My son attended this school from 7th grade to currently now he is in the HS. The curriculum is very good and my son has learned a lot despite his struggles earlier on. We love this school, its clean, friendly and safe. The teachers and staff are amazing and they communicate with you very well. The school has been very accommodating with my son and his IEP, for which we are very thankful. I would definitely recommend Franklin Academy K-12. My daughter will be attending also for Kindergarten in August.......can't wait!!!!

I was pushed to try Charter schools with the Covid19 situation. I could not afford private school so I tried Charter. I was pleasantly surprised. The school is new so the classes are set up with new technology and wifi ready. The school and the grounds are beautiful and new. The playground is new.
The teachers are very nice and communicative. Super open and available. No politics and BS like public school. They email you immediately and I found them to be very open to interacting with the parents.
The principal was and is amazing! MS. Nadal always communicated via email and text if needed. Updates daily about any covid concerns. The teaching staff greets the kids in the carline. That was very sweet. They wave and say good morning to the cars. Not like public school where it's the office staff and they yell at parents and kids for not knowing all the rules. Both schools want to do the best for the kids, At least I want to believe that. But, I will stick with Franklin till 12th Grade. My son loves it there as well.

Wonderful school, great leadership, excellent teachers who are compassionate and caring. The ESE department is on top of your child's needs. Unfortunately, this school does not have a H.S.

My daughter's classroom was extremely negative. It was being taught by a former corrections officer who was rude and abrasive. My daughter came home every day in tears and told me she was afraid of her teacher. When we sought out a classroom change and shared our concerns with administration, we were treated terribly. They have a zero classroom/teacher change policy. The vice principal shared my letter with the teacher, informing her of what my child had complained about prior to even discussing it with me, pulled my child out of class, interrogated her like a criminal with no parents present and without our knowledge and then sent her back to class with a target on her head. They refused to switch her class, told me my daughter was a liar, and said that my child's opinion was none of their concern. I called the board members and received no response. I heard back from the Principal one week after all of this happened and he offered to pack my children's supplies personally because they have a list with hundreds of students ready to fill my child's spot if we don't like their policies! You sign away your rights on the parent contract. There is no accountability or repercussions for their bad behavior. This is why Charter Schools are terrible. They only care about the money your child is worth to them. If you are not successful or happy with their school, they could care less. If you choose to send your child here, know that you will like it until there is an issue. At which time, no-one will care or help.

We are going on our third year at Franklin and have had a great experience so far. The two teachers we've had have been wonderful and easy to work with. Yes, the classrooms are small, but I guess that's good because only a certain amount of kids fit, can't go over. The car line has gotten much better and hopefully it will continue to improve. The only negative comment I have is the front desk, they tend to be rude, unapproachable and have no patience. They definitely need to work on their people skills. Overall we are happy at Franklin, I don't think you can find a school that is perfect just one that fits your needs.

I really like the school for my two children. It is going to be the third year. Couple of thoughts. With regards to no homework policy. I read a few comments and all I can say that I am so grateful I do not have to spend 1 and 1/2 hour every day per child doing homework, instead focus on other things. You have a choice to review materials online, but it is a great plus! Single gender also I agree, boys and girls do learn differently. School is clean, fresh, young and energetic teachers. Yes, they might not be experienced, but they try hard and that's all that matters. Carline: I do not understand bad comments. You get this everywhere else you go. After the first year, it got pretty organized and you have options, bus transportation, aftercare, etc. Lots of extracurricular activities. Uniform: my kids like the uniforms, they are not cheap, but material-wise is really good and the company is really helpful too. Overall, I am very pleased with the school. There's always going to be haters, they are never going to be happy no matter where they go! Teacher's communication: it depends, but if you are a parent and focus on your child, it is a two-way communication!

Parents, Google "the homework myth." Our son's teacher posts weekly which animated modules, chapters, etc. to visit on Think Central. We also get test reviews, enrichment, fluency readers, etc., just not boring worksheets or developmentally inappropriate projects that parents end up doing for their kids anyway. Car line: yes, sucked first weeks; now it takes 25 minutes in the afternoon. Not so easy to say stagger release or let car line in earlier: because of parking lot structure, car line would block people coming in and out of lot before release time + there are at least 3 other schools on Flamingo, so the city ties the school's hands as to directions/times allowed. Uniform sweatshirt costs $15.90: hardly expensive. Perfect? No. The classrooms ARE tiny, which wouldn't be such an issue except school does support single-gender model; in theory then boys should be given lots of physical space: why then continue to build such tiny schools? Admin also seems to favor inexperienced (read = cheap) teachers. Parents think young teachers are great: until they leave halfway through the year to go to a better-paying school and their kids get stuck with a sub for the other half of the year.

I was very excited last year since it was a new school and a Charter school. This is the second year and I have to say I'm not really seeing that the no home work policy is really a good idea for children. When they get to college and they have all this home work, they will not be prepared for that. Children do need homework to reinforce the skills they learn from class. It really is setting our children up for failure. I really have to say, I'm going to look into other options for my child. I would like it if other parents feel the same to address it to the school. It may be a big concern for other parents.

