Severe bullying by students and staff has been a serious issue. In my experience, students in general education do not receive the same quality of support or educational experience. The gifted program feels like a completely different school altogether, highlighting concerning inconsistencies in environment and student experience. I personally will never put another child through this school

I am a former student of central middle school and my younger brother is attending currently. This school does not pay attention to the real problems like fights, violence, and threats. I remember back when I attended there was a gun threat and what they decided to do was add two more security guards for 3 days. I had another encounter with my 1st period teacher who I asked to use the bathroom and he would let me because of the 10/10 rule which is where you have to be in class for the first and last 10 minutes. Not only did i need to use the bathroom but it was an emergency. I texted my father hoping he could do something and he told me I should just leave. So I did, my teacher gave me a referral and I got called down to talk to the 7th grade dean. I explain the situation and she tells me that she will void my referral. That was probably the best thing that could’ve happened when it comes to being cited a referral, in my brothers case. This past week he had an encounter on the bus, where people were threatening to come onto my father’s private property to fight my brother. My brother retaliated and responded with “if you come to my dads house with the goal to beat me up, he will open the door with a firearm” the bus driver heard this and reported my brother and when he got called down to the deans, they isolated him in a small white room while they questioned him and searched through all of his personal belongings. He was given 8 days of suspension for a “threat” when it was just a warning, in the U.S. you have the right to bear arms, especially when it comes to your own property. This school is not somewhere you learn, the one goal of this school is to punish you for your own existence.

Four of my children have gone to Central middle school with one attending at this time. The teachers are pretty good. I especially appreciate the Orchestra and Chorus teachers. They are wonderful and love their song choices. They always bring me to tears.

The only complaint I have is that my child made the track team but never ran a single race. It’s frustrating to pay $25+ and sit for hours at track meets wondering if my child is actually going to get to run this time, just to find out that unfortunately no, not again. It’s absolutely ridiculous to have a back up team member either you make the team or you don’t, but to have some one make the team and not even participate is absurd.

I go to this school and it is nasty there are cockroaches that you will see in daylight that is not normal. The teachers are giving out referrals because you are "out of area" before the first bell even rings. This school has lots of fight the lowest at 2 fights a day. Would not recommend this school or some teachers. This school doesn't let you sit with your friends and if they catch you not sitting at your table you will get suspended if they catch you twice. In my Spanish teachers classroom I have no joke seen 6 cockroaches in that class I have seen them also walking in the lunch room and 2 weeks ago there was one on the patio where some kids eat lunch trying to crawl out of a crack in the wall. Honestly they have to get this school under control.

I am very disappointed with the leadership of the 7th-grade dean. Instead of serving as an advocate and role model for students, she often seems focused on punishment and control. In my son’s case, her actions felt more like retaliation than guidance, which erodes trust between families and the school. A dean should be someone who helps students grow and succeed, but that has not been our experience. I strongly encourage the school to reconsider how this role is being carried out, because students deserve fairness, consistency, and genuine support.

The referrals are ridiculous and there's an article showing it went up 150 percent in Brevard County. I understand because teachers don't get paid enough in this area. So a quick n easy write a referral to not have to deal with anything. My son got a referral end of week of school which ended up in 2 days suspension for a minor referral and because there was no more iss. He missed finals and had to make up for it. Days are unexcused as well. From what my 3 children 16,14,12 all say the same thing about this school is that teachers don't care and I learned this year they are referral happy because it makes their job easier.

Teachers are awesome. Most of the kids are great too. One year my son was there. Late in the year a couple of kids misbehaved. But overall. School is great. There’s lots of clubs that get kids involved. My son was in 3-4 of them. He loved it.

Communication with teachers is virtually impossible. The answer I got time and again we’re the largest middle school. 1300 students. Classrooms 25-27 students. They stopped apologizing for not returning emails, messages or phone calls.
Bottom line: there are excellent teachers. But with all the school’s discipline problems and large classroom sizes- it was horrible for my son. His behavior changed for the worse. He started failing classes. When I asked for papers to withdraw him as a student , they said we could try the Eagle Program to get a better classroom environment(avoid the troubled kids).
The day before I withdrew my son he said he was a bad kid. ‘Why?’ I asked. ‘Because I’m in the classes with the bad kids.’
In the mornings kids would get dropped off earlier. And a group of boys would normally be running around the front of the school playing and stuff. Then they started playing rap music with expletives. Blaring it out. And one boy took off his t shirt and proceeded to blast out the music. The resource officer got out of his squad car and walked past him and went into the front office. He didn’t do anything. Why? It was a normal morning. This was normal behavior.
It’s sad because there are a lot of good kids there.

There are several good teachers at the school. But there are so many classroom disciplinary problems it is not a conducive environment to learning. Overcrowding does not help either(27 in a class) The Dean visited my son’s class several times in order to try and regain order in the classroom. It did not work. The classroom was loud, disruptive. Kids were standing on the desk.

Some teachers do not even explain the work...let alone the homework.

Posted: November 2, 2018

Very few teachers care about the students.

Posted: November 2, 2018

Most teachers at CM have no respect for themselves, let alone a child.

Posted: November 2, 2018

What leadership? There is no true leadership here.

Posted: November 2, 2018

There are very few teachers who actually care whether a child has any difficulties learning.

Posted: November 2, 2018

While there is hardly any bullying between students, there is a lot of bullying by teachers to students.

Posted: November 2, 2018

If there was a negative number for rating, it would be a negative 10. While there are some (very few) teachers who actually care for students (and not necessarily their own), the teachers and staff who do not care outweigh any positives that are found.

Central is okay, I'm in the MYP program and I don't think I can last longer. The MYP teachers give way too much homework for me to handle. I play sports, and I know that school comes first, but having to stay up until 1-3 in the morning, even when I don't have practice is ridiculous. I secretly struggle with depression & self-harm, & this school is stressing me out. Teachers don't realize that some students are collapsing under the pressure they have put on them to succeed. Some teachers are just rude embarrass you in front of people without thinking. I also have like, 5 minutes to eat lunch everyday. There are 3 normal, a snack (rarely) & a line where you can buy other food everyday, and they're way too long, and I want time to eat my food. They also have bad requirements for MYP. I don't want to take Spanish until High School, yet I HAVE to take it, which I don't think is fair. There's lots of unnecessary rules that don't keep us any safer. Overall, I don't enjoy central. (7th grader)

I am a former student of Central Middle School. As far as i know its a decent school. The students that attend this school are rebellious and act out in rash manners however there are some really nice one. It really just depends on the groups of students you surround yourself with. A lot of physical fights occur mainly from rumors and he say she say.The fights are very very violent . The teachers that work there are okay. I don"t know that for all the teachers but personally for mine , i wish they were more involved and motivational. great dance and cheer program. WARNING : the food is not the best
