Moved from maryland my child attends thus school. Currently looking into another school. My child went through the whole school year unable to see. The teacher said she wasnt grasping concepts blaming on the move from another state. In Maryland my child was honor roll....here not at all. The teacher played it like my child is dumb. I took her to her pediatrician and actually discovered she needed glasses. The teacher failed my child when all in reality she just couldn't see. Since getting glasses she is fine but the teacher still failed her. The principal doesnt respond to emails. When you call no one returns your call. Im actually reporting the school to the board of education. They ask for money every week with a new fundraiser. I bought 3 boxes of chocolate...I only received 2 and no I didn't get my money back for the 3rd one not received. After care is a joke the teachers are just on their phone my child constantly got picked to the point she would be crying and I had to tell her at this point handle your own if the teacher wont. She stop going to aftercare. Pick up line is terrible they pick and choose who they want to let through the gate early makes it seem very racial. I would not recommend this school and it sucks because the school has all grades but it sucks!

I wish I had taken the negative reviews more seriously before enrolling my children here. I assumed that because the schools rating looked good, the experience would match. Unfortunately, that was not the case. From my experience, students often feel like just another number rather than individuals. Communication is inconsistent, organization is lacking, and there seems to be constant turnover among teachers and staff. Whenever someone comes along who appears genuinely invested in improving the environment, they rarely seem to stay for long. The atmosphere can feel unnecessarily negative at times, and concerns are not always handled professionally or constructively. While there are certainly some caring teachers and staff members, the overall culture and leadership leave a lot to be desired. If youre researching schools for your child, I would encourage you to look beyond ratings, marketing materials, and first impressions. When you visit, dont be distracted by cosmetic upgrades, attractive facilities, or expensive appearance focused improvements. Instead, pay attention to how the school actually functions. Watch how staff interact with students, observe whether things appear organized and well managed, and ask questions about communication, teacher retention, and student support. A polished appearance can hide a surprising amount of chaos and disorganization behind the scenes. Read reviews carefully, ask current families about their experiences, and trust what you observe. A schools public rating doesnt always reflect what day to day life is actually like for students and families.

Based on my experience, I would not choose this school again.

My child went here for two years. Carline was horrendous--morning or afternoon, didn't matter. They started locking you out at about 3:50p each day for 10-15 mins. If you were a paying parent of aftercare you had to wait for all of the late parents (not paying) to pick up their children. They finally decided to create two waiting lines at the door so that this process became slightly smoother, but no one read their signs. Youd think they could have come up with something a lot better, considering they decided to bring in even more families with pre-k this coming year. The front staff was always rude over the phone and forget about getting quick or helpful responses over emails (or any other way for that matter). Yegnia was the most unprofessional staff member we encountered. The school 'nurse' was an absolute joke. I mean that wholeheartedly. The teachers all looked and sounded miserable and exhausted unless it was about to be a holiday or long weekend. MORNING CARE- They would leave the morning care door wide open for literally anyone to enter the building. This door was not monitored, only the room. My child was vulnerable to any stranger or predator every morning until midway through the year when they started using a locked door and doorbell. THIS TOOK TOO LONG TO HAPPEN. Just listening to how they speak to students waiting to be picked up was nauseating. I can't imagine how they're spoken to throughout the day when parents are standing there. They are already way overcrowded and constantly begging for donations and money...why on earth would they add MORE students? (pre-k). That blew my mind. They cant even figure out how to make the current traffic/carline work without that addition. No one really comes to their events because they are put together without any heart and the staff is always so unwelcoming in normal interactions...why would be want to spend more time there?? This school needs a real overhaul. There is no HEART. Lastly, the uniform shirts are made with extremely uncomfortable fabric. My child hated wearing them so much and complained of how itchy there were- especially during summer. The fact that we must buy their logo $35-50 coats is ridiculous considering they somehow never make it to lost-&-found if misplaced (saved for uniform resale instead?). We spent so much money on their itchy logo clothing. I removed my child and have every bit of confidence that she will be far happier at her new school. Do better DCSB.

We have had four children attend Duval Charter at Baymeadows, and one has already graduated and is now in college. Our experience has been very positive. The teachers and staff care about the students and work to create a structured and supportive environment. Communication with parents has been consistent, and the school encourages strong family involvement. We appreciate the community the school has built and the role it has played in helping prepare our children for the next stage of their education.