I disagree with the negative 5 star post... My children have been in the school for a couple of years, now. To think that ANY child-pick up is a quick process is just foolish. The staff does their best and the people have always tried to accommodate us as parents, within reason. There are issues with any school and some people simply do not like certain environments. That's life... But to knock the school on all counts is unfair and almost contrived. No jackets allowed in the cold? Gimme a break. We faced bullying issues with both our children and each time it was addressed swiftly and professionally and ultimately resolved for good. The Deans and Principal have always been receptive to concerns with regards to teachers and their methods. We have had conferences and dealt with issue like any other pre-teen parent, but I feel that they do a very good job of creating a safe environment, conducive to my children's learning and development. Is it a private school? No. But it isnt Public School either... People should manage their expectations and realize they work for our children, not for us.

If there were negative stars I would probably rate it -5 stars. Don't be fooled by the pretty building, inside is a sweatshop. They implement the fear tool a lot. Some of the teachers need to be educated about the difference between tyranny and discipline. They blah blah about bullying and their zero tolerance for it and the biggest bullies are the teachers. Learning there is not fun and their classrooms are tiny. Kids are not engaged into their development, along with the no homework policy which sets your children up to fail. If you research their scores for math and reading you'll see that they are way less than the A+ as they advertise. Pick up and drop off is a total chaos, You will loose two hours during pick up and at least 30 minutes while drop off. We learn our lesson with this wanna be private school, his spot will be free soon. The school is a circus. During the winter which we are not used to, they asked the kids that did not have a franklin jacket to take it off and put theirs away on a 58-60 degrees weather. What if you can't afford to buy their overpriced jacket? Do yourself a favor and send your kids to any other school a real school.

I will preface by saying that we are still new to the school so I am hoping my opinion will change over time. I am finding communication really challenging- whether it be with teachers or others. Email and volunteering are critical to open communication here and I am doing both but I am still not feeling like anyone really cares what I am concerned about as a parent. I feel like I'm inconveniencing people by emailing or wanting to meet. I wish I had time to join the PTO- maybe that would help. Also, I thought the gender separation for core classes might be a good thing for my son but I don't really see a different approach between boys' and girls'- just based on observations volunteering anyway. Perhaps, it varies by grade level. I am still hopeful that this will be a great fit for us but we are off to a rocky start.

Staff is mean specially the staff in the front desk Teachers are good It is a new school so they need more organization and better skills to be able to deal with the students The school is very clean parent participation is almost 100% Activities and special classes are great. Academic curriculum is moderate. Gifted program is not so good They should test students that have good grades and put them in a gifted program or advance classes by group. I like that boys and girls are separated for the main classes Lunch needs to be more organize, and the food needs to be healthy and I have to packed lunch for my kid because cafeteria food is not that good it is like in every other school. Car line still a problem in the morning and afternoon. There is a police officer directing the lines and he or she only lets south bound go over the limit time and the north bound line is a nightmare. The police officer does not let you go in the school till 2:10 pm They need to change and learn from other schools. Release the kids by grade and this problem can be avoided. Over all, the school is clean, teachers are great, but needs to work a lot in management and more computers for the kids

I love it! This school has been a great experience. I was very nervous about the single gender learning environment but they do have both genders work together on projects and other activities. So far my daughter has thrived in this environment and she is doing amazing. The person complaining about the Pto couldn't be further from the truth. Maybe she had a bad experience with someone but everyone I have dealt with has always been nice.

So Happy here at Franklin! with only a few more weeks left before end of year, I have to say it was a SUCCESS! Yes there were hiccups at the beginning:Uniforms, Car Line But it was all resolved Fairly Quickly. The Administration is amazing, they have a great leader (Dr. Sandberg) whom leads by example. He was the first one out there everyday in the heat and rain until the car line situation was resolved and to date you can still occasionally see him out there in the mornings helping. The PTO on hand has been great, as a volunteer at the school, I see all the hard work they have put in. The sad thing is that they have had such little assistance from a majority of the parents from school. In a school of more than 1300 students you would expect a lot more assistance and participation, especially since it is a charter school and you have mandatory volunteer hours to secure your spot for next year. The negative comments posted tend to come from those parents whom lack participation within the school. With that being said, Kuddos to an amazing Administration, School & PTO!!! For those feeling negatively about Franklin, Be Happy and good riddance.

We were excited to have our children attend this school, at first. The uniform debacle, lack of communication regarding the excessive delay, really left a bad taste. There is no backup release system. What takes the cake is that the PTO is a "clique" of parents that in essence "bully" parents to be involved. After attending a few PTO meetings, they are a bunch of "know-it-alls" (that didn't know a single thing). It's scary to think that these "parents" are truly running the school into the ground with no real professional experience. I have seen PTO's chase parents from wanting to have their kids at the school, it is what is going on at this school. If you read the other reviews, they all talk about the PTO- wonder why? They are bullies, egotistical and only care about getting "kudos".Most parents work a lot of hours and don't have the chance to be involved. There are other schools, like Renaissance Charter, a few blocks away that cleaned up their overbearing PTO to make it a much better school-run school! Good riddance, our kids will NOT be at this school any more!

