My son has been attending VPK for the 2015-2016 school year and he's made significant academic headway in this time. Like MAJOR. Any issues or questions I've had have been answered very swiftly by the VPK director (who is literally amazing). His teachers are fantastic and care about each and every student doing well. Super happy with my son's progress at Plato Tarpon Springs so far.

To finish from above. However, their security is very laxed, there are very few after school clubs and activities. .Greek celebrations take precedence over everything else. THIS year it superceded Veterans Day. If you're Greek, this will not be an issue. Also, 2nd grade and up, parents please be aware that the average exams are from 4 to 5 per week. There is at least 2 to 3 hours of homework every night, and the weekends. This doesn't include mandatory school projects. This leaves very little time for kids to unwind and decompress. The intensity of the curriculum does not allow for accommodation of those struggling with concepts, especially common core. All children are different and learn at different paces. EVEN for the brightest students, the homework demand is grueling. There is no chorus. The Space for recess is very limited. The cafeteria has been closed since before the 2014 -2015 school year started. All children have to eat in their classrooms. The kids are challenged academically, but this school does nothing extra to develop your child into a well rounded person.

I am so happy with this school. Everyone that works there is outstanding. My daughter loves going to school for the first time ever and the principal really cares about the students. It feels welcoming and but the kids are still challenged accordingly.