DCSB is a wonderful school where the teachers genuinely care about your children, both in and out of the classroom. They go to great lengths to make sure that your child succeeds while still having fun and allowing creativity. They meet every child where they are. This is my daughter's first year at Duval Charter School at Baymeadows, and the change has been life-changing for her. She transitioned here for 8th grade after struggling at a private Catholic school where she was a C/D student.

Since starting here, she has completely turned her academics around and is now on the A/B Honor Roll! The environment and teaching style seem to be exactly what she needed to build confidence and excel. We are so proud of her progress and grateful for the support this school provides.

We entrusted our childrens education at DCSB. The school is diverse and have a great curriculum and clubs. One of our child already graduated here had honors and doing great at college. One is on his 6th grade, he is on honor roll and really doing a great job. Teachers have compassion and commitment to their profession. Safety is great, administration is always open for discussions, opinions and suggestions.

This is my daughters fourth year at DCSB and my sons second. Over time, the school has truly come to feel like family, offering many opportunities for parent involvement through volunteering and fundraising. The teachers are outstanding and genuinely supportive when families take an active role in their childs education, and the administration is welcoming, responsive, and efficient in addressing concerns. The culture at this school is elite and I am so proud my children get to continue to learch at DCSB for more years to come!

We love DCBS! As a mother of an elementary child and a high schooler I love how the school meets both my childeren were they are at academically while also challenging them to improve. I was concerned my high schooler would be affected by "covid learning loss" and school transfers leaving him ill-prepared for college but he has regained and excelled more in this environment then I have ever seen.

Don't send your Kids to this school. If they don't speak English this school will make them feel like they don't know anything. The hallways always smell horrible, some of these teachers legitimetly don't care about us. The lunch is horrible. And the kids are so rude both to eachother and to the staff.

Duval Charter Baymeadows is the worst school EVER!!!!!!! It is one of the worst mistakes we have made for our children yet. The staff, Deans, Principals, and Vice Principal are bullies. They all lack communication through emails as well as calls. They are like the children always in the children business acting just like children and when they don't get their way they will gang up on you with their bulling tactics. They want the children to follow the rules of the school but they do not. They will set your children up for failure even after having multiple parent teacher conferences to try and fix things. They will go against your child as soon as you stand up for them and advocate for you child / children. THIS IS THE WORST SCHOOL EVER DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!!!!!! The Admin will gang up on them and make you think it is your student making smart remarks to the children about their parents. WHO LET THESE MONKEYS RUN THIS SCHOOL!!!!!!! This school is alright, i currently go here. while there are some cons, there are some pros such as the decent student life some of the teachers are pretty interactive and engaging with students and overall there seems to be teachers who do want to teach, the only issue is that the students themselves dont want to actually learn and all they'll do is interrupt others and the teacher making it hard for others to learn. Ive been here for 3yrs now and graduate next year. The Dual enrollment courses are neat the SLS teacher is amazing and very understanding of the students, same with the current AICE General Paper teacher.

This has been a really bad experience for my family. They have a system that they know is not working. The kids cant stand up during lunch time, they have to wait until its time to go back to classroom sitting straight, High schoolers . Administration is not good with the teachers, there is not retention of them and they cry constantly. My daughter was suspended because her pants had a pocket on the back. My son lunch detention for going to the bathroom during class change. Constantly screaming at the students. I thought that it was a good school but now I know why the reviews arent good.

This school is one of the best schools I have seen, not counting private schools. Most of the staff is wonderful and saftey drills are practiced monthly. The school has great counselors and extra time is provided for the students that have it. Students are also pushed and encouraged to do their best, and the advanced courses are absolutely amazing for the higher up students. There is lots of diversity, the only issue I have seen here is bullying, even then, it is to a minimal amount. As far as I know, the Girls bathroom is kept clean and they supply girls with female supplies. Great school, I absolutely love it.