One of my best decisions made for my son. This school and the entire staff are amazing! All my questions and concerns are always answered. Franklin Academy makes learning fun and interesting for their students. My son loves this school and so do I.

So blessed to have made such a wise choice as a family. Coming from a montessori school, where I was very much involved, I was hesitant in the decision. We stepped in to the Campus Tour and I cringed at the thought of not being able to volunteer all the time. Was I wrong, the staff is amazing, the Admins are exceptional, Teachers are great, Dr. Sandberg, Mrs. Le Rose and Mr. Delgado simply wonderful. The PTO what a group of amazing ladies, they are always there planning, helping, supporting.You would never imagine this is a brand new school. Yes there were a few hiccups at the beginning, its NEW to everyone and all adjusted promptly. It is wonderful to be part of a school that really sees the value of family and family life. We are bombarded now with after school activities instead of tons of homework. We are able to sit and enjoy family dinners without arguing if homework was completed etc. I have to argue with them to get off of study island and think central. Thank You Franklin Academy Cooper City for such an amazing Charter School, looking forward to many more happy years here!

Franklin continues to impress. Horrible weather led to a tornado warning. After locking down the school, the principal sent our various messages through social media and texting to inform us. He even allowed us parents to come in and take cover. My kids love it there and our family is very happy.

We moved last year so our choice in leaving our A rated school was to enroll our children in the new zoned school (now B rated) or try Franklin Academy. We gave Franklin the benefit of the doubt and boy, what a great choice! Everyday, I can see the difference in their learning even though I thought their first school was doing a great job. Yes, they teach the standards, but not in an FCAT only focused manner. The administration is amazing in responding to anything, and both my son's teachers are very open in both responses and suggestions. We feel very blessed to be part of this school and we know that we made the better choice now 20/20 hind sight.

I love the school. My son's teacher is the best. The principal is always available to speak to you. Everybody in tbe school is very pleasant and helpful. I am glad my son is going to such a wonderful school.

LOVE FACC! Parents have to be involved if you want your child to suceed. I have a full time job but I just make it happen! almost done with my hours car pool line 6:50am - 7:30am they have many choices. The tearcher is always in communication and I get daily updates on my daughters grade through powershool. The PTO is doing a fantastic job even establishing their own facebook page for communication. Keep up the excellent work!

Wait until the school gets organized...probably a year or so. All the kids in our neighborhood that were in Franklin Cooper City, withdrew by week 8 for various reasons, from long car lines, bad teachers, no homework policy which sets your children up to fail, the uniform debacle, bullying, etc. All of us placed our children where they were last year or into new schools. It was the worst 5 to 8 weeks all of us experienced at any school. I hope it gets better, I really liked the Principal and most of the staff... I wish them luck.

I went to the school to volunteer today. While I was checking in, i asked the front desk woman (they are awesome!) about something regarding the gifted teacher... they called her and I had a short meeting right there (in a quiet room, and it was short because I was late ...). After my volunteers hours, I was checking out and I asked again about something about the bus... 5 minutes later, I was talking with Mrs Delgado, principal's assistant. While I was going to my car I received an email with gifted's teacher answer to my questions (regarding some process that my kid's old school started last year)... And this is not the first time that I showed up and had a meeting with the Assistant Principal, Principal, Spanish teacher, even some teachers that are available, of course... and EVERY teacher answer my emails in THE SAME DAY... They are great, since the front desk, the cafeteria people, everyone... if you need help or have questions and you ask in the proper time (NOT THE CAR LINE) you are going to have your answer!

I love this school..I came from a new charter school last year so I knew there would be bumps in the road.Parents have to realize that nothing is perfect at first. Everything is running much smoother now..Yes the uniform situation was a bit of a disaster hopefully next year it will be better.. This school has been very challenging which I love. My sons teacher is awesome. I am so happy I made the switch.

POORLY ORGANIZED SCHOOL with NO SUPPLIES & POOR QUALITY uniforms! The "online" uniform company is rumored to be owned by the school. It does not return emails, or phone calls and has no transparency. Parents are forced to volunteer required "service hours" for the uniform company. This seems like it should be against the law. After 9 weeks, the teachers know NOTHING about the background of the students. They still do NOT have the Student Folios. The school is missing supplies and books so they ask the parents to supply them with printer paper etc. They have a unique way of dismissing the students at the end of the day using a barcode scanner. The system is STILL NOT WORKING from August 19th. Parents have waited up to 2.5 HOURS to pick up their children at the end of the day. Power goes out on a regular basis in south Florida and they have no alternative way to dimiss the students in the event the scanner is not working! They will not give you your own child unless you wait in the REDICULOUS car line that does NOT move! The school Vice principle (De La Rose), nurse and counselor are rude and the Principal does not care. This school is currently s a SAD DISASTER...

I was hesitant at first to send our children to a brand new charter school, but we took the chance. We are so happy with the school. They children enjoy it as well, and are both learning. The first few days were a bit frazzling for everyone, but the school so far is amazing. Very happy with teachers, and staff.
