This school does not take discipline or behavior seriously. Children are making s3xual noises and gestures, cursing freely including the n word, the busses are literally a nightmare for behavior.

My children have been hit, choked, and taught VERY interesting things.

I’m done this year.

worst school in the country. When I grow up here. Teachers would cuss at you. The education is horrible. My recommendations go to magnet school

So far so good. My son is in first grade and has had excellent teachers to date and it seems to be a great environment for learning and growing.

Mixed. My son has been in tropical elementary for 3 years some teachers were very good others not so much. The school leadership keeps changing, 3 principles in 3 years doesn't not show good continuity of leadership

I have 4 children that attend this school with varying degrees of abilities ( Autism, ADHD, typical). This school and it's teachers are nothing short of amazing. They have gone above and beyond for each of my children.

I have 3 children in this school and they love it. One horror roll and 2 with IEPs all of them fit in and are treated kindly . I have nothing negative to say about this school we all are very thankful for tropical.

I feel there is a diverse group of students, parents, teachers and staff. I have had good teachers and bad. If you complain, the principal and assistant principal treat parents like kids. I am an adult and do not want to be treated like I am attending school, rather like I am a partner in what goes on. It is my taxes dollars that help fund the school. They have a very one way attitude, their way. I still like the school, because I as an adult can deal with this, and will not let this get in my way of doing what is right for my child. I do believe their is favoritism, between staff, teachers, teachers children who attend. Same kids get to do the same things all the time. The school is a little run down, but I am not sure who is to blame, the current school staff, or the county office. They also don't let parents visit for lunch unless they sit outside, while it sounds ''quaint" it is hot and sweaty for those who are professionals who are dressed up and have to return to work. Overall it is average at best, but the school I loved - they closed down, so I am stuck with this for now.

Neutral because there some teachers and staff that emulate these qualities, and then there are those who are nothing but big kids themselves. Just because you teach, doesn't mean you are good at it. There are good and bad in many different jobs, no exception here, some of the staff and teachers leave much to be desired.

We have been at tropical for 6 years. Yes there's the ability to REQUEST a teacher but there is never a guarantee. The teachers we have had were ALL wonderful, never a bad experience. The principal is caring and in our experience helped us be an out of area student. I have volunteered there for years and I'm a working parent, with a highly demanding job, but you will Always be more informed and feel More embedded in what's going on if you can spare time to be involved. School and your experience is what you put into it. You can't choose a place and expect the teachers and administration to fix what you didn't accomplish in reference to discipline and learning. This school was wonderful and we are sad to leave it but both of our children did wonderful there and they received the praise they deserved for their hard work!! I would recommend anyone to this school!

This school is very overrated! We moved to this school zone because we were told it was the best. We are very disappointed. While we had an excellent teacher, the administration staff is very condescending and rude! They try and make it your fault when they didn't follow through. Unprofessional. If you have a child who has special needs you are bringing the test scores of the school down and are treated like 2nd class citizens. We are trying to find a different school. Unless the administration can get off their negative high horses this school will always be terrible!

Well this is our first year at this school My.kids last school was suntree and we didn't like it at all so I can't say enough about this school the teachers are great and my boys went from hating going to school to loving it :) I like how involved the other parents are and the staff are :) no complaints so fair about anything !

Tropical has long been a vastly overrated educational institution. The neighborhood is a blend of 90% elitist families and 10% regular folks. More parents hang out around this school during daytime hours than probably any other in the county with Suntree the possible exception -- they don't work for a living. The focus is more on test scores than improving conditions within and around the classrooms. Kids aren't taught proper methods of communication with their peers, or how to blend in a melting pot society. It's the closest thing to a prep school mentality on taxpayer dime. Exclusivity without delivering quality education. Nasty, snobbish attitudes abound from the parents, staff, and teachers. It reflects in the student population. This is the "me, me, me" self-entitlement, princes and princesses school if you're looking for one. Search elsewhere to educate your children in the real world and arm them with broad people skills.

since the new principal came this year things have drastically went downhill. The office staff that has been here for years retired just about a month ago. The new office staff is completely rude very unprofessional. The teachers at the school, for the most part, are wonderful. Unfortunately most of the administration only care about receiving federal money. Because of that they are quick to label a child with something like a ADHD. I know several parents that are pulling their children out of school come January so they can homeschool their kids... It's the only way there will be no child left behind. I would highly recommend pulling your children out of school anyway... Simply due to the fact that this new Common Core that's being pushed by our federal government is a joke.

Horrible horrible school. Run down, dirty cafeteria and the 2nd grade teachers are burnt out! The office staff is rude and the principals are more interested in what they are wearing than what the kids are doing. So much bullying going on! So sad. Very overworked teachers and not much caring on the administrative part. Terrible speech program. How this school is rated a 10 is beyound me.

I attended Tropical from the time I was in Kindergarten to 6th grade and I can honestly say that the only thing I can really have a negative comment on is the students. The teachers themselves are amazing and will in a heartbeat take care of the students. Now I have no idea why any of the people would have a negative comment on the faculty, I grew up with the office staff and in my experience they are amazing people, they were nothing but KIND to the people who deserved it and to the students, and they have PLENTY of after school activities, that take place in Before-and-after school care, such as cheerleading spanish, karate, lego club, patrols, book bash, ect. The principal was amazing and absolutely kind-hearted. Like I said this school is amazing.

I am a grandparent of a child that attends Tropical elementary and I am very pleased with the quality of education my grandson is receiving. Great school, great principal all around positive learning environment.