This charter school added 400 new students and 40 new teachers this year. Within the first 9 weeks they sent a letter home requesting anyone with a bachelor's degree to submit a resume. In the first 3 weeks 10 parents were trespassed from campus due to verbal attacks on car line and front office staff. A particular grade had no books nor ipads for the first 9 weeks. Fights break out at games between not only students but their parents as well. It is impossible to speak to teachers. Email correspondence only until you push hard and get a zoom meeting scheduled during parent pick up line. Parent pick up line requires 4 police officers. Teachers are aggressive, impatient and rude. They are under presuure due to hysterical parents and the teacher's own time line. Expect 45 minute waits. The elementary "dean" is a underqualified and defensive with a lack of communication skills. She hung up in me after my child was racially slurred and physically assaulted during outside recreation. Theft is rampant and unchecked by staff. Vape pens are everywhere according to kids talk but I personally have seen one transported by ambulance and told another was expelled according to staff. They are the THC pens. The bathrooms are covered in urine and paper wads thrown at walls. This place is an over glorified tech prison for students.

I have a son who currently attends DCSB and is in the 3rd grade. He has been there since Kindergarten. His experience has been incredible. His teachers go above and beyond everyday! He has made tremendous academic gains and the classroom environment is supportive, caring and fun. He loves his resource classes - PE, science, technology, computers, typing and art. He enjoys having recess everyday. He recently joined a book club and looks forward to attending every Thursday. We are extremely pleased with this school and highly recommend it!

This school deserves a 1/10. As a parent, I strongly advise you to find another school for your child. The teachers at this school are decent, however, they make no progress with students due to the administration. Admin is straight up rude and they do not care for your children whatsoever. Many have told my family and I our childs education means nothing to them and its not their job to babysit. Dont let your child go here.

The principal at the high school Kimberly Stidham was very rude to me. I had a new student who was never added to my name when she moved to this school in the middle of the year. I was unable to check grades and see messages from teachers due to the administration not following proper procedure and syncing her to my account from the beginning. The principal claimed this had nothing to do with her, yet she is the boss. She took no responsibility and was extremely rude to me, maybe because I'm Latina. When I tried to drop my child off for a tutoring session we ran into traffic and were 5 minutes late. The principal would not allow my child to attend tutoring and wasted more of our time arguing about why she didnt want to let her in to tutoring. The drop off window for tutoring is only 10 minutes, you can drop off at 715am and they have to be in the classroom by 725am. So if anything happens on the road you cant count on them to be understanding and let your child get educated, which is supposed to be their duty. When I gave her a hypothetical about a student being a minute late, she said they would still deny them access to education. At this point my child was very upset and was sobbing uncontrollably due to the frustration she felt from not being able to go in and do her work. I was unable to let her go into the school until she calmed down. I wish I could them 0 stars based on this situation.

This school gets worse every year, I wish I could take my kid out, but he has bonded with so many kids ( im still thinking about it)teachers STOP SCREAMING at the kids, this is not acceptable, " I cat stand you guys" is not ACCEPTABLE, " I don't care" is not acceptable, After care people, where is the care part, Mr Tate and Miss Latoya screaming at the kids , being rude and showing you have no care for our kids, is not acceptable. We pay a lot of money for after CARE, let them be kids within limits, because you're having a bad day or don't feel good DO NOT take it out on the little ones, STAY HOME. This school only wants money from parents, not educational support for the students. The classroom environment is chaos and administration will not intervene to help students when teachers are failing in their duties. I regret the day we enrolled in this school. I have heard Mr Tate at aftercare screaming at students more than once in the parking lot. Do not subject your child to this horrible institution. Public school is actually better than this grade school.

We've been at this school for five years. We knew the first principal, we know the current principal. There have been some issues, yes (and they were handled with privacy and respect), but a school isn't a set, rigid environment. It's fluid, and dynamic, and changes with the student base, the parents, the laws, and the teachers. You can't compare what it was like when it opened to how it is now. DCSB was recently awarded a Florida "School of Excellence" award. We are thriving academically despite what any naysayers purport in other reviews. Our school-wide results don't lie. I witness the educators there going above and beyond for their classrooms and students. You will find bad teachers and teacher turnover at every school, but I believe the ones that have stayed year after year after year (and there are more who stay than who leave) truly show the heart and spirt of the community they have built at DCSB. It is a great school, with quality people (who do actually care about education) running it. I'm happy to send my three children there. They will partner WITH you for your child's education and growth.

