I am a staff member at this school. It is a pleasure to work here. The Teacher's and Staff are all wonderful. The Students are well behaved and actually enjoy learning and participating in extracurricular activities.

Edgewood is going downhill fast. Most of the teachers I have right now are pretty bad. The physics teachers class average is about a 70, with those people working hard. Other teachers just use other teachers work from other schools and hand it out mindlessly. Guidance is no help for students trying to survive these classes. Guidance brushes off students and parents often. If I could go back and time and never go to edgewood, I definitely would! I am a well rounded student: mostly A’s with one B, sports, clubs, etc. Trying my hardest, I am barely getting through. Me, as well as most other students I know at edgewood are totally burnt out, and have bad mental health due to extreme stress. The school brushes this off and just tells us to time manage better or to find a tutor, as if we have the time. The student body is a mess overall. Half the students are too socially awkward to have a conversation, unlike other schools where you can make lots of friends and find your own friend group. I have had to go online to FLVS for multiple classes due to terrible teaching, which is not uncommon at edgewood! Going to school every day is a dread and struggle, I speak for lots of my peers as well.

I’m a junior and considering switching schools for my senior year, to at least have one year of comfort before college.

(2/2) (Please make sure to read the comment before this one first.) This only applies to specific people, as I would like to say again. They are overall great people. After that, I would like to talk about something more positive. The leadership at this school is incredible. We have a great principal who does so much for us. This review is to help you, so when I say that your child may have learning disabilities, please don't go to Edgewood. I support everyone with equal respect, whether of their sexuality, race or disability. However, Edgewood won't stop for a student, rather kick them out. I hope no one will have to ever go through this, however it happens pretty often. Other students don't help if you are gay, biesexual or lesbian. I know this because this is the biggest problem at Edgewood. We have a decently large population of students who are these sexuallitys, and they will get killed over it. I myself would like to share this. I hang out with a bunch of people who are of these sexuallitys. I love each of them with all my heart and being a male, hanging out in this group, I have been called gay, a lot. And I mean a lot. The truth is, I only support these sexuallitys. I choose to mainly write this review because of this. If you go to Edgewood, you know me. I could be referred to as popular, although I don't love this title. There has been a lot of peer pressure on me to join the pop kids, not "gay", which is how they refer to them. No way, do I ever want anyone to feel this. Another this is moral. Edgewood has very very low school spirit. If you like sports, go to any school you want. Just make sure that the school name isn't Edgewood. They are very bad mostly and there is no football, baseball, wrestling or softball. But Edgewood is a great school for those who love learning, are mentally advanced, want a challenge, and can get work done. Edgewood is way better than Westshore, for everyone wanting to choose between the two. I love this school, and me personally am doing very well with it. Please read this with an open mind. This is the complete truth from a current student and someone on the inside. If you are a parent, be careful with your decision if your child is given a spot at Edgewood. If you are a kid like me, I see you, and know what's best for your future.

I am really impressed with Edgewood. I have 2 children there. They are turning out into fine human beings. Their grades are amazing as well. The quality of the teachers is excellent . The principal is fantastic. I am sure my children are getting better education than they would in private school!

I have one child who has just graduated from Edgewood and two who are still attending. I have been delighted with the education that all my children have (and are still) benefiting from. The teachers are committed to excellence and really seem to care about their students. The number of kids that are getting into Ivy League (or equivalent) schools is impressive. If you are interested in sending your child to a school that focuses on academics and has high standards - this is it! Keep up the good work Edgewood!

