward to more great years!

This school is overall a good school with a few flaws but people have to realize this school is only on its second year. Good academics with a few really good experienced teachers while some are lazy,rude and yell at the students. Lunch is terrible and car pick up is a nightmare, but there are good after school care programs and clubs. The kids here are alot better than most schools and Franklin is a beautiful campus. Although, I do agree with saying they should stop worrying about building more schools, but perfecting the first one.

I love Franklin Academy, I have one child in Kindergarten and another one in First grade. So far the teachers have been great and very involved with the kids. It's a new school and there some areas for improvements. Those of you who do not like it, I hope you move on to another school that serves your needs. There are a lot of people waiting to get their children accepted in the school. We need positive parents that do not expect the school to do everything for them but instead, feel that is their responsibility to educate their kids at home too. I would recommend Franklin to any parent.

This is my son s second year and we've had a great experience overall. We went thru the growing pains of the first year and yes the pickup and drop offs are still longer than desired but the benefits do outweigh these inconveniences. For an involved parent these are minor tradeoffs for a great education. I compare with my daughter s public school and the communication between parents and teachers is superior. The technology is available to all parents and allows you to check for the students progress daily or whenever needed, up to the parent to use it. My son s teachers have been very much involved and genuinely concerned for his progress. Last year he received chess classes both as an after school club and as with his regular curriculum. Hopefully the bad reviews which all seem to have the same arguments will find a more convenient school option, and that will lead to some more open spots for my daughter to get in ;-). A stage is a great to have but not really in my priority list.

To correct my prior post ,the gymnasium is to be finished for the 2015 school year. Here is the last update we received on Dec of 2012... Pembroke Pines (K-8) - We are pleased to announce the acquisition of 4 acres immediately east/adjacent to our K-8 campus. This site will be the location of our new Gymnasium. We are currently planning facility completion by 2015 school year. This gym facility will include: full basketball and volleyball courts; locker rooms; resources for dance and wrestling; and, potentially theater amenities.

THIS SCHOOL HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE BETTER... PLEASE PUT MORE EFFORT.The administration and many of the under experience teachers are the main problems with this school. Beautiful on the outside but highly dysfunctional on the inside . Going on its second year and little improvement. I would not recommend this school to any one.

Our daughter is very happy in her second year at this school and her enthusiasm has produced excellent academic results. This is what counts! True there are several areas for improvement, but overall this is an excellent school. Pros: gender separation on core classes has proven positive, teachers have been really good, car drop off works great now (after a painful year of learning), uniform and discipline enforcement, academic program is good. Cons: chess class is still a promise w/o delivery, pickup is painful, parent involvement limited to lunch help or car line, PE and recess are many times skipped, communication with parents depends on the teacher's communication skills and does not follow a standard.

School promises a lot but doesn't deliver on those promises. Chess not taught in classes. Little to no activities for k-2 grades. Most teachers with less than 3 years of experience. Staff mostly rude and two faced. The has no interest in science and don't report the science scores for lower grades as to promote a false school grade. Car pick up and drop off are nightmares. The school distances themselves from parents and do not promote parent involvement other than volunteering for lunch help or car line. Parents are not allowed to walk children to school . There are no park and walk up options. Franklin Academy is more like a fast food franchise as they are more interested in opening up more Franklin schools than perfecting the first one they open. In other words it is a business.

My son was very lucky to win the lottery to enter on Kindergarten on the first year of the school. First of all the school is separated by gender which turn out to be very beneficial for the students. They are able to concentrate better on the core classes and have better interactions in class. They do have time to interact with girls and they enjoy their playtime together. The teachers and staff are very caring, and the aftercare program is amazing the kids have so much fun (they do HW, too) my son complains when I pick him up early. Since it is a charter school, volunteer hours are mandatory and I do appreciate it because it gives parents the opportunity to be more active with the school and be active in your kids' education. I have ask several parents from different grade levels and I only receive great reviews from boys and girls alike. One of the most important things about this school is that they do not only concentrate on academics but also on building characters on our children. I cannot be more grateful for this school on creating such a great environment for the children to grow and learn.
