We have had a wonderful experience at DDCES! Our daughters have received not only amazing academics at the school, but also the opportunity to belong to a close-knit community made up of educators who truly care, an administrative staff that is always ready to help, and families who share the same goals for their students. Parents are encouraged to be active participants in all school activities, and the kids all enjoy being able to see their mom or dad volunteering at any given time. I would definitely recommend DDCES to families looking to challenge their students, and prepare them to become global citizens.

I couldnt be more grateful for the incredible support my boys have received at DDCES. The teachers and staff truly go above and beyond to make every child feel seen, encouraged, and inspired to do their best. From the classroom environment to the way they communicate with families, everything reflects genuine care and dedication. Im so proud to be part of a school community that values both academic excellence and kindness. My sons are thriving here, and as a parent, that means everything.

I love DDCES. I have been part of the school since the day they opened and I can only say that every year it gets better. My daughter is fluent in both languages and she is able to read, write and speak in both languages. All Admin, Teachers and Staff members are so caring about every child at school. I enjoy very much all the cultural events the school has and so does my daughter. We feel blessed to be part of the DDCES family.

The teachers are extremely helpful with both parents and students. Theyre always there for any questions I may have. I feel that my daughter has not only received a well balanced academic education, but also great life skills that will stick with her. Q

DDCES has been part of our family for several years now. It is a second home for my children. The school has a great preschool program that truly prepared my child for kindergarten. All of the teachers we have had go above and beyond for their students. The administration knows every child that attends the school and truly cares for each one of them. I am beyond blessed that we have our children at this school.

DDCES is an amazing institution. Their world language program is top notch and the extra-curricular activities and opportunities available to the students really help set this school apart. The leadership is really in tune to the pulse of the school and the teachers and staff are truly amazing. As a parent who has had my children in private and traditional public schools, I can honestly say that DDCES has well exceeded my expectations.

Starting with Head of School, Principal, Teachers, and staff are fully committed to the excellence of the students. The dual language curriculum seems very hard at first but once students get used to it, they enjoy the multi cultural environment and learn twice as much as a regular school.
Parent involvement is mandatory in the school, but it makes a great difference to the activities and events for the students.
They have a Fair and Balanced Curriculum including civic values for the student to grow and be the Global Citizens they encourage students to be.
We have our three kids attending DDCES and cannot think of one reason to have them in another school. The learning environment, technology used in classrooms, and professionalism of the faculty makes this school be the "school of the future" and a great model for every educational facility.
Not for nothing there is a waiting list to get admitted and a lottery system has to be implemented due to all the parents that want their children attending this school.
it is the best decision for our kids, and we are very grateful for the dedication for educating and taking care of our children.

Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School is one of the best schools. Since the moment I entered the school to tour it, I felt the amazing positive energy and encouraging drive towards the education of our children. Three years later they have only excelled all my expectations. Always thriving for best and always putting the students education and safety first. Highly recommend this school as a future home for anyone childs education.

this school is full of spoiled kids and the school doesnt really know what to do with that. this may not be relating to anything but this year they are spending $20,000 on the 5th grade graduation. they are fundraising etc. there are people starving and so many causes that could use that money but we are spending it on something that should be expected of a 5th grader (going to 6th grade.) this teaches such a strange priority for life. i guess thats how the world is though so whatever.

listening to the principle talk is insane. the principle talks to students and parents in the tone of voice your aunt would talk to you when you were a baby. its all in a sing song voice and with phrasing that insults your intelligence. i honestly am surprised every time she opens her mouth. its hilarious. and many of the teachers have adopted this method of speech as well.
Posted: March 26, 2020
i dont really know much about this.
Posted: March 26, 2020
they seem to not like bullying. my son was bullied for years but i dont think the teachers knew. he didnt say anything. the kids at this school are notoriously spoiled. even kids at other schools know the reputation.
Posted: March 26, 2020
the downtown doral theory of homework is to assign hours of busy work. there is no brain power or creativity required to do any of it. it just takes time.
Posted: March 26, 2020
the teachers are hamstrung by the fsa teaching requirements and the rigid language curriculum. its just a bunch of people teaching stuff that could be in a 10 page pamphlet.
Posted: March 26, 2020
my kid isnt learning much. especially in math where i think the teachers are supremely under qualified. but i guess this school looks good on paper and thats all that matters. so ok.