We have been extremely pleased with the school! It was recently named one of Duval Counties "Schools of Excellence". The teachers and staff here are compassionate and hard working. They truly care about the student's success behaviourally, academically and socially. There are many activities aside from school work for the children to enjoy, as well. They have holiday celebrations, book parades, spirit days, field trips, award ceremonies and days when family members can come in and visit with children and teachers and see the children's school work. Highly recommended!

At The bugging when they open up the school it was a fantastic school from administration,teachers and parents. We are so happy we found this Charter school and I am excited that my BFF was able to get her kids enrolled as well. It has a prep school feel but the students and teachers are very down to earth and they will not let your child slip without going above and beyond to make sure they keep their grades up. All sports all available too! We need more football players so please come and sign up!! Thank God for this school!!

This is by far the worst school that have ever sent my child. They tend to keep the parents in the dark about their children's progress or and in certain classes that they need to work on. They make constant mistakes in school scheduled days off or simple activities and won't correct errors until it's too late for parents to make any alternative plans to counteract their neglect to keep parents informed of sudden changes. This school promotes more fundraisers and teacher outings than education. I just wish I would have listened to the parents that I've met a month before I decided to put my children in this school who warned me of this schools incompetence but I was hoping that if I could stay involved and keep in contact with my children's teachers that it would be ok, but I was wrong.

Compared to the Duval County Schools system this school is fantastic. I don't worry about their safety and they are excelling! The free tutoringredients has helped tremendously. Only downfall, no gym or lockers but a sacrifice I'll accept for a better academic process. Also they did send an email about Hand Foot and Mouth. I get emails all the time! Great communication! A+ school in my book! Middle & Grades K-5

Today, October 14, 2016, I learned that my two children were exposed to the hand foot and mouth disease. My son in the 2nd grade had a classmate in the classroom with covered arms and hand, she was also wearing pants. I was volunteering and asked the student if she was feeling ok. She said, "I'm ok I just have the hand foot and mouth disease"! I looked at her a little confused and looked at where her sleeves stopped and her gloves started and I could see sores, red and pink covering her skin. I asked the teacher what was going on and she said that the student did have hand foot and mouth disease also that a Teacher was absent due to the disease. I was outraged because I had no notice on the out break. I pulled my child and sanitized as much as possible. I am so upset that there was not one note, atomatic message, or email about the situation. The school really does not have any care for the safety and well being of students. The school does not seem very clean either, a disease was present and I smelled zero cleaner and saw zero cleaner.

They are transient and too scared of the new principle to be effective. It's totally different than the first 3 years. Students and learning are no longer priority. Staying under the principles radar is. Most of the wonderful teachers have fled under new principle. Students are no longer encouraged.

This charter school is nothing but broken promises! The kids have no playground and play on the parking lot asphalt. All these fundraisers and the amount of money they get per child from Duval county and you can not get a playground but I have seen 5 new charter schools open up within 3 years. This is not a school is strictly a greedy business. Charter USA is here for the wealth not the future of our children. The sports facility here is in a rusty building with no doors and you have to walk in mud to get to it. My kids hate attending this prison so in 2016 I will have to loose money on selling my house and downsize to find a decent education in St. Johns County

No dual enrollment. Lack of transportation options. No gym (annoying fundraising then saying there is no room). High teacher turnover. VERY unorganized clubs and sports. I don't feel as though this school appropriately prepares students for college or the real world. Surprisingly. magnet and public schools have better options.

I admit that when the school first open that a gym was suppose to be in place sooner rather than later. Now to hear that there is no room for a gym, was this not known prior to. There has been some ups and downs with the new principle however when a new person comes in changes are made. Sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse. This is her first year and we do need to give her chance to grow. We do not know how the coming year will be but for me this school is better than what is in my neighborhood. If you have a better option in yours use it. I wish I did so I would not have to travel so far for my kids to go to school. This is a choice school therefore you do not have to attend. Not to say that to be mean; just stating a fact. Do I agree with every change that has been made, no I don't. That comes with the territory. As far as the high turnover rate, teachers also left when Mrs brown was there to and that's not say that I did not like Mrs brown because I did. I am just stating that certain situations has nothing to do with the principle.

