On Tuesday February 17th, my daughter went back to school after being out for a week with the flu. She was still taking her flu medicine, but when she went back, she started feeling sick. She went to the nurse and the nurse told her " I'm sick too but I have to work" and sent my daughter back to class like that! No call to me or her dad! Our daughter had to call us and texted us saying she wasn't ok. I called the school and asks if they would let her sit in the clinic until her daddy got there and was told no! So she had to sit in class being that sick! Absolutely unacceptable!!!! My daughter came home and immediately got sick! Called her doctor and they said it was side affects from the flu medication! When a child goes to the clinic parents should be notified immediately! That way we know what's going on with our kid! Communication!!! Please do better with your school nurse!!!!!!!

my daughter has been attacked twice in this school under the supervision of the same teacher. last incident on 1/17/25 where she was hit in the head with a rock causing us to go to the hospital.

Though I thought most of my experience at this school wasn't that bad, I believe I just got used to the horrible environment implemented there. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting, half the time they were never opened anyway, and the staff, not including the teachers, were down right disrespectful. My sibling goes there as of this year and almost every day she talks about how poorly people like the assistant principals and the newer principal treat the students. There are fights every other day and the people who instigate the fights are barely ever reprimanded, While the victims of said fights are suspended for even WEEKS at a time. The sports Id say are are mediocre, they have an NJHS program which was good. I participated in it and it was productive. Though, From what ive heard Its not doing very well this year. I will say there are a few teachers who are amazing at what they do, though it does not outweigh the amount of teachers who just dont teach at all. I realized I wasnt getting a good learning experience during my time here when school became so much easier for me In highschool, especially math, which I only began to struggle with In my 3 years attending Rodgers. If I were a parent, I would NEVER send my child here. The only reason I ever went was because I was zone for this school. I would most definitely recommend you send your child somewhere else If youre able.

This place is the absolute WORST. There are multiple fights every single day. The kids have social media groups where they show fights as well as make fun of kids. Both Asst Principals are a complete joke and are only concerned with covering their own butts. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting covered in graffiti, no toilet paper, feces on the floor. They are more concerned with the dress code than they are the student's safety. It will take you at least 30 mins plus trying to get in and out of car line. Very dangerous road right in front of the school with many accidents and even kids getting hit by cars. Kids steal from the teachers.
The bullying is non stop and the administration does absolutely nothing about it. They have the worst sports teams in the area. They didn't even have a coach for one sport and the kids were out their practicing with no coach! STEER CLEAR!!

I sent my daughter to this school for her 6th, 7th & 8th grade year. Over the past 3 years my daughter was bullied. The kids there would call her all the names regarding her weight, and simply because of her pimples. Her 6th grade year she reported the bullying to the main office and nobody did anything to help her. She had to get a schedule change out of some of her classes because the bullying would make her feel so depressed! They didn't even talk to the kids who bullied her. So now those kids think it's okay to bully people. My daughter is a sweet angel, and I feel so bad that I let her down and put her through 3 years of just depression. Her 8th grade year she would always ask to skip school, and as a mother who loves her kid I would let her skip at least 1-2 days every week or two. If you're planning on sending your kid to this school, please don't! Your kid will gain nothing but depression, and suicidal thoughts. Not to mention, the teachers barely do their job! My daughter gained absolutely nothing from this school, the only teacher she ever liked and gained something out of was one teacher who she only got to have once in 7th grade for Civics. Worst 3 years of my daughters life and I'm so happy she's out of that mess and at a way better high school!

My grandson has attended Rodgers Middle School for 6th; 7th and now 8th grade. He is on the honor roll and in the Honor Society at this school. His teachers seem caring and he likes going to school. Yes all schools have their issues and this one is no exception but he has done fabulous in this school and he is looking forward to 8th grade.

My son started here this year as an 8th grader and he loves it. I , as a parent , have had nothing but great experiences with this school , the teachers and all the other staff. I hate to even put this in writing however it seems to me, again my personal opinion, that the negative stars are being pointed in the wrong direction. If your child doesnt do the work , act in a respectful way to the staff or do their part to get their work done and a teach holds them to a grade that reflects that .. then its not the schools fault.

We moved from out of state and my daughter went to this school the first half of this year. The school is very rough! Kids run through the halls screaming hitting jumping on each other. Boys and girls making out. Kids harassing each other. Go there during class change and I promise you'll wonder if what you're seeing is real! If your child is an extrovert and natural leader, they might be able to rise above the crowd here, but my daughter is a follower and trust me you don't want your child following some of this crowd. Back to school night: hardly any parents attend which shows you how invested the parents are too. The main office is total chaos. I feel bad for the nice lady in there but what a mess! Before my daughter even started we had to correct her schedule (wrong classes) 3 times! Bullying started towards my daughter almost immediately. Grades went from straight As to Bs and Cs in a matter of months. Teachers don't reply to emails. Grades not updated in Edsby. Guidance Counselor said nothing can be done about bullying involving cell phones because they are personal property. The guidance counselor even suggested finding a school that is "not so aggressive". When she said that I realized AGGRESSIVE is the perfect word for this school. Assistant Principal gave some canned response about the school going through change. Said new Administration is changing the culture, etc. While I'm grateful someone is working on this nightmare, that type of change takes years!! This response about change and new leadership is everywhere. I even believe there's something from the Principal on this site about how they're working on changing the school. However it got to be where that response was over used and immediate issues are not being addressed. We pulled our daughter and put her in a local charter school. (Even many staff at the charter school will tell you what horror stories they've heard about Rodgers). After moving my daughter, she went right back to her straight As and no longer deals with the nightmare. If you have any choice at all, do not let your child attend this school!

