I find it odd that Google turned off the reviews for this school. Something I should’ve checked.

Today was my child’s first day at this school and the days leading up we did not receive any form of communication on drop off pick up times. What to expect to picking up your child weather or not we’re allowed to walk our child to homeroom.. nothing zero we I arrive at the school at 7:10 the guy I spoke with seemed clueless about times and schedules.. they put “Research “ on my child’s schedule meaning it’s still up in the air about what the class will be.. so I’m unsure of what 3 of his classes are. And they don’t allow you on property until 7:50 this includes the school parking lot .. which is insane fore parents that are trying to avoid the morning school traffic. Oh and for pickup they don’t allow you on the property until 3:15 and mind you I just found all this out because I finally received an email today at 5pm which is after school. That email should have came out days before school not after school.

So far the communication is horrible and not being allowed in the parking until 10 minutes before pick up and drop off is a huge inconvenience. I’m already inconveniences myself by driving out here to this school that doesn’t seem worth the drive. Don’t get me started on the location…

We are in our 5th year at this school and couldn’t be happier with our choice. We were concerned after our first year because the director, at that time, didn’t seem to have a passion for the work. The current director, who has been there for 4 years now, is fantastic and all about the kids. As with any school, there are always pros and cons but the growth in our child has been tremendous, not only a academically but socially and self-confidence wise too. I have been highly involved with the CPA (think PTA but strictly parents) each year and it is a struggle to get parents involved but I believe that’s the case with most schools these days. We have had one incidence of bullying, however, as soon as I found out about it, I contacted the parent directly of the child that was bullying my child and nipped it in the bud immediately. Again, there will be incidents at every school, it comes down to being involved, knowing the administrators, teachers, support staff and parents of your child’s friends and working together to make it the safest environment for learning that you can.

My experience was awful. I was terminated as a result of the actions of others, not my own. As a blk tchr I thought that I could and should have been able to relay incidents of discriminatory acts that I experienced to the owner, who is a blk man. He was absolutely no help after I reported several incidents of intolerance and how to address them. Instead of transferring me to another campus or dealing with the problem, he had a document drafted stating that I'll face legal action if I contact anyone concerning the events at KCC! Thankfully, the reorient prepared me for my next job position, where I make every effort for ALL to feel welcome and respected.

For 2 and a half years, my best friend (the owner's brother) told me how wonderful this school was. But when i first started, I was pretty much ostracized. I loved working at KCC once I focused on people like myself, who love teaching and love students. Unfortunately, I was terminated, received a Cease and Desist letter, and I won't be able to get a letter of reference for another job. I have no idea why.!?!? Worst of all, my termination occurred right after I told my students that I won't leave them... but I had to just before exhibition and FSA testing!

Leadership simply doesn't get involved at all. The vast majority of the students are very wel behaved. But the small few that aren't are EXTREMELY out of control! And the apple doesn't fall far from the tree... their parents are just as psycho. I have no idea why admin allows them to stay when there's a waiting list.

The gifted students need to be pulled more frequently OR have an action plan in place for the homeroom teacher to move their data. I had 6 extraordinarily gifted students in Language Arts, but they were never tested as requested.

According to the students that I spoke with on my last day there, there's ongoing face-to-face and cyber bullying. However, the teachers who knew about it never reported what was going on. So I told the students that I'll report their concerns to the front office. And I did. One young man and 4 girls were reported in detail with evidence of their incidents of bullying harshly, excessively, and non stop since the beginning of the school year. Other students were simply acting as followers.

The school has had soooo many turnovers this year is NUTS, at least 15 staff members alone have left this year. Grades are given out not earned and no help is given to kids that are struggling. I have no idea how they say they teach a year up when the kids are failing the FSA. Many teachers that I have talked to are soooo happy they left or can't wait to leave this upcoming school year.

They have a lot of groups that focus on volunteering and doing things for other people. They are good about focusing on the whole child and not just the books.

The teachers and campus director here are amazing. My daughter was in our regular school last year but she struggled the whole time and it was tough for us. We moved her to KCC and it has been a great year for my daughter. She is learning so much and doing so well here. I would highly recommend this school!