Once you have an opportunity to compare it with other schools, you realize what a sham this school is. First of all, children are not exposed to a balanced in-depth curriculum. Children are taught Reading & Math with one teacher then switched to a different classroom teacher for the other half of the day to learn a language leaving them without a lot to be learned without time. They offer a Science lab for students but the class only has 1 day a month for less than hour in their schedule to attend Science lab.
Learning time is compromised too often for activities that are just "for show" and to advance an image rather than educational.
Education time is interrupted constantly by visitors that are allowed to enter in masses monthly to tour the school, or for investment opportunities. All of this puts children's safety at risk as well.
Children are humiliated & constantly harassed for not wearing the correct uniform.
Lunch time is a disaster. Students are not allowed to talk during their lunch. They have administration screaming on a microphone for them to eat quietly.
They have student of the month assemblies each month where the same students every year receive recognition.
Incidents happen and the administration take all measures necessary to deny any facts to their parents.
Cafeteria harasses children who have run out of funds for lunch. They deny lunch at times and reprimand them for not having money in their accounts.
Parents are asked for money all the time. They are asked to pay monthly dues to room parents in order to fund teacher presents, presents for the administration, materials, classroom projects, decorations & costumes for needless activities.
There is a HUGE issue with teacher retainment. They overwork their teachers. They are forced to stay after hours (at times until late evening hours past 8:00pm) for the unnecessary events they have several times a month, have staff meetings that last well after the contractual hours, weekend events, etc. Teacher burn out, dissatisfaction, causes NUMEROUS to leave midyear.
Many of the teachers do not have the proper certifications to begin with. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Do your research.

Very good, coming from a school system in California, I have seen the great improvement my daughters had in terms of breath and depth of knowledge with a lot cultural enrichment activities. Homework can be hard at beginning, but kids get good at it with the right parent involvement

Not all that glows is gold. On the outside this school seems like a dream. Truth is that real long time learning is sacrificed due to the double language curriculum. They have to rush in teaching in order to fit it all in. This makes for temporary learning vs long time knowledge retention. The constant events that take place every month (often 2 or more a month) take away from learning and create stress. Teachers seem overworked, tense, and tired. High levels of teacher turnover. Security is compromised by allowing anyone in through the doors during arrivals and dismissals vs dismissing students outside.

Very prominent at this school especially amongst the girls.
Posted: October 3, 2018
Posted: October 3, 2018

excessive homework.
The double language makes the school rush over the English Agenda, from 8:30-12:00 in order to be able to provide the SPA/Portuguese Agenda from 1:00-4:00. Hence, lots of homework to do at home. Lots of pressure over SAT scores. Very strict with uniforms. No breaks o recesses. Intervention classes for those that need reinforcement are giving during the music, or PE hours.

I believe that the school is, but I am not sure about the effectiveness of the support for the potential wide spectrum of learning differences that pk and elementary school kids can present.

This is an A+ school.
My experience with preK at DDCES has been great.
There have been situations that I agreed with some parents complaints, and I believe that in most cases the school addressed properly the issues.
In conclusion, I can say from my personal experience ( my daughter has studied in 2 other schools), that the school has been really supportive in every aspect I needed over the past 2 years and that I definitely recommend this school to all friends.

DDCES is a school where students are given the opportunity to shine. They have various activities that students can participate in. The academics are advance for their age but prepare them well for the upcoming grade. My experience with the teachers have been amazing they are helpful and hardworking. God bless them

I am very happy with the school. Teachers are really open to discuss any subject with the parents. Staff is very helpful and attentive.

