This school doesnt support nor teach critical thinking and problem solving. Sweeps physical mental and emotional bully under the rug to keep funding high. Principle now ceo has a child there (conflict of interest) Spanish and black students are made fun of for their race and culture . Administration acts aloof to issues, teachers over site any issue that is not an academic. Main focus is testing scores not the environment and safety of the students.

Seminole Science Charter School is an excellent experience, allowing their students of different circumstances to thrive in its engaging environment. The staff are incredibly well-trained in unique situations, and ensures that every student feels safe in all periods of times. Regarding academics, the professors follow the curriculum thoroughly, incorporating interactive activities that assist in supplementing its students as well. There are also a wide range of extracurricular activities that includes nearly every interest, including active participation from multiple professors trained in that subject. Additionally, all students with differing ability levels are carefully considered, having tutoring for any struggling individuals, and including an advanced curriculum for highly advanced individuals. The staff further ensures that any variation of violence or bullying is punished accordingly and is not tolerated to any extent. Therefore, as a current student as of 2025, this charter school is one of the best opportunities you can follow for all grades kindergarten to eighth grade.

Wishing Seminole Science Charter School even more success as my daughters move into their high school years. Thank you for all that you do! Go Stingrays!!

SSCS is a small school where everyone knows you and your children. No school is perfect, but we have been very happy here. My kids' favorite subjects are math and STEM, which is due in large part to the ability of the teachers to make an academically rigorous environment fun. The volume of homework in Kindergarten was excessive, but this has improved as my kids have advanced in grade level. We have been pleased with interventions needed for behavioral issues. I appreciate the diversity of the student population and have been happy to meet many parents who also work in STEM professions. My main concerns are that the building has issues (plumbing, etc.) and I wish there were more green space outside.

Good amount of homework, fun projects and not too much for my son.
Posted: July 9, 2020
We have loved our sons teachers and the school staff have been helpful whenever we need anything.
Posted: July 9, 2020
Kindness and respect are taught and expected. And kids and teachers seem respectful and encouraging to cultures.

We have not had issues with school administration and have been helpful when we needed things or asked questions.

Excellent experiences overall and staff are encouraging. My son loves it and has good friends who work together on projects and try to get the best grades they can get.
Posted: July 7, 2020
They assign way more homework than what should be reasonable for kindergarten and provide very little support
Posted: July 7, 2020
My son was singled out for his autism and ADHD, when he faced constant nitpicking from multiple teachers
Posted: July 7, 2020
This school promotes silencing and the administration are bullies
Posted: July 7, 2020
The principal called the police on my 5 year old son because he didn't want to come in from the play ground
Posted: July 7, 2020
My son is autistic and when he didn't want to come inside from the playground they shut him in an office, blocked the door, and just stood there staring at him wondering why he was getting upset.
Posted: July 7, 2020
The administration are bullies themselves and promote a toxic environment
Posted: July 7, 2020
Awful, my son was traumatized and I'm so glad we left
Posted: May 10, 2020
A nightmare. I would never recommend sending a child here. They called the cops on my son and wanted him taken to the truancy center because he didn't want to come inside from the playground. He was only 5. They didn't tell me they were calling the police or anything.
Posted: May 10, 2020
Little to no direction or encouragement. There is no attempt at meeting your child's individual needs
Posted: May 10, 2020
They lack a basic sense of respect for your child being an individual
Posted: May 10, 2020
They have no respect for children with disabilities and wanted my son put on Adderall even though it wasn't doctor recommended.

Don't get fooled by the appearance of the school. Do your research and talk to parents who actually have experience and want the best balance education for their child and not robots who just follow everything they are told to do.

I highly recommend Seminole Science Charter School! All of the teachers are so kind to each child, truly encouraging each to their strengths. The school is true to the Charter practice. Both of my children have thrived under the direction of teachers who have taught here at Seminole Science Charter School. My children LOVE to attend and learn. I am confident that this school has set a solid foundation for their learning path and that they have developed a true love for learning. The school offers Reading, art and Robotics clubs, all of which my children love participating in and have gained an appreciation for each. I am confident we made the BEST choice for our children at Seminole Science Charter School.

Very unpleasant experience with the STEM science project this year. 3rd grade students were asked to do their own projects and told to have "fun" with it. So, that's what we did...or at least thought we should do. Because this project was way too advanced for a 3rd grader, parents had to step in do the bulk of the work. One of the requirements was providing 3 references and knowing how to properly cite in APA format. Because, of course, 3rd graders who don't even know cursive yet, most definitely know how to cite properly. Then we get a "suggested" diagram of how to do the display board layout and when the kids use their own creativity (this was supposed to be fun, right?) to design their boards, we are told the suggested layout is the "mandatory" layout and that they are being graded like middle schoolers. Then we are told to re-do the display board so they look sterile and boring. Our concerns get elevated to admin and guess what? As usual, they don't care! Ridiculous!

My child is now at another elementary school, in 2nd grade reading at a 4th to 5th grade level, gifted, and happy. I cannot believe that 'leadership' would throw the self esteem (and future if we let them) of a little boy under the bus to fulfill what seems like a political agenda. If you send your child to this school, he or she may get a good education but it won't be because of the schools primary focus but rather because of an incidental byproduct. Lucky you. Don't expect help from administration. That would disrupt their 'system'.

The children at this school are incredible. Not only are they so smart but they are nice and thoughtful for their peers. The children are challenged here enough to their specific needs. They are given plenty of time to do their homework. ( as long as you don't want til last min) The staff members love their kids and stay late after everyone else has gone home, to ensure that all the necessary work for their kids are done.
As for lunch, it is only for the first 10 min they are to be silent so they can eat. This initially started so that they have enough time to eat and plenty of time to chat with their friends. Which in the thirty min lunch period they do. If you are looking for a STEM related school in the Seminole county area, this is the school for you.

The children here WANT to be challenged. They have enough time to have their work complete, as long as they don't wait til last minute. The work they are given isn't "busy work" it helps give them the necessary skills they will need for the following years to come.

It is a small school with lots of enrichment activities. Especially competition clubs are wonderful. They have Project Lead The Way, Science Olympiad, Competition Math, VEX, First Lego League, Model UN, Odyssey of the Mind, drama club, band, honors society, and more. Admins know all the kids and their needs. Principal and two admin ladies are both approachable and easy to communicate. I disagree with comments regarding silent lunches. They have 30 min for eating and only the first 10 min is silent. I am very grateful for that policy as my son finally started to actually eat his lunch since he doesn't have an option of choosing talking over eating. Anyone with kids would agree that most kids don't take more than 10 min to finish their lunches. It is plenty of time to eat and talk. Besides, they get to do a lot of group work with lots of social interactions. They do have accelerated classes. My son is in advanced class and feeling perfectly normal in an environment where there is lots of smart, academic oriented kids who loves studying math and science. at 5th grade, they have been doing 7th grade level math. Their science, social studies, and ELA classes are pretty impressive in terms of the depth of content, the variety of activities, and the quality of student work. Overall great school.
