Teachers have always been very communicative with me about my sons behavior and performance and tried hard to help my high-functioning autistic child succeed in an otherwise neuro-typical class.
Posted: August 8, 2019
Have had to have my child transferred out of a class because his autism spurred bullying that was not sufficiently controlled and caused him to have meltdowns.
Posted: August 8, 2019
Principal seems to think autism isnt a thing and that my child should function like every other child. Fortunately teachers and ESE staff have had more control over his day-to-day functioning than she has.
Posted: August 8, 2019
Some staff (teachers, ESE staff) does very well.
Upper management, not so much.
Posted: August 8, 2019
My child had to transfer classes to get away from bullying due to his autism.
Posted: August 8, 2019
I sincerely and highly appreciate the teachers who have worked hard to help my child, but feel the overall policies at the school dont address the special needs of high functioning autism.
Its like he falls through the cracks because hes too normal for special needs classes, but too different for general Ed classes, and its frustrating.

It's not my fault you don't have enough employees to run your bus routes. It is NOT acceptable to tell me I need to either walk or drive my special needs kids to school or "they will probably not get to school until around 8:30" 30 minutes AFTER school STARTS.

My kids never get any homework, in the last private schools they have attended they've always had homework.
Posted: March 7, 2018
My child is in the ESE Pre-K program. Some of the teachers seem to believe that a child's behavior is 100% the fault of bad parenting and has nothing to do with the fact that many of the kids in these classes are on the Autism spectrum and have behavioral disorders. How can you possibly help a situation if you're in denial that the situation exists?

Calls to administration are always taken seriously and they always respond quickly and try to help resolve the matter.
Posted: March 7, 2018
One of the Speech Therapists is very rude and acts like she's so important that you can't even say two words to her without making an appointment, she's not approachable at all. Some of the assistant teachers in the ESE classrooms are old fashioned and that they don't believe in many of the special needs diagnosis, they would rather criticize a parent's parenting and criticize the kids' shortcomings and never have suggestions to work with parents on how to improve a child's behavior. Some of them in ESE need to be retrained. You cannot treat kids on the Autism spectrum the same as typical kids, nor can you expect the same behaviors from them and make the kids and parents feel like failures because of this. Special Needs parents try very hard, special needs kids try very hard, we need professionals that understand this and will work with us.

Mixed bag. The ESE head teachers, most ESE teaching assistants and Administration were easy to work with, polite and professional. One of the ESE teaching assistants and one of the Speech Therapists were unprofessional, sometimes rude and not very helpful. We are moving our kids to another school.

No respect as evidenced by the asst principals ease with lying to me! Especially about something so serious as a peanut allergy and their policy on treats. Absolutely no integrity !
Posted: May 27, 2017
Asst principal lies. Told me that the teachers don't test with candy. Then we proceed to the tour and every teaches desk has a jar of candy. My son has a severe peanut allergy and this woman LIED about their policy on treats! Once she noticed in saw jar of Reese's cups on the desks she couldn't look me in the face! I pulled my daughter from the school and my son thankfully never attended.

When my child was there she revived very little homework

Actually had a teacher tell me all about her divorce and her family issues. This was at the Parent Teached meeting where she was supposed to tell me about my child. She said two words about my child then started telling me about how terrible her life was. I think she was on somethjng

We left this school- my daughter attended for two years and then we left for private school. Asst principal lied to me about policy for treats . My son was to start kindergarten and I refuse to send him or my daughter to a school where the asst principal has no personal integrity. My son has a peanut allergy and she told me teaches don't treat with candy. We then tour the classrooms and teaches had test jars visible in desk- one filled with Reese's cups- PATHETIC liar!

I cannot speak for all teachers, but the ones that taught/teach my children are very good.
Posted: May 23, 2017
I've seen a lot of disrespect when I've walked the campus. As for my children, we teach them to respect. It is a parents job to guide their children, not someone else in this matter.

My children entered this school when it was an A rated school. Since the beginning of the year, it dropped to a D rated school. Removal of the previous principal was a huge mistake. When you have something that works there is no need to replace it with something that doesn't work.

Again, when you have something that works no need to replace it.

I'm not satisfied with the school as of late and am looking to relocate them.
Posted: February 15, 2017
This school is awful! Do the research before doing your child a disservice and sending him to a D- rated school where they learn nothing, they are prejudiced, treat the kids like they are bad dogs, and have no respect for ANYONE! I cannot stress enough how horrible this school is.

Children who have everyday conflict are considered to be bullying each other. Kids will be kids, work it out!
Posted: February 15, 2017
They put the kids in one box, not acceptable. All children have different learning styles.
Posted: February 15, 2017
The leadership is terrible, disrespectful and not informative at all.
Posted: February 15, 2017
They don't respect the students so how can they teach it?
Posted: February 15, 2017
They are horrible. No respect for the students or the parents. No homework, no reinforcement of the little that they do learn.
Posted: February 15, 2017
There is no homework and if there is 1 math worksheet per week...

This school was great when my son started, but now 2 yrs later he is only given one sheet of math homework a night. I have to supplement his education in the evenings at home with more work (writing, spelling & reading) to make sure he stays ahead. The teachers hands are being tied as to how they can teach. My son is struggling when last yr he made Honor Roll every quarter.

The teachers hands are tied as they can't teach how they want. I've had them tell me this themselves.
Posted: September 29, 2016
One page of math homework a night isn't enough. I give him reading, writing and spelling assignments at home.

The asst. principles lack of apathy towards us was really telling about seffner elem. I will not send my son to a school when he is nothing but a number . This was our third and last year at seffner our son will attend private school. #overit

Awesome school. My daughter had a great teacher and a great experience here. The only drawback is the pick up line :).

The best school ever I If I could go back to school that is where I would like to go

Extremely happy with the school and feel it is a safe, nurturing environment. Teachers are good. Overall we feel like it is a good place for elementary education.

We are very happy with Seffner Elementary. School has high parent involvement which is a plus! Everyone we meet has been kind and helpful. This is our 1st year.

My child has had nothing but disappointments, bullying and teachers behaving badly at this school. The Assistant Principal acts as if she cares, but does not follow through with what she says she will do. It s awful, children are already mean to each other, then when you add in bullying from your own teacher....it just becomes ridiculous. It s sad to say it, but I think this school could benefit some much needed improvements, which they probably will never make.

Homework during FCAT week? Really??? Give them a break!! Aren't they under enough stress? "No homework" is the only relaxing perk to this week and its taken away from them?? You should be ashamed!!

I am a concerned grandparent in regards to my daughter. What are your guidelines regardinging parents being bullied by the principal. Is it acceptable to act condensending towards a parent in front of other parents on school grounds; and or to send threatening letters regarding parental rights? Is this your way of helping parents who need an guidance. To me, this is an over stepping boundaries and BULLING and to consider yourself above the bulling laws set place.

This is my daughter's 1st year at this school. She loves it and so do we. Her teacher Ms. Morris is awesome. They have many activities to get the kids interested in participating. Great school!!!