This is an excellent school! Always improving. As the new communities have popped up more and more funding becomes available and they have done and excellent job putting it to use.

Academically challenging, culturally Diverse, EXCELLENT programs! There is a place for everyone at Rodgers. Actively involved families from local community work hard to make Rodgers an amazing school

The teachers never update Edsby and rarely if ever respond to repeated messages. They allow teachers assistants to grade papers for them since they apparently can't spend the time to do it themselves even though they each get a free period. There are kids constantly wandering the halls with no supervision and fights happening all the time. It is not a good school.

Great School, very organized and they keep the parents informed. The front office is very helpful and courteous, unlike the charter school down the road. My children love this school and are doing very well and are honor students.

I have not been impressed with this school at all. First impression driving up to it is prison like. Every single time I have gone to the front office it has been chaotic. The first couple times I excused it as 'the morning rush' but I have since gone back at other times and it is just VERY disorganized. The front office lady, while pleasant enough of a person, is clueless as to what is going on in the school. I witnessed field trip confusion, hearing test location confusion, fundraiser chaos, etc. There are student helpers that are in the front office area and I think it just adds to the chaos. The students are missing a huge opportunity to learn people care skills. They are reduced to answering the entry gate calls (which just adds to the prison feel) and buzzing people in. The distance from the gate door and the gate communicator are too far apart, the children say 'open the door when you hear a click' well it silent clicks almost immediately and you still have to walk over to the door. This can easily be remedied by having students cont to maybe 3-4 before 'opening' the gate. Instead I have personally experienced calling up to the office multiple times just trying to figure out the timing and listening for a click to get the dang door open!! If the least of the schools problems were a gate and a secretary that seems kinda lost most of the time, it wouldn't be a big deal but I have had multiple issues trying to communicate with teachers and get information and paperwork necessary for events. My son had a field trip coming up for a competition, I kept asking about field trip paper work, details about the where, why, why, etc. and it wasn't ready yet. When was it ready? Two days before the event. I once sent an e-mail to a teacher and received a reply a month later. It just seems that Rodger's middle is... disconnected. The bones could be good if they could just get connected with the muscles. Over all I am thankful my child only has one year left here and I am working on alternate arrangements for my child set to enter middle school next fall.

Both of my children attended Rodgers, and now I am the principal. I was appointed in March of 2013, and was given the opportunity to hire my own Assistant Principals as well as other staff members. At the moment, we have three FANTASTIC AP's with 740 students. I have also hired TOP NOTCH staff, including teachers, resource people, and instructional support who truly care about our students. Our Student Council is also AWESOME, participating in many charitable drives and events for the needy. Regardless of what may or may not have occurred at Rodgers in the past, our entire administrative staff was not there at the time, nor should we or the school be blamed and judged based on past events, no matter how tragic. I have done my best to make it an inviting, welcoming family-like atmosphere with a safe, caring, and orderly environment. Rodgers is an excellent school I used to go there and the FIRST PRIORITY IS TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE HAPPY . Guidance counselors and teachers all care about your education , The principal is amazing ! And yeah a girl died but School board did everything to correct it , We got a new principal , Asistant principal , And this school is much better than it was . And the chorus program is excellent !!! Mr Lopez is one of the best teachers there ! And when we went to preform for MPAs and universal and especially concerts we got amazing ratings like excellent and superior (the highest ratings) I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Students are shoved through the system. Administration is more concerned with covering their a** than doing their job. Teachers are just plain tired and burned out. Thugs rule the school with little to no adult intervention and definitely no consequences for their actions. Student Government consists of teachers, parents, administrators and IS A JOKE. Teachers just talk about how overworked they are and tests they administer. The school literally looks like a prison! Do whatever you have to do as a parent to make sure your child DOES NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL. You and your child will regret it for the rest of your lives! This is the school 2 years ago where the little girl was not watched by teachers, wandered off and drown! BE WARNED.

My daughter sent her son to Rodgers for 6th grade. We took him out after a couple of months and transferred him to a Charter School in the area. He is doing excellent, learning without distractions. He was bullied every day, punched, pushed and thrown on the floor at lunch. When he defended himself, he got in trouble. Right after he left, a special needs girl drown in the pond behind the school, sad. Parents take your kids out of there. No kid should have to endure that.