We couldn't get away fast enough.

We were one of the original families at KCC SE and spent 3 years there, leaving after the 2014-15 school year and we couldn't get away fast enough.

If you're into nepotism, this is the school for you. The children of certain employees and volunteers get chosen for everything -- while many other capable and qualified children get left in the dust. Cougars Care, NEHS, Safety Patrol, you name it-- only the teacher / admin favorites get chosen.

The before / aftercare is overpriced and offers little value other than a babysitting service.

There is a bullying problem that goes largely ignored.

They do not follow EP's, 504's or IEP's and they are not qualified to write them in the first place. Their plans are reactive and do noting to mitigate or solve problems.

In regards to the above: DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL IF THEY ARE GIFTED OR HAVE A DISABILITY THAT REQUIRES AN EP, IEP OR 504. (I can't stress this enough -- my children and many of their friends have been offered a gross disservice by this school.)

Also, if you think your child is gifted, forget about getting them tested through this school. They'll promise to do it forever and will never get around to it -- but even if they do, they'll ignore the EP so I guess it doesn't matter either way.

The school gives the CPA a huge fundraising goal and does NOTHING to support them in getting involvement for their fundraisers.

Overall, it's just a really bad place unless you're in the "in crowd". My children have just completed a year at a charter in Tampa and they are thriving academically, emotionally and socially.

Many of their friends will not be returning next year -- in fact, I hear that there are staff families that are not returning and in my opinion, actions speak volumes.

I really wanted my daughter to go to an IB school. This school is everything I hoped for and more. I am amazed by how much my daughter is learning and I am so pleased with the teachers and administrators. It really feels like family here.

I can seriously tell the difference between public and charter schools. My son is now in the 9th grade in a public high school and the teachers have excuses for everything and on top of that, he got jumped by a kid in class and when he defended himself, he got in trouble. Thank you to the entire KCC family for equipping my son for educational success! Are you a perfect school? No school is, but you are one of the schools who really care about its students! KCC High Charter School????

I think is a great school overall, but need to encourage the parents to volunteer more and more often. Parents are not putting the volunteer time required with the school commitment. Also needs a future program for student above average within their classroom and grade where the teacher can recommend so that the student will not get distracted and can stay focus exceeding possible some next grade level assignments. One thing I can't understand why can the kids celebrate Christmas and other holiday when all other school are able to , by just keeping a respect for anyone that don't celebrate for a reason or another which is understandable but why penalize the majority and the beauty of the holidays. Kids don't understand and they are little and should be able to enjoy the innocence of their believes. I recommend looking into it keeping the respect for everyone but not limiting all.

I've seen so many positive areas of growth in my daughter from both the educational and personal perspectives. Making top grades has been fairly easy for her since starting with the KCC VPK program but she now is being challenged to achieve those top scores by the IB and 3rd grade expectations and that's where I see the growth in her character and her study skills. I must add, this transition has helped me grow as a parent too. I've had to brush away the cobwebs from my brain when I review her homework with her and she asks me what's the square root of...? Yikes! (I don't remember doing Algebra or Geometry until I was in H.S. - where's my chamomile tea?!) Thanks for all you do for us KCC SE. We appreciate you so much.

I've been with KCC SE for several years now, and I still love working here. We are slowly growing and now serve K-4 as well as VKP. I love that the students and their families are as passionate about our school as the teachers and staff members are. It feels like a family; one that welcomes new students. As a professor, I benefit from the professional development that KCC SE provides, including IB PYP trainings. This enables me to confidently teach our students all they need to know/understand, go beyond the Florida Standards, and guide them to become problem solvers and responsible citizens.

We have been with KCC for several years and pleased to continue our educational journey with the Southeast school. Before attending Kids Community College my son attended another public school in Riverview and it's an extremely active child and needed a place not only to excel in sports but also his education. He also needed a place where they would not judge him because of past experience or because his brother had trouble performing above average. This school provide a safe heaven where the kids can be themselves, they don't have to worry about how they dress, fit in, sound, walk, or talk. They are thought how to respect themsleves and each other. KidsCC provides a foundation that get their children ready for the real world. I was also worried about where I would send my oldest for Middle School because he does not fit in with what we call the "Cool Crowd" My son is the happiest I have ever seen him. He's performing way above average where before it was way below average; can you say "High Honor Roll!" KidsCC is making a huge difference in our community and our kids future. The staff welcomes you with a smile always. They are extremely supportive and kind....Love them!!!!

