This school absolutely sucks. The way they run the school is exactly like a prison. You arent allowed to sit with your friends at lunch and if you wait just a minute past when you get there, you can get suspended or written up for no reason. Teachers favorite students here, its totally unfair. If your sick and in the hospital and your grades drop, they wont do anything to help you. The school is infested with roaches, a dead bird in the gym. We have zero rights here, if your going to get jumped, oh forget about it, they wont help you. Theres so much racism in this school coming from staff, students and even chaperones. This school is utterly ridiculous. The amount of times there has been gun threats and someone found with ANY form of gun (toy, water, bb, etc) nothing has been done and the students continue to attend. They have ridiculous standards that obviously dont match the school. The teachers here LITERALLY force you to do things you never want to do, your treated like actual babies that have no form of asking for help. In my three years going to this school, the only good teachers I have actually ever met are Ms. Sammons, Ms. Buckley, Ms stout, and Mr. Legge. Theyre the only teachers that will ever actually teach your students anything regarding in school or general life lessons. Obviously coming from a child, it sounds horrible but believe me it is. This school cares more about if you have a cell phone rather than your wellbeing. The staff here refuse to call out any children of a greater minority for anything out of line, but the minute a smaller minority does something theyre the first to get on it. This school sucks. I would never recommend this school to anyone, my middle school years sucked.

This school DOES NOT address bullying. They talk the talk , but it is ONLY talk. They are aware that bullying goes on . It almost appears that is is similar to gang mentality. It is appalling ! We chose this magnet program and it was a HUGE mistake!!!!

The reason I do not recommend this school is because of all the bullying and fighting. this school also I felt had a very negative effect on my child going to school with some students who had no home training resulted in my daughter having to become tougher and not focused on her studies because she was too worried about drama or being assaulted. we had plenty of meetings and tried to control situations but in this time its too hard to control with bullying in school and also cyber bullying. The school could become stricter with discipline but also I love how they changed the school hours. Teachers should not be baby sitters so im all for kids getting out of school by 2:50.

Baypoint Middle School is a great school because we have a great principal and good classrooms.Also have a great gym with great coaches l. And great teachers.

As I previously stated administration could take the time to have programs where students are taught that being different is not a bad thing.

I think there is room for improvement some of the students come from really bad home environments. Students mimic what they see.

Homework should be regarded as a way for students to practice at home what they learned in school. It should not be used as busy work..

I was a teacher at BPMS from January 2011 -June 2014. I absolutely loved it. My first two years it was tough but I absolutely loved going to work there everyday. Then came our new principal and everything changed for the better. However, I left because one of the Assistant Principals did not like me and told other staff members that she did not like me. As I always do I just over looked it and continue to teach students. I volunteered to teach a Speech and Debate class and was told no additional certificate was needed but then later in the year was told by the District that I needed an English certification. I wasn't able to pass the English certification so I transferred I was heartbroken because I truly loved BPMS and I tried my best to show all of the students there they were loved regardless if they were magnet or traditional I didn't care because they were in my care and concern. My time at BPMS was one of the best experiences I ever had as an Educator.

Hello, I attend this school and I am in the Gifted Program. I am also in 7th grade. To be honest, the traditional students are disrespectful and rude. I believe all of the traditional students have potential, but their parents don't push their education. The Gifted and Magnet programs have some people that are a little like that, but their parents PUSH their education. In other words, I believe that this school is a good school to come to if your child is smart and is not in the traditional program.

Bay Point Middle School is a good school. However there are some students who believe that Magnet is a Status that makes them better than Regular school students. Magnet should not be used to promote discrimination. We've had enough of that!. My granddaughter is in regular school and she loves her teachers. My children went to Bay Point Middle before there was Magnet and at the beginning of Magnet and they excelled. So I believe that whether you are in Magnet or Regular school and want to succeed you can do it. I believe there are some disruptive students and since the majority of the students are in Regular school that is generally where the minority disruptive students are found. I hope the Regular school student's DO NOT let a few disruptive students bring them down. Magnet is a name and does not define who a student is or their character. I hope that one day this school will not be split but accompany the needs of all students the same; same books, same teaching, and same opportunities.

I am very disappointed with some of the comments listed below. My son was a 6th grader who is going to the 7th grade. He has made the honor roll and continue to progress. I am so sick and tried of trying to convince people that Bay Point is not a bad school. The six grades are in there own wing and as long as you a good parent who communicate with the teachers and staff the school is great. I don't have any complains about the school my son has enjoy his experience and looks forward to returning to school in the fall. If all the people in the neighbor send their kids to this school it would be a great school and help the rating. Most of the people own their home in the area which says a lot. The kids in the non magnet program are good kids as well. STOP putting them down!!!

I'm a student at Bay Point and i'm only in 7th grade and I'm in the magnet program. The traditional students can sure improve. I can tell the students don't even try. But the magnet students try very hard. We care about our grades, about each other and our feelings and if it wasn't for the Magnet program, this school would suck. It's so much fun coming every day and enjoying my day with all my friends and we all get along. The teachers are very reasonable and nice. They give out a decent amount of homework and they're cool. I would totally recommend the Magnet program not the traditional side of the school. Everything is so out of control in traditional. But Magnet students don't really hang out with much traditional students. Magnet is a great program with great people. The parent's don't understand how it really is. They should spend a week at the school and see how much fun we have and how much we learn. I love it and I'm really going to hate leaving next year. It's an amazing school despite most of the students, but I would really recommend the Magnet program. I just love it so much and I wouldn't switch schools.

I would never send my child to this school. Bay Point has *some* dedicated teachers who love the students, but even they are exhausted and beat down by the administration. The student population is disrespectful and they lack any home training. Some of them can be helped, but teachers are forced to be baby sitters for the most disrespectful students and an administration that treats the teachers like servants. If parents can, I would avoid this school at all costs, and since I work here, it truly pains me to say this. I love some of the students. I love some of the teachers. It could be a great place, but the disrespectful actions of some administrators rob the teachers out of any desire to teach. Most of my peers are all looking to transfer to other schools. I almost quit today!

I had a child attend this school and I must say although the new principal is tough, his presence has turned this school around for the better. There were less issues than in the past and a more positive spirit at the school. If he is allowed to remain there over time, I am confident that BP Middle can turn around and become one of the better Middle schools on the Southside.

The school is out of control as far as discipline is concerned. There do not seem to be consequences of any value for negative behaviors. Some of the teachers do not have accountability of the students in their classes and the students get away with ridiculous behaviors that create situations that are so disruptive to education, that it seems next to impossible that anyone can learn there. What a disservice to those few students who may actually want an education.What are the policy makers in administration trying to do to fix the repetitive negative behaviors? Very troubling when I think these kids are our future.

A student was assulted at the school recently. The child who assulted the other student has a history of this. The only thing being done is a 3 day supension. This does not set a good example and is my opinon is not acceptable.