I am a former student. I remember when I would meet other kids from other schools... They would ask me what school I went to. When my response was "Edgewood," I would always expect a chuckle out of them. People all around Brevard County called Egdewood "the nerd school." Now, as a former Edgewood student/current college student, I laugh at the people who laughed at me. Sure, we are kind of nerdy, but because we are smart? I'm not quite sure how that is something to laugh or poke fun at. Weren't #1 in sports, but we were were the ones who got Merritt Island on the list of the top 50 schools in the nation. The NATION. Some students left Edgewood complaining that the teachers assigned "too much hard work," but right now, as a college student, I could not be more grateful for all of the college prep Edgewood provided me. Too much work? Too hard? Welcome to the real world, which, might I add, is not easy! I'm so glad I didn't go to a school that just let me breeze by my classes. I am proud to say that I went to a "nerd school" because compared to the other student bodies that I graduated with, MY class is excelling in colleges all around the nation. Edgewood is a fantastic school!

Edgewood "edged out" Westshore as the best high school in the Brevard County according to US News for 2014 (6th vs 9th in Florida). You can't go wrong with either of them but I'm really glad our daughter will be attending Edgewood in the fall instead of the one she's zoned for as middle school could be quite tough as she's very shy. I'm glad she's an ideal fit for Edgewood.

I loved Edgewood, and I've been there since 7th grade. I am now about to graduate from college and was accepted to Isenberg School of Management at UMass, and I can honestly say that going to Edgewood was an advantage. I currently hold a 3.7 gpa and I owe it all to the extensive preparation and determination of the staff. I breezed though the first two years of college thanks to the coursework we were prepared for. Seriously, if the students and parents would stop complaining about the course load, then take your kid elsewhere because Edgewood prepares you for the REAL WORLD. And when is anything ever easy in the real world?

My daughter has attended Edgewood since the 7th grade and she is getting ready to graduate this year from high school with her AA degree which was fully paid for by the county. She is fully prepared to attend college and Edgewood was instrumental in that preperation. It is NOT for kids that want to have "fun" in highschool and are overly interested in their social life. It is absolutely the school of "nerds" and they revel in it. The most popular children are the best actors in the drama department and the best students, not the cheerleaders or athletes. All of the classes offered at Edgewood are Honors or AP, there are no easy classes. They do not tolerate bad behavior and they do not hesitate to kick out students that can't maintain at least a C average. It is the perfect school for kids that are high achieving, goal oriented, self-motivated, determined and those who aspire to great educational heights. If they want to be the next footbal phenom, this is not the place for them. I am so grateful to the principle (who was my high school literature teacher at MIHS) for developing this school into what it is today, a school that not only wants nerds for students but caters to them.

My daughter is a senior and has attended Edgewood for the last 6 years. This is a school for kids that what to be challenged in a enviorment where other kids are there to learn. It's nice to have her at a school where the other kids and parents have the same values and beliefs.

Edgewood was not a very fun experience. I went there for middle school and there was no way i was going to stay there another 4 years. You are so sheltered and there is no time to socialize or have any fun. They hardly have any sports and the what they do have arent very good. I have to admit though that the drama department is pretty amazing and a lot of fun. Other than that, school is boring. No school spirit and no homecoming events (other than the dance). I am now a Junior at Merritt Island High and the decision to change schools was the best one i have ever made. At MIHS, the variety of classes are huge and the teachers are a lot nicer and dont stress you out so much. The school is a lot of fun and i absolutly LOVE going to school. If you want your child sheltered from the real world and looked at as a "Nerd" by the rest of the community, then Edgewood is the perfect place. But dont be fooled, its not as great of a school as others make it out to be. I am proud to say that i will be a MIHS graduate instead of a EJSHS one. Hope this was helpful and GO MUSTANGS!!

Edgewood is an accelerated academic college prep school. The curriculum is challenging. Recently the school was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School and it was also recognized as a National Senior Project Certified School. Outstanding administrative leadership, teaching staff and community.

It is a privilege to have my three children attend Edgewood. They are tackling a rigorous academic schedule, but they are learning how to function independently, challenge themselves, and lead others. They will all be well-prepared for their futures, which include a 4 year college degree. They have many opportunities to participate in sports and other extracurricular activities and have many lots of friends who have similar goals for their futures. I am so grateful to have a school like this available to my children.