Kids Community College is a great school and I have been working with them for a number of yerars. I have seen many children come and go and they have benefited from the staff, and the other children of their peers. The staff cares about each of the children and go above and beyond to help them in any way possilbe.

I have 2 children at KCC Southeast that both just finished Kindergarten. Our school experiences so far aren't as vast as some, however, from the schools that we have experienced and the experience we have received at KCC, I can not say enough great things. My children have had a very pleasant experience and are happy every day that they go to school. They have performed phenomenaly and are looking forward to further education at the Southeast Campus of KCC. My wife and I have recommended this school to several other families that are looking for a source for better education and we will continue to recommend this fine school!! GO COUGARS!!

My child attends KCC SE. This school is awesome! In one school year they have accomplished some of the most amazing results I could have ever hoped for. They won my confidence as a school that teaches my child on a higher academic level, creates opportunity for learning about & interacting with community beyond the school doors. My child exhibits math, reading, science, social studies and writing skills far above other schools both private and public at her grade level. I'm so pleased but the thing that I truly feel blessed to be a part of this school is when I see my child interact with other children and adults with respect and consideration. I teach her these traits at home, but I know that a school has the ability to either reinforce or break down the things a child is taught at home. KCC SE just received their acceptance in the IB authorization process to be an IB Candidate school starting Sept. 2013. The construction of the new campus is moving extremely well to be open for the 2013-2014 school term. Wow! As a parent, I'm amazed how much this small school has accomplished without ever pressuring me to fundraise or give. They just get it done for us. I love KCC SE.

As a professor (teacher) of the school, I am surprised at the misinformation regarding serving students with exceptionalities. Our school is well known for the individual attention given to EVERY student based on their learning modality and specific needs. I gladly spend additional hours each week ensuring my lessons plans reach the individual child and I know my peers do as well. We gladly do it. It's who we are and it's the culture of our company and our school. We are very approachable and I don't understand why any parent wouldn't let us know directly if they had any concerns. We all work extremely hard to ensure that our students are well served and that the parents are included as part of the educational process. Misleading comments like these don't deter me, they make me more determined to make sure that we truthfully and faithfully served EVERY CHILD to the best of our ability.

Kid's Community College Southeast opened in August 2012 and became part of a dynamic family of schools in Florida. We pride ourselves on providing a nurturing school environment and a rigorous inquiry-based academic program. We have been approved as an official IB Candidate School for the 2013-2014 school year and will have a wide variety of IB resources available to us. Our parents play a big role in the success of our school and journey toward IB authorization through volunteerism, donations, and fundraising efforts. We have an open door policy and encourage frequent communication between home and school through several mediums and a minimum of one parent-professor conference per quarter. We provide a number of extended services based on student academic needs. Furthermore, our special needs students are served according to their individual education plans and are supported by KCC staff members. Additional support is provided through the Hillsborough School District. The thorough process of identifying special needs students is done in accordance with state and federal law, as well as Hillsborough School District policies.

I couldn't disagree more with the parent below regarding services provided to children with special needs. I, too, have a special needs student that attends this school and feel they go above and beyond to ensure the needs of my child and my family are met. Most parents who must contend with the ESE process understand that its very seldom that the delay in the approval process is likely a condition of the School District process, not that of the school. The school is at the mercy of the School District resources, which I've found is always the delay. However, even before we received that approval, accommodations were already being made for my child by KCC. As for fees and fundraisers, we didn't find either to be unreasonable. We all have to purchase supplies off of the supply list and last I checked, most schools have fundraisers. At this school, you see where those funds are spent and it's all for the benefit of the children. WE LOVE IT HERE and wouldn't want to be any where else. Small campus, small classes, premium learning!