They would rather give your child detention, in-school suspension, or out-of-school suspension (which really is their aim - to not have "problem children" in their school) than to provide real accommodations. They call you to tell you when your child with ADHD is in trouble for talking too much or getting out of their seat or anything they are punishing them for, but never call for a good report. They give lunch detention if your kid's shirt isn't all the way tucked. Our head football coach was let go after he's been with these kids for three years NOT OVER CHARACTER. The school has always been a little strict but that has been heightened to the tenth degree under Stidham and the kids get in trouble for almost anything. The school does not provide transportation for sports, there is no gym, dual-enrollment is no longer available, the teacher turnover rate is high so your kids may develop bonds with teachers then lose them quickly, and they have 8 periods but only 7 count for grades. The first few years at this school were wonderful. This year started out rough with a new principal. I think a lot of families were very unhappy. I believe a good school is a combination of both academic and an experience. Some of the programs were cut but with some complaints the principal has brought back choir. I think she realizes the need for more front office parking and is hopefully acting on adding more parking spaces. They are still fundraising for a playground so hopefully the kids will get that very soon, next year? The principal has said there is no room for a gym but I'm also hoping over the years they can make a place for one or move the school to a location that will house all the extras other schools offer. My kids all love their teachers this year and that's a big plus. Over the years I hope they make the changes this school needs in order to make it great for its upcoming high school students.

I agree with the other post about the lack of leadership for the 2014-2015 school year. My child has been at DCSB since 5th grade and we use to Love this school, however THIS year it as all changed. Not sure what my child is learning, teachers are dropping like flies and the new principle is running this school into the ground. Kids can't use certain restrooms, they are being monitored in the restrooms. The kids are not getting the overall school experience and learning environment that use to be present while Ms. Brown was the principle. The overall feeling of school pride and family is gone this year. Kids seem less involved this year. We were so happy when our son got in to DCSB for 5th grade thinking he would be able to stay at the same school for high school and graduate, but we are really re-thinking about him staying for high school since they no longer have the dual enrollment for college and the high school is lacking in so many ways. Charter School USA needs to decide if they want to have a high school and if so they need to get off their butts and make the facilities at DCSB a school. BUILD A GYM, get a place were the school can come together.

Last year my children enjoy going to school, this year not so much. They are asking to go back to public school. They dislike the new principal. Mrs. Brown was very involved with the students as well as their parents. The students have no relationship with the new principal and they never see her at the school. I feel like my children's education is starting to suffer due to the teacher turn over at this school. My middle school student has lost two teachers this year alone and my high school student has lost 4. This is unacceptable and these students need structure and positive praises. Instead they are getting detention every time you turn around. The rules are becoming so strict and the students are feeling defeated. My children are asking me to seek an alternative school for next year. I was very please last year and would love to continue them at DCSB but if things dont change I will not be re-enrolling them again for the next year. We are our children's voice and need to speak up on the issues our children are coming home talking to us about. Please dont think your child is the only child failing to succeed.

I agree with the newer posts. This used to be a great. It's completely different. Both of my children have had great teachers leave after they were acclimated to their teaching styles. The sports provision is minimum. It seems for your children to get that rounded education, you must be a stay at home parent as most sports training is conducted off campus. The friendliness of the staff is mixed. While everyone seemed happy prior to this year it seems oppressive. The pricing for after school care makes this school comparable to private school tuition and is incredibly high at 15.00 day for after school care. we are searching for a different school for our children next year.

I completely agree with the most recent post about how the school has changed and gone down hill. with the first principal, ms. brown who started this school, she was very visible and WANTED parents in the school all the time, earning their volunteer hours. ms. stidham has made it very clear, she wants parents out of the school. she screams at the students and they hate her. when asked, "how can we earn our volunteer hours if we're not allowed in the school to work" and it was relayed to us, "you can buy your volunteer hours" really? wow! how rude!

