They more concerned about their views can't even get their buses to get the kids on time call you and ask you why your kids missing school but buses don't never show and teachers go on months and months of vacation smh my kids didn't start hating school until they went to this one.

I am so grateful for the entire staff that has helped my son in the year he’s been at Thompson. He has gone from almost non-verbal to talking almost non-stop and his comprehension and socio-emotional behaviors have also undergone an incredible improvement. From the teachers, to the therapist, to the principal… we have had great communication with all.

Besides my kids liking their teachers, that is the only thing to like about this school. The school day is extremely short. They need to re-evaluate the length of the school day. Maybe the students would get a better education. Homework is a joke. They get very little, if any, and it's not on topic of helping the kids. The longest it has ever taken one of my kids to do their homework is 10 mins. There is a HUGE lack of communication all around from the teachers, from events being held, to any general information at all. They love to give you a list of things needed for a specific project and give you a few days, if that, to get the said supplies. The start of the year you are buying everything possible for your kid for the school year. It makes you question are you buying for your child or for everyone else's child. Any events held, that clearly take some planning, you are told about a week before; again, if you are lucky. The biggest issue is the iready testing. The kids are being taught to pass a test. The teacher's focus is to pass the test. The focus should be exceeding the standard of any test and there would be no worry if the students are going to pass the test or not. They have my kids paranoid about iready, which by the way is a diagnostic tool, not a state standard test, or even a final exam of any sort; yet are telling students that it is a pass or fail in order to go to the next grade. All you hear from the kids is that they work on iready. My kids "specials" as they are called are a complete joke. One of them has an art class and brings home next to nothing. It is a free-for-all for students to color, draw, etc. with no instruction. Music class seems to have some structure. Gym class is always turned into some educational thing that has nothing to do with Gym class at all. This is where they cover anti-bullying, at one point sex trafficking, and other related materials. It is a complete joke, let alone your young child coming home with a ton of questions because they should never of been taught about some of that stuff. How hard is it to teach stranger danger and even more so, how about an actual Gym class? Finishing this year and we never met the teachers, never been inside the school, never had an in-person conference, and they all blame COVID for every little thing. Coming from a highly rated school and coming to a poorly rated school hurt my children's education greatly in more ways than one. One year here was enough, we are moving them.

If I could give this school negative stars I would. They "misplaced" my daughter the first day of school, and "misplaced" my son the following summer. When discussing these occurrences with the staff, they were rude both times. The following day when picking my son up from school, the principal was very apologetic, and informed me that she would personally escort my son to his destination onward; however, more needed to be done. I scheduled a conference with the school board and the principal to discuss the severity of the occurrences, and it appeared to have bothered the principal as she no longer escorted my child after the conference.

In addition, they placed my child in an SLD environment without my consent or any recommendations from them to do so. I later learned that the schools receive funding for children in these classes, hence the school's inclination to increase the number of students in this environment.

As a result of these issues, my children no longer attend Thompson

My son receives a packet each week to complete by Friday. Usually one page of math and reading is expected to be completed a night.

My son has progressed steadily through his two years at this school. The school is three years old and is still getting their PTA established, etc but I try to be as involved in his school activities as possible which helps me know what's going on. Both years, his teachers have been amazing. They cater to his strengths as much as possible and have done an exceptional job of improving areas of weakness.

My daughter has been repeatedly bullied at this school. I instructed her to let a teacher/lunch attendant know immediately. She said she has been told more than once to "go sit down" loudly and embarrassingly. It's not effective to not even let a kid tell you there's a problem...they don't want to hear it at this school.

I let my daughter's teacher know from day one that she has an attention deficit disorder and that I wanted to know immediately if there were any issues I needed to address. He frequently let a week or more go on with no communication regarding an issue that would progressively get worse during that time until he would finally let me know. Hard to correct behavior that happened on Monday if you don't know until the following week...

Teachers are absent regularly, which disrupts the classroom agenda and classwork goals. There seems to be no imperative from the top down that teachers provide regular communication to parents regarding academic performance or behavior. These should be bench-marked standards and they are not.

My daughter has tried to let teachers/assistants know she was being bullied, only to be told to go away or go sit down. My daughter is not learning that anyone cares about her or showing her respect.

Some are some are not. My experience with some of the Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers has been positive, while 2nd and 3rd grade has largely been negative.

Teachers above 1st grade largely don't give homework. My daughters 3rd grade teacher said she doesn't have appropriate material to send home that would even prepare her for the FSA tests they HAVE to take!

Only giving this 2 stars because while our experience with a couple individual Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers has been positive, other than that this school has been awful.

For example, my daughter is in 3rd grade and required to take both the math & reading FSA standardized tests required to move on to 4th. Her teacher literally told me he doesn't send home homework because the workbooks he has are too easy and won't prepare my child for the test. Isn't it the teacher's/school's job to provide appropriate materials for learning in order to prepare the kids for tests they HAVE to take?!

Also don't look to this school to provide ANY assistance with regards to bullying. My daughter has literally been shouted at to "go sit down" in the lunchroom when she tried to do what is the right thing and let a lunch attendant/teacher know that she was being picked on. Then she comes home to me crying that not only was she picked on, but also humiliated and told to go sit down.

We are relocating after this school year and it couldn't happen soon enough!