Excessive home work, students are all day at the school without free time to relax for few minutes. no time for PE, just one time per week, sometimes not.
No space at the school for PE or any sport, Kids have PE at the park front to the school, very insecured.
For a elementary school, kids need exercise and time to be kids.
Some rules are very illegal, parents don't know about.
School has not an accredited sociologist and doesn't identify when kids are stressful or suffering bulling at the school.
Games, festivals and extra curriculum are focused on reminding all the time the importance of get the best grades, pushing them until they get stressed at this short age. If your child does not reach the grades expected by the school, expect a very strong recommendation from the principal to change your child to another school, that will lower the overall average, do not expect any way to help your child.

Lack of diversity (venezuelans, Brazilians, Spain, others)
Lack of antibully moral values classes ( only a week dedicated to this with nonsense activities that do not add value to the kids to learn on how to defend themeselves, how to solve conflict, how to stand up for others, the importence of being nice and respectful to each other)
Personel seems polite and friendly with the parents but very hostile, no pedagogic with the kids. Lots of screaming and disorginezation in common areas. Cafeteria, restrooms.
Directors not open to positive reinforcement from parents.
Lots of everyday homework a very rushed academic agenda that only teaches to pass the exams and have good school ratings. Kids do not have time to assimilate what was tought. They stay at school until four and need to come home to do more homework! There is no time for kids to have extracurricular activities or quality family time.
Lots of unnecesary activities that do not add value to the kids or parents.
Intervation classes offered for reading and portugugese but not available for math. Intervention is giving during the time that kids have PE or Music class, taking out the relaxing , fun, and necessary activities for the kids overall wellbeing.
It is all decorated to feel like a happy environment but it is indeed very stressful for teachers, parents, and therefore for kids.

The bad reviews that I see here are not focused on the school performance. Kids don't appear in classroom pictures and parents are competitive is not a measurement of the school performance. The school cannot control how parents behave. Yes, they should not promote differences and have favoritism. Asking for additional supplies that your child will benefit from is voluntary and shouldn't be an issue. I love this schools my kids are happy and excelling. That's what is important. Teachers are amazing, caring and dedicated. Administration and personnel are nice and polite. Overall a positive environment. I had met amazing people here not everyone is the same. The no guarantee of a spot in kinder is something that is under the preschool contract and shouldn't be a surprise.
I do think there's lack of diversity and some favoritism.

My child is in preschool. I don't agree with the way preschool is excluded from the school activities in performance. When asked why, they say preschool is separate from the elementary. We are paying a monthly tuition and it seems rather unfair how they treat preschool. Also $495 registration fee is paid and teacher are asking for supplies to donate. It is ridiculous, books supplies etc. are included in that registration fee. On the other hand, there is a great amount of competition amongst the parents. When there is a school event and the parents who are selected to volunteer are taking pictures to share on the classroom chat or the shutterfly that has been created for the classroom , they only take pictures of their children and certain children that they are friends with the parents. It is not like the child is not allowed to be photographed. It is known what child has a signed form by parent not allowing to be photographed. Teachers should pick a room parents who is able to include all children in pictures and events for the parents that are not able to assist. It seems like there is too much favorism.

Sadly this school is all about money in the preschool area. Also their lottery is a joke. You don't get a number . What school does that. Their is favoritism in all aspects. Their is a lottery from prek 4 to kinder but no lottery from prek 3 to prek 4. Of course not, they want your monthly tuition. No siblings in elementary, no guarantees to have a spot in kinder. Still trying to find a school that does this. Great curriculum, but the things that happen at this school just not acceptable. No diversity. We are in America, not in Venezuela or a Venezuelan school. Reading other reviews I see I am not the only one with bad experiences and similar. The other reviews sums it up.

DDCES is a school that offers a challenging and comprehensive curriculum that will absolutely prepare children for a productive future. The administrative team is second to none. Homework is not an issue if you desire success for our kids.

There is favoritism, the rules with good for some and not for others. The amount of homework is too much, I think it's because they do not have time to give all the subject in class (English & Spanish).