If I had posted a review of DCSB a year or two ago, I'd have given the school a 5. Unfortunately, the school has taken a turn for the worse since last spring, when the former principal began splitting her time between three jobs instead of focusing on our school. This year, corporate hired an experienced principal whose sole job was DCSB. Things should have gotten better. Instead, things have gotten worse. The new principal seems to dislike or disagree with the mission of the school (which relies on volunteers and encourages parent involvement), and she started the year by alienating volunteers and making parent-teacher communication more difficult. Many teachers have been fired or have left. The school hired a disorganized, rude guidance counselor who left after only three weeks (her departure was a mixed blessing, to say the least!). There was no communication to parents about her departure, parents had no idea how to get guidance services, and there was no guidance counselor in the HS for more than two months. HS students feel babied because they are treated like the elementary kids, parents feel ignored, and teachers are leaving. What more is there to say?

First school since I moved to Jacksonville to acutally make kids learn spelling by doing spelling test and sentences, first school to not discrimate because she is not from Jacksonville, I am very happy, I am not happy about the pick up yet or that parents are not interested in car pooling.

To the person who just complained about duval charter at baymeadows. First of all, didn't you choose to send your children there? You were not forced to have your children attend this school. If you don't like it, leave and let the parents who are on the waiting list have an opportunity to send their children there. You are just part of the problem, and not a very involved parent if you are not offering or providing solutions. This is an EXCELLENT school and like all new schools, is still going through some new school growth and adjustments. The schedules are up and this was not a school issue, but a corporate one. It is not uncommon for teachers to leave schools for one reason or another, but for the most part, duval charter teachers have remained since the school opened. I am very proud to be a part of the duval charter school family along with many other parents and children. I am here to support my school and not degrade it.

Not completely happy with this school. I will never forget them saying they run this school like a business hmmm. I moved both of my children to this school in 2014. I was not given all the information needed for my children to catch up so several times they missed out or were given a lower grade because of it. There were other issues but too many to name. The principal was awesome and followed up with me same day when my daughter was being bullied. But she has left the school. The teachers do not all seem to care .that s how it is in a business I guess here to get my check. One child loved it and the other did not and is transferring. In all honesty they have a way to go in organization and personal skills but I think that the office staff is great!

I'm going to be honest...is this school perfect....No. But I dare you to find me one that is. EVERY school has bad teachers, every school has fights ( even christian schools) every school has it's ups and downs. This school is at least striving for excellence. When my oldest was in our neighborhood school, there were multiple teachers that just came to work to ride out their time until retirement. They colored everyday in 7th grade! At DSCB, Ms. Brown will give those teachers the exit slip pretty quick. In regards to bullying, that is everywhere too ( unfortunately).I wish to GOD parents would parent their children to have respect for others! When we did have an incident, they pulled the camera footage from the cafeteria and was able to see and know exactly what happened and all parties where dealt with quickly. Ms. Brown is a very strong leader and the office staff has always been helpful to me. Even when there was a dismissal problem, they were willing to listen to parent input and even changed the whole procedure based on a parents suggestion. That would never happen in regular public school. Ms. Brown is ALWAYS open to any idea that can make life at DSCB better for everyone!

If i could give this school a negative 10 I would.. Worst mistake of my life putting my kid here!! The administration bullies your kid with disabilities worse than the kids who push them down (which they do nothing about). And they are quick to get rid of them for a few days just so they do not have to deal with your kid.. whos grades are good and behavior is getting better THEY DONT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT THEIR CHECK in the front office. Principal to Dean and their Asst Principal is aweful to. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the headache of dealing with this school and putting your child in danger

This school is awful. I am a very involved parent with a child in 8th and 9th grade this year. Roughly 10 students have left mid-year this year because the parents pulled them early and sent them to Mandarin. Several more families plan to move there kids for high school next year. Instagram photos are constantly posted of kids and teachers while in class, photos of kids kissing while in class and "twerking". Feels just like public school, kids love it for obvious reasons. Very disappointing when compared to other Charter schools and other charter associations around the state.

DCSB is a great school, our kids have attended for three years and have had amazing teachers, this is a high expectation school. The principal is amazing and parental involvement is required. AAA++++ school and I highly recommend it!

The teachers and administration is this school is a good drama team. The all work together starting from the car line to the classroom to trouble the child and delay their dismissal and the P.E coaches go to any extent to hurt the child and the parents in turn. They have a lot of flaws in the system.

