I’m was a former student at this school now in high school worst school I ever went to not cool at all so many fights and 7th grade was the worst experience for me. Teachers can’t teach. They don’t do their job right. My old civics teacher humiliated me in front of the whole class in my 8th grade year. It was so embarrassing. Came home crying almost everyday because I didn’t know if I was gonna make it to the next grade because of how bad their teaching is. In my opinion I think they should take the school down if it was me.

terrible school as a former student all of the teachers couldn't teach because of the students and constant fights with vaping, teachers and faculty dont do anything about it and principles have huge favorites.

My son had a bad experience in this school. He is in 6th grade and he got bullied at this school. 3 kids with a ski mask pulled him in the bathroom, punched his head and his face. My son is traumatized from this school. Principal did his best, but no one identifies who hurt my kid. And now he is suffering from trauma and anxiety. Teachers are helpful but one of them did not even consider what my son is going through and gave him an F. She gave A on his progress report then gave him an F at the end of the quarter. And by the way, she only responded once after a week. Most of the teachers are very helpful, especially Mr G, Swenson and Falco.
They dont know what my son is going through.
I chose this school as school choice, coz i thought that this school is great and safe. But this is not a safety school to go. So frustrating that my son is still suffering from this.

(Former student)

TERRIBLE SCHOOL! PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE IF THEY HAVE A HISTORY OF MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES OR DISABLITIES!!

The school environment is atrocious, relentless bullying, fights, vaping/drugs, racism, negativity toward LGBTQ community, ableism, and bad conditions!
Your child may be able to learn, that is if the students don't destroy classrooms and absolutely disrespect the teachers to the point they can't teach. Some teachers can hardly do their job!
Safety sucks and they take mediocre measures to stop altercations or emergencies.
Family involvement is nearly none existent in this school.

PARENTS DO NOT TAKE STUDENTS HERE! From my personal experience in this school it is absolutely atrocious, constantly being bullied (both relating to homosexuality and disability), the staff don't do anything about this type of stuff even after parents have a conversation about it. People get into fights, people vape. Their IEP program doesn't really do much at all. They have an epidemic of bullying towards other students which is mentally draining. I'd recommend looking into other schools, especially if your child has a mental disability. The teachers are alright, not bad but not good either. Family involvement isn't really much of a thing at this school either.

Worst school ever! Overcrowded, bullying runs rampant, vaping, fights. Not enough teachers and a horrific ESE program.

Good school and positive interactions with faculty.

I used to attend Burns. The quality of the homework depends on the class/instructor. My grades fell due to bullying (more on that later).

Posted: July 8, 2018

I loved my AP history teacher but she never asked me why I missed so many classes and on the day I actually needed to miss, she told the principle right in front of me that I always missed class on important days. My English teacher showed a small hint of concern and asked me why I missed so many classes, my classmates literally bullied me in front of her. One year it was so bad that I finally reported the worst offender and they pulled her from my class, but the next semester she was in every one of my classes.

Posted: July 8, 2018

On a positive note, for the AP students yes. For all the other classes the are totally blind to developing compassion, respect and empathy. Thank God my family moved.

Posted: July 8, 2018

From the perspective of a former student. I strongly disagree. Form a better system to support your student bodies life and education. Find the teachers that shine and help them influence the other teachers please!

Posted: July 8, 2018

Unable to comment since I don't have a learning disability and didn't have exposure to anyone that did. Not that i'm aware of anyways.

Posted: July 8, 2018

No. As a former student at Burns I can 100% say that this is not true. I had a classmate that I attended a different school with and we both found ourselves here. She too was bullied severely and has a lot of issues with self-worth. I'm incredibly disappointed to see in the comments that the bullying continues.

Posted: July 8, 2018

Horrible. If you know that your child is fully an AP student that I think they might be fine. Otherwise please don't send your child here. Please.

No oversight into quality or content just completion

Posted: June 8, 2017

They do not teach they just complete lesson plans ...

Posted: June 8, 2017

There is no development of character or compassion...if your child is different don't risk attendance at burns they will be bullied and demeaned and the "school leader" will ineffectively deall with the problem.

Posted: June 8, 2017

Bullying is a significant problem at that school and the " school leader" and "leadership" team do not take is seriously. They do not enforce personal boundries. There is no focus on a moral/ethical compass of the students who attend that school. Significant incidents of physical violance are not reported as required.

Posted: June 8, 2017

Posted: June 8, 2017

My child has been bullied several times physically as have several other children of friends and nothing ever happens. The "school leader" says" boys will be. Boys" or girls will be girls" and continue to allow physical violance to occur

Posted: June 8, 2017

Would never have moved into this school district if we had know about the inner workings at burns. It is scary what happens there.

Posted: June 2, 2016

My child is in this school and I can't wait until its over...the high rating is misleading. The students has lost control of all moral ethics and the teachers seems to accept this behavior. Today they were showing nude pix of a female. This school needs to be re evaluated. We will not be returning. The board of education needs to look at the administration and rate this school as it should be rate. The five stars are old and null and void

Posted: June 2, 2016

I reported a couple of incidents in the school. That was disturbing such as female student displaying condoms in the girls locker room.

Posted: June 2, 2016

My child loves homework so I saw no problem with her keeping ip the assignments

Posted: June 2, 2016

Students and teachers should be held accountable for misbehaving and the teachers should take a personal interested in what is going on in this school. From drugs, sex, nude photos to fighting.

My 3rd and youngest is currently in 8th grade and I can't wait until he's done at that school. The majority if the faculty is rude and treats the kids horribly. They expect automatic respect even though they don't show it - it's a 2-way street. They gossip about the kids, warning each other about certain kids, effectively killing that kids chance of changing for the better. Kids are always smoking e-cigs and blunts (filled with pot) in the bathroom, kissing and fondling in areas teachers don't, monitor. Kids are horrible and there isn't a consistent discipline plan.

My daughter attended 6th and now 7th grade and is in advanced honors classes. 6th grade was great, but 7th grade has been a nightmare! Kids kissing on premises, cursing and the sexting is crazy our of control! I caught my daughter sexting and called the guidance councelor and she didnt seem to think it was a BIG deal! My daughter is 12! This is not normal. She didnt call the boy in the office or even offer to have a parent to parent meeting. I am transferring her out of this school as soon as I can.
