As a parent , one of the most distressing experiences is witnessing your child being bullied. its painful to see my child get hit and mistreated by a couple of kids all school year and the teachers and the principal shows zero emphathy toward the situation, nobody shows to care about the situation. Unfurtunaly, this school shows the academic success is prioritized over the well-being of children.

York Innovation Academy isnt just a school its a place where students are prepared to make a positive difference in the world. Its a place where learning (and teaching) feels alive, personal, and filled with purpose. I couldnt imagine a better environment for a child to grow academically.

Administration is extremely supportive and collaborative. They are present, approachable, and deeply invested in both the students and staff. Everyone - administration, faculty, and staff - works incredibly hard to create a culture of learning and respect.

I feel incredibly grateful to be part of this amazing school community. Spend any amount of time on campus and you'll see teachers bringing energy, creativity, and dedication to their classrooms and children creating passion projects, producing a morning show, leading an assembly, building robots, creating 3D designs, writing poetry, teaching their peers, and so much more! York is the best school!

Thankful for Yorks Magnet (choice) Program!!
My 3 kids have been at York since it opened 3 years ago. The academic instruction my kids have received is excellent. My kids come home everyday talking non stop about their day and everything they did. I can tell that the teachers are dedicated and passionate about teaching. I have been part of Gallery Walks, Student Led Conferences, Steam Night, International Fair, Concerts, PTSA Activities, etc. There is always something going on at York! I love reading the weekly newsletter that is sent to my email and phone with TONS of information, weekly pictures of whats going on, calendar of events, clubs, etc. This school is also an IB (International Baccalaureate) Candidate school which is focused on developing well-rounded individuals with a broad and balanced education. They even teach Spanish! Administration, teachers and staff have always been welcoming. Teachers communicate often and keep me informed, even with pictures!
Having my kids at York is my choice (thankful for being accepted), Im glad I was able to apply and have them there. I know there is a huge waitlist, so that tells you how great of a school it is.

We couldnt be happier with our experience at this school. As parents of both a sixth grader and a fourth grader, weve seen firsthand how much care and intention goes into every part of the school day. Our children feel supported, inspired, and challenged by their teachers.

The staff goes above and beyond to create a warm, engaging environment where students are encouraged to grow both academically and personally. The communication with parents is clear and consistent, and we always feel welcomed as part of the school community.

Its incredibly comforting to know our kids are not only learning at a high level, but are also truly happy. Were grateful for the amazing team of teachers and staff who make this such a special place. This school has exceeded our expectations in every way.

I have had my kids at York since it opened. (One middle,one elementary) We have had the best experience! Each year the boys have had teachers who have gone above and beyond the expectations of a teacher. Fantastic communication, fun activities, and an overall family environment. We have especially loved the transition to IB - as our kids have taken part in activities that traditional elementary and middle schools don't have. Since we are a K-8 school the kids have an extended time to be able to visit their favorite elementary teachers and middle school has numerous opportunities to volunteer inside and outside of school. Anyone saying this school os less than a 5-star is likely to be an outlier since it is literally impossible to make everyone happy.

I can't say enough good things about this school! Admin, teachers, staff all go above and beyond for my children. My emails are always answered in a timely manner. In fact many times I've had teachers respond in the evening, which really surprises me considering it's not even during their hours of work. It makes a mom heart happy knowing my kids are always excited to go to school, which says a lot about their teachers and the staff! As parents, we should always support and lift those that spend endless hours teaching, nurturing and loving our children. Thank you York for being ALL of this and MORE!

As a family that frequently relocates, weve experienced several schools and this one has been, by far, the best. The teachers, administration, and support staff consistently go above and beyond to support both my children and any questions or concerns Ive had.

I understand how busy everyone is, especially in todays climate where things and policies are constantly changing. Yet, the staff handles it all with grace and does the very best they can given the circumstances. Not once have I felt that my children were unsafe or uncared for.

My kids genuinely enjoy going to school, and Im often amazed by the skills theyre learning and their growing ability to advocate for themselves. The administration is exceptional its clear they truly care about the students and their well-being. I can only imagine how challenging it must be to serve as a principal or assistant principal, managing countless situations while trying to ensure that everyone leaves satisfied.