Have had a lot of communication issues with teachers and some have been really mean to my son. This is his first year st DCBS. Honestly they need more ESE teachers as his has 3 grades by herself and he is not getting the one on one attention he did at magnet schools and to me it is affecting his learning progress. I am contemplating keeping him here the next school year and debating if this school is the best for my other children to attend going into K. Def looking at other options..

The school is known to make staffing changes throughout the school year. My daughters middle school math teacher was reassigned to teaching high school math mid year. The location and facility for this school are terrible. The parking lot serves as basketball and volleyball courts. The school does not have the feel of a school due to the building being commercial. FCAT scores for elementary and middle are average. Scores for HS are below average compared to mandarin area public schools.

As a student I LOVE this school. There are many opportunities to receive a scholarship, many after school activities, great discipline, and hard working students. There maybe a rare case of a physical fight in high school but, that's typical. Actually, only 2 happened last year compared to other schools when that's a daily "event" that happens at least a minimum of 4 per day. After that the principal really work her bottom off to make sure that our school has a clean environment. Also, the Cambridge program at our school is quite a challenge but it motivates us to try and go beyond our limits of education to show how much we as kids can develop to have brighter futures. This is our second year at DCSB and I couldn't be happier. My daughter loves being there and the staff is committed to helping the students. The school has a few kinks to work out but fortunately the improvements they need are things that do not impact student education (car line). The principal and staff are the best around Town! Honestly the drop off and pick up would not be bad if some parents would have a little more courtesy and respect the fact that we all are there to drop off our children and head on to work.

Coming out of Kindergarten I was determined to move my son out of his neighborhood school for lack of support from the teachers and staff. I was seriously contemplating a private school for him. Then I heard about Charter Schools USA and the new school coming to town. I took a leap of faith to move my son from a neighborhood school to the brand new Duval Charter School at Baymeadows. We are now starting our third school year with DCSB! The principal loves all the students at the school. The faculty and staff are amazing! I couldn't be more pleased!! It was the best move for my son. My son is succeeding with an abundance of support from teachers and staff that truely care about the quality of his education and charater!!! You know they are doing a great job when the student can't wait to get back to school and says he wants to stay there all the way thru high school graduation!! Keep up the great work DCSB!!!!

While the school itself is not that bad, the environment is like a public middle school. Someone brought a knife to school last year, lots of violence, just not very safe, as far as other charter schools go. The teachers let kids turn in assignments 4-5 weeks late, only taking 10% off. My child didnt really apply themself much at the beginning yet the teacher gave a packet on the 8th week and passed my daughter. My other dai\ughter worked hard and was always early in turning in work. Teach gave them nearly the same grade. That teaches our kids that you dont have to try hard but can still get passed through school. Shame on the teachers, they obviously want to look good with no failing students.

Location is in the middle of a commercial area. The hours changed for the elementary children and parents cannot get in line to pick them up until after 3:30. It is a mess. today I am regretting my decision to move my daughter to this school after desperately praying to get her there. (lottery) So far I am not impressed

We will miss DCSB this year as we have moved out of Duval County. We were very pleased with the principal, teachers and policies. My kids felt comfortable there compared to another "A" middle school nearby. There was not an issue of bullying and my kids did not witness one single physical "fight" all year long compared to the other middle school where bullying and fighting was an everyday event. It was a great relief. If your child is a bully, that behavior isn't tolerated at DCSB!

This School has strong leadership and the teachers are on board. In its second year, this school is doing a excellent Job of getting the students to buy in as well, which in reality has more to do with the parents but nonetheless the faculty is doing it well. Truly a breath of fresh air The school is Cambribge AICE certified , which my daughter is a part of and is enjoying being in those classes with students of her level. In a nut shell my daughter is doing great, is always happy to get off to school, speaks fondly of her teachers, Dean and Principal and takes pride in the work she presents. All in All 11 out of 10

This school is great. Had a rough teacher the first half of the year who wasn't very cooperative with my sons 504 plan. The principal easily moved my child to another teacher. However.. if your child is not gifted then they will be in with the pool of kids that could be really bad or really good. Gifted program is completely exclusive from the rest of the kids. My child is avg and tries hard but did not qualify. I was told they are trying to rectify this issue and realize that making it so exclusive actually did more harm than good for the rest of the children. Otherwise.. GREAT people trying hard. Keep in mind...it's still a public school and ALL that comes with that.
