Honestly, don't recommend this school. So far have found the teachers do not treat students very well. Super disappointing. Principal seems to be lacking leadership abilities and is quite apathetic. Shame on them for allowing teachers to break Florida Statutes and treat kids badly.

Our son was doing well before we moved and started coming to this school. The teachers do not respond to us. They changed and drastically reduced our sons IEP times preaching more time in gen ed will do him good at this point and he is now failing and we have been trying to have an in person IEP meeting but keep getting told it isn't necessary and to just tell the ESE teacher our concerns and she will relay them to the team we never hear back from. Another child told our son he was going to slit his throat and we had several more incidents with the same student. When we went to the school to have our son file a report for bullying the school gave us a hope scholarship right off the bat like that would fix the problem. Then when our son filled out the paperwork it never went anywhere they talked to the student and that was it. No formal investigation took place like it was supposed to because we filled the paperwork stating it was happening and we were filing a formal complaint with the school. We were never sent a letter by mail notifying us of an investigation so it was just a talking to. Our son is still to this day having issues with getting picked on.

Engaged teachers and wonderful community. I don’t understand the low scores. My daughter attended kindergarten thru 6 and every teacher was great, some even amazing!

I liked that the same great teachers my son had were still there teaching when my daughter attended. My children are seven years apart, I had one graduating 6th and then one starting kindergarten. My daughter did so well that she got into Westshore jr/sr high. She is taking high school classes in middle school and doing well thanks to the foundations she learned at Andersen elementary school.

My son was having issues with a child in his class. I went to the teacher and she went directly to the Principal. The situation was solved immediately. Our concern was not only for our child, but for the bully as well. Andersen does a wonderful job. Mrs. Lamm and Mrs. Harris are amazing!

Seems Miss. Jones (vp) does the work of the principal and vp. Miss Jones has a good heart BUT it's NEVER the teacher's fault..NO MATTER WHAT!! Mrs. Johnson needs to retire. I seriously do not know what her role is at the school. A few of the office staff are absolutely amazing.

IEP is wonderful. They do a lot to help the child succeed. However, I do not believe a room full of kids at the same time is beneficial. The children deserve one on one occasionally.

They do to a point but as I stated before, they believe all the children in the school should like each other and get along. If your child is bullied and fights back, your child will be the one in trouble. I also do not feel it's entirely up to the school to defeat bullying. Parent's need to start taking responsibility for their children's actions.

Depends on the teacher. One second grade teacher = 6 hours of homework EVERY night, other second grade teachers = 30 minutes to an hour.

Most are. Every school has their fair share of problems, but here, the bad teachers are seriously bad. There is one teacher in specific that needs to retire immediately. I am quite surprised she remembers her own name and sadly, she teaches Kindergarten.

This school believes that every student should like and get along with every student. They do not take kindly to students who do not conform to their agenda.

This school isn't terrible. It is definitely lacking in leadership. One thing I would like to point out though. From the 1st day of school, the children are not being educated per say, they are being taught to pass tests which is shameful.

Anderson has an excellent teacher base and administration. They really seem to care for the well-being of my child.

This is our first year at Andersen and we have been nothing but pleased. The principal, Mrs. Johnson, is absolutely amazing. She goes above and beyond for every student. There are also amazing teachers! Have read some reviews on other elementary schools only allowing recess 3x a week! I am happy to say that my child gets it twice daily!! So happy I made the chose to go to this school!

I have one child at Andersen and my second will be starting there next Fall. I have nothing but great things to say about this school! The teachers all really care about my child and her education. They are organized and consistent with the children. Not only are they excellent at trying to make sure the children understand the curriculum, they also strive to make sure they have fun while the learn information on art and music. All of the staff members are friendly and attentive. In my opinion, there is not a better elementary school around!

My children have been attending Anderson for three years now, the school overall is OK, the lessons are over whelming for some. The problem/issues I have are with parents who have a mind to get out of their car at 1:30 pm to ask another parent to move forward so other cars can park. Listen I leave my home by a certain time, if a car is parked on the side, I would like to gibe that person the courtsey to be able to back out. There is no parking system in place before 2:45. If your child is a car rider, a line forms around 1:30 or an hour before school is let out. We are adults. We are all going to the same place. Just sit back and wait for the gate to open don't worry about the driver in front of you!

Our family has enjoyed going to Andersen since kindergarten with Ms Taylor! The principal, Mrs Johnson, made a wonderful impression the first day by giving us a tour of the school and taking us to the boys' classroom. She is very active in every activity throughout the school We are glad they have a music program, accelerated learning classes for our boys and a thriving PTO!

My son, now in 6th grade is very happy at Andersen. Mr Albright, his teacher is an excellent teacher. Mrs Enos and Mrs Downey are excellent also. Too bad the principle is not excellent. She does not answer her emails

Hans Christian Andersen Elementary is a wonderful school with challenging academic programs and excellent teachers. Andersen Elementary is a cut above the private educational schools in Brevard County. I'm very impressed with the quality of education this school provides its students.

Both my children attend this school, grades 6 and 4th. We have had an overall wonderful experience here, probably the best school they have ever attended. We have moved around a lot so I have some experience, even with other so called "A" schools. Andersen tops them all, and the principle is wonderful. She is very caring and involved in all aspects of her school. What struck me most is that she encourages her kids to think about their future and the importance of doing well now so they can go to a good college in the future. No school is perfect, but this one I really can't complain about overall.