We feel incredibly fortunate that our children have the opportunity to attend this school, despite some of the negative comments Ive come across on the parent page.

Thank you to the entire staff for your time, dedication, and for making my childrens experience at York truly amazing!

My two kids absolutely love this school! My oldest loves the robotics program and the international travel opportunities. Such amazing and caring teachers! I love not having to worry about my quirky middle school kid being bullied as the administration does NOT tolerate it at all. The teachers and admin have great communication. We love everything about this school!

York is the best school in the district! The only unhappy parents you will find are the same handful that dont want to hold their children accountable to Yorks high academic and behavior expectations. I am so proud we CHOOSE to send our sons to York!

Both of my daughters have attended York since it opened in 2022 and we absolutely love it! The teachers have been great in supporting my youngest as she struggled some academically. We also love all the additional activities such as FCA, steam nights, international festivals and field trips. The communication from the school with a weekly newsletter sent right to me both through text and email.

Great school and staff. The biggest issues are when other parents dont want to follow school rules or guidance and make up their own drop off and pick up procesures ( just 1 example of many)
The times i have been inside its alway welcoming clean and the staff has been awesome with me .

Our child has excelled tremendously during their time at York. Communication is great, lots of events that include the entire school. Any issues we have had have been addressed immediately. My child actually is excited to go to school every day. Even in kindergarten they get to experience the STEM lab as well as start Spanish classes in addition to the basic specials like math, art, and music.

Our daughter has attended York since it opened. Everyone of her teachers have gone above and beyond to make sure she thrives. The administration is always very supportive and takes care of any issues immediately. The school puts on a lot of events that are very inclusive. We are extremely lucky to be a part of York!

My son thrives in this school. The teachers are qualified, communicative, and truly want the kids to succeed. There are a lot of volunteer opportunities in the school and classroom so I can see first hand how the school is run.

As a parent, choosing the right school for your children is one of the most important decisions we can make and I can confidently say that we are so grateful for the experience weve had at York. From day one, we were welcomed into a community that feels more like a family than just a school. The staff truly care, not just about academics, but about the emotional and social well-being of every child. I have two boys that have attended since the school opened.

The classrooms are nurturing, structured, and filled with creativity. My boys feel safe, seen, and encouraged to be themselves while learning at their own pace. The teachers are intentional about fostering curiosity and character, and its clear theyre invested in each childs growth both in and out of the classroom.

What stands out most is the sense of communityparents are involved, communication is strong, and theres a shared mission to support and uplift every student. Its a place where values matter, relationships are prioritized, and children thrive.

The school is the best in the area, both of my kids attend and weve had the best experience ever. Coming from a private school both my kids adjusted well and didnt feel the difference, communication with teachers and staff is great, there is a lot of involvement of parents in school activities.

Both of my children have attended York since it first opened, and weve had a truly positive experience overall. Our teachers over the years have been exceptionalcaring, dedicated, and always focused on helping our kids thrive academically and socially.

The kids have access to a state-of-the-art STEM lab and are issued individual laptops, which really enhances their learning. Every classroom has a smartboard, and the safety measures on campus are excellent. I really appreciate the weekly newsletters to help parents stay in the loop.

That said, there are a few areas that could be improved. Parental involvement is more limited than Id like, mostly due to the schools large size and limited parking, which makes school-wide events challenging. The few family events they have throughout the year are amazing, including the international night and STEM night.

Additionally, each teacher has their own system for managing parent communication and involvement. Some teachers welcome volunteers for in-class events, while others rarely invite parents to participate. Also, in one school year, I had to download three different apps just to stay connected with my childrens teachers.

Overall, we feel very fortunate to be part of the York community. The opportunities here are unique, and our kids are not just learning but thriving.

Lots of bullying from both teachers and kids. They tend to punish and blame the kids that stick up for what is right rather than the kids who do the bullying. Ton of victim shaming and they try to scare them into staying quiet. New administration is needed and more listening needs to happen.