I also feel the negative remark below is unfair and honestly makes me angry. The school does quite well on a modest budget. This is the ONLY charter school that I know of anywhere in this state that has attempted to become an IB PYP school. The IB program is very expensive to offer and parents ilke me are more than happy to help support the school through fundraising efforts. I am not wealthy by any means, but I do my part to make it a success. District schools regularly ask for money or donations and they receive MORE money per student. As far as special services are concerned, the school follows district procedures and is at the mercy of the district when scheduling meetings.

Kids with any kind of special needs please beware. This school is a hard hitter on fundraising and required fees. If you look at the other reviews coincidentally they all came in around the same time. I had numerous communication issues with this school on top of them requiring financial contributions that are out of most families budgets. My child had paperwork in place for enrichment services and it took 10 weeks before it was implemented and only at my urging and going further to speak with someone. I was not kept informed of my child's academic progress and would only get the grades at report card times. We liked the teacher and the Ib Coordinator but I will say the school as a whole has a lot of kinks they need to work out.

We are so pleased to have an International Baccalaureate modeled school in our area. The teachers here are deeply involved with each child and really seem to care for each one. The children are treated as individuals and are expected to do their very best at learning. The standards are very high and the children are meeting them since most are doing work well beyond grade level. I am especially impressed with the leadership. The principal is constantly interacting with the teachers and children and everyday seems like a joy to her. The IB coordinator is extremely knowledgable about the program and its goals and requirements. With the opening of the new school building on Balm Riverview Road in the fall of 2013, the school will probably have long waiting lists since it offers very high quality and very high standards. Parental involvement is required and appreciated. There are many extra events that parents help with such as International Festival, Book Fairs, Cougar Care Club, Soccer and Family Fun Days. It is a pleasure to stop by the KCC Southeast campus. You sense the positive atmosphere throughout the entire school.

My family takes a lot of pride in being a part of the KCC SE family! The staff is wonderful and truly teaches to the child. There are so many opportunities to get involved, for the students and the families. I like that parents are required to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per year. I think it is important for parents to know their child's teacher, as well as the other adults their child/ren are spending so much time with each day. The staff is very welcoming and always accessible. They have even started welcoming my son already and he won't start kindergarten until the next school year! They know us by name and truly seem to care. I also appreciate that the children learn a global awareness, as well as investing in the community around them. We look forward to participating at KCC SE as it continues to grow! I highly recommend this school.

I'm very excited to have my son enrolled in KCC SE!!!. My wife and I were looking for a school were our kid could go beyond the standard education and develop himself as a integral human being. I knew about KCC SE because our friends had their children in KCC family for many years and I saw their advance in many academic areas and their character is definitely different from the kids enrolled in other schools. I'm very happy about the progress of my little one and knowing that he's in the IB program is a peace of mind ingredient for our lives. The staff is awesome, professionals in their fields of practice and very kind people. I truly recommend KCC SE for parents looking for a school with high performance and educational excellence.

I am proud to say that I am a teacher at KCC-SE. The parents, staff, and students make this a great place to work. I come to work every morning with a smile on my face that lasts all day. The staff is always up for new challenges and ways to help all students excel. We have students from varying backgrounds and social status which allows them to gain knowledge from their similarites and differences. My son is in Kindergarten at KCC-SE. I was worried about where I would send him to school because he had been reading since he was 3 years old, and I didn't want him simply repeating everything that he had already learned. His teacher has been wonderful. She kept doing assessments on him until she found where he was academically and she gives him work that will challenge him. She is always available to speak with before school and via email. The school even has an enrichment program. So, he gets pulled out of class a couple of times per week for enrichment. Did I mention that he LOVES the technology program!?! And I love that he has a Spanish teacher who comes into the class every week - in Kindergarten! This school has so much to offer. It has been a great choice for my son.

What a great offering for HIllsborough County! It's wonderful to have an IB modeled PYP offering in mid-county. I believe the IB philosophy fits well with the individual education and learning modalities that is the crux of KCC. I know this school will have the high performance and educational standards of it's KCC counterparts. This has been an awesome 1st year and the addition of Ms. Caballero as the Campus Director has been a blessing. Great school, individual attention, small classes and overall campus size. This is just what was needed!
