The High School is ok at best. Teacher turnover is bad. Administration is very bad. High School Principal and Dean are very bad. No direct in person meeting with parents. Phone call returned days later but not by them. They prefer to hide behind their keyboards. The Athletic Program is bad. Football Program is never fully promoted by the Administration. People of color are treated with little respect by Administration. USA Charter Schools need to replace this School Administration ASAP!

My children are very unmotivated from this school. In general, teachers are not very kind to students and when parents want to communicate with them they almost never answer. Especially middle school teachers. I was very disappointed in the treatment of this school with students and parents. In addition to teachers not staying in their positions, this year my daughter had more than 4 math and art teachers. I do not recommend it at all!

Ive been so happy with the high school experience here for my son. The small class environment has provided individualized learning, pushing him ahead if its a subject hes familiar with. I love that hes constantly challenged and not bored. The high school staff has been amazing, theyre so encouraging and teach outside of the box. I highly recommend this school!

I highly reccomend this school. My daughter is going into her 3rd year of high school. She is doing very well. The school has recieved a grade A for the elementary side and it was only 3 points away from an A finishing the year with a high B on the high school side. They had a 100 percent graduation rate this year! After many years of trouble with our public school system we have finally had our prayers answered!

Great school. It has that prep school feel but the teachers are down to earth and the students get along well. No bullying issues.

My child is in her 3rd year at this school and all of a sudden hates it! She comes home every day telling me how some of the teachers gossip about other teachers in front of the students and she feels intimidated by one teacher in particular. She does not feel comfortable going to her and asking for help because the teacher told the class "ask your friends first and then, if you don't get help, you can ask me." Really??!! I thought teachers were supposed to be ready to help? My daughter was also accused by a teacher for something she did not do and I heard that another teacher didn't really care that my daughters friend had a legitimate doctor's note, in hand, and scoffed at the child. My other child just started this year and is having the same problem with another teacher. What is wrong with the teachers here? Our children are not liking this school!!!!

They complained too much. Fist they tell us not to complain because we have nothing to complain about but yet they constantly nag and wine about how they don't have time with their kids and family because they have to grade papers like they were forced into the job. Because of this they never grade papers and get mad when our grades are low and parents are calling upset.

Teachers never communicated between each other so for every class you would have a 500 page essay due the next day.

This school is demeaning! They will write you up and not even let you tell your side if the story. They say " it doesn't matter what you say or what or what you think". They LITERALLY say that to your kids! Hoe are your kids suppose to feel!? They are going to be outraged but they can't say anything back because then they will get expelled for " cursing at administration" when your child didn't even curse! Yea they will make up stuff and punish your kids for it!

My daughter attended private schools from K-8th grade, and while she did well academically, she was never especially happy going to school. We switched her to DCHS in the 9th grade, and the change has been wonderful. She is excited to go to school, and allways has something positive to talk about when she gets home. She is taking AP courses, and absolutely loves the school and her teachers. She has made lots of friends, and has really blossomed at DCHS.

Our son has been at this school since 8th grade and we love it. The public middle school he previously attended had all but sucked the love of learning out of him, even though he was labeled as "academically talented". It's been complete turnaround at Duval Charter. He is attending the rigorous Cambridge Program and doing great. We are so glad to have found this school.

As a former student, I am very disappointed in the teachers, and the rules. The rules are ALWAYS being broken, some of the teacher have a favorite someone "a class pet". And they never get in trouble. Then there are some teachers that cuss, alow kissing to happen and outragess behaver including sexual commets and fighting. If you ask a teacher to stop someone to stop doing something they won't do anything, there lunches are microwaved and discussing, the only reasons I give it a three is that the school is pretty big and holds lots of grades so you don't have to change schools, the uniforms are "ok" and not too geeky, and the eletvives are great and cool.

As a parent this school is fabulous! My daughter attended a private Christian school for 9 years before coming to this school. She was failing the last 2 years at her old school because she said the teachers didn't care and learning was not fun. Different story at DCHS!! She is now a straight "A" student taking honors and AP courses. She has a lot of friends from all kinds of backgrounds and says this school is by far the BEST!!' This school looks for a lot of parent volunteers which is good...it means we care about our kids lives. For all those that complain about low staff...why don't you volunteer your time or are you looking for a free ride? You have to give to get.

The school building itself is not that bad, however, the staff and teachers lack real motivation. The school is not very safe, a man brought a knife to school last year and this year someone walked right into the school without ever being questioned. Also, the children sit in the stairways and makeout and do god only knows what else. That comes straight from my 9th grade daughter. If we could pull them out, we would. It feels very much like a public school with uncaring teachers.

this is a GREAT school with GREAT teachers and Principle! they have parents who are involved with their children and the school. I feel blessed having both my boys here at DCBS.

Duval Charter has an intense dedication to each student's success. As of 2013-14 school year, it only goes up to grade 11. It won't have a senior class until 2014-15.
