This school is a hateful filled school by students! For context my son is bisexual and MY KID CAME CRYING TO HOME, because he was called many insults and the student called him and he quote "a mental illness" and many other things. The school is very homophobic from their students. They also advertise there school as a "bully free zone" even though they have many bullying problems!
The learning is nothing special then a regular public school. It's not that good nor bad. And the students arn't that excited about learning.(except the classes they wanted)
Family Engagement is average for a school.

My son experienced ongoing bullying at this school, and unfortunately we did not see meaningful intervention from the administration. The school’s response to bullying concerns felt minimal, and it was often difficult to reach or speak with the principal about issues that were affecting students.

Another concern is safety. There have been gun threats reported more than once during the time my son attended. While the school typically sends an email notifying parents when something happens, there does not appear to be much follow up communication with students about the seriousness of these situations or how they should be addressed.

Overall, based on our experience, I would encourage parents who are considering schools in the area to carefully explore their options before enrolling.

I LOVE this school i’ve only found a couple things that I don’t really like but otherwise it is amazing and as a student I think other kids would like it. It is also been very helpful and supporting.

This school does nothing about the bullying of students. There is no communication for parents of children who are victims of bullying, nor are there any solutions. On the contrary, we find ourselves with arrogant staff who in a few words said that they could not do anything to improve this situation. Like many other parents, I was forced to withdraw my daughter from this school.

School tolerates bullying and does nothing to help the victims. They literally do nothing to the students that are bullying and harassing other students.

I taught at Carwise as a longterm sub and my son went there, too. I thought the teachers and administrators were supportive, dedicated and caring.

Group of girls at this school allowed to bully others girls with no consequences. The bullied students end up having to find others schools for their child. Not sure why the school does nothing to the bullies. I guess they don’t care or maybe they are all friends with the bullies parents

Carwise is a great school! The teachers and staff are always helping the students! The school has so many opportunities for students with the wide selection of electives! This school is a hard one to beat! Go Sharks!

Depends on the teacher. Some leave a lasting impact and really try to engage and teach the kids outside the FSA standard testing requirements, some do the minimal amount requested by the state and school.

The new principle is a strong roll model for honesty and integrity. Zero bullying tolerance. Addresses issues as they arise, doesn't let them just sit on his desk to wait until time is found, he finds it.

I have one child who is now in 8th grade at CMS. So far he's done well. I have to push him and I have to make sure he's in target. Some teachers are harder to deal with than others but most of time I get a good response when questioning something. I have had a few who believe they are above reproach and are hard to deal with.
We have a new Principle who has ZERO tolerance for any misbehavior! He is a strong voice in the school and seems to be doing a very good job.
Each grade level AHS it's own VP and office staff. It's hit or miss on how they are. The guidance Councelor in 6th was aloof, 7th engaged but seemed overwhelmed and 8th so far zero contact even though my child is on a 504 Plan.
Campus is clean and a good size. Safe and closed to all outside influences during school hours. There is little to no contact in middle school. Unless there is an issue you don't hear from teachers. Not odd considering it's just getting students and parents ready for HS into college. No more babying .

My daughter has volunteered as a tutor all year in the library and has been an honor student and gifted since I can remember. Just a quick note to show how petty some of the staff can be. All the good she has done and in the one year that she has been going to this school she gets dress coded for wearing long black jeans with a half sleeve shirt that goes to her belt buckle which did not show skin but when the VP made her raise her hands all the way above her head, the shirt showed a small part of her belly button. REALLY! If this is what you want to pick on kids for, you need to seriously reevaluate what you deem appropriate verse inappropriate seeing what has occurred at the school in the past! How sad. How about praising the good kids for all the good things that they do!

I spent my whole middle school years here and honestly I wouldn't have wanted to spend it anywhere else. The teachers and administration wore great and always super helpful with what ever you needed and the people who attended the school weren't so bad either. There is a mixture of different types of people who attend this school so your destined to find people who you fit right in with. My 3 years at Carwise Middle were the best 3 years of my life.

I just finished my 8th grade year here, and it was an overall good experience. The teachers are very mixed throughout teaching styles, motivations, and policies. Mostly all of the teachers are liked in some form or another, and it seemed like every year there were at least three teachers always willing to help and care more about the student's motivation and inspiration more than their test scores. Always be open to each teacher's style because you'll notice that some teaching styles overlap, but each teacher has their own way of "spicing up" their class (whether the students enjoy it, that's a different story). When it comes to teachers, I have one piece of advice: choose your battles wisely. Student to teacher interaction can be one of the toughest things to master at this school. And to address the bullying, that could use more attention. I was bullied twice and the action they took was effective the first time, but not the second (and that one was the worst one). The second time, my friend and I were physically and mentally abused and nothing was done. But its a nice school with dedicated staff that care about what they do and their impact on the world.

Carwise Middle School leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to bullying. Some of the teachers don't really want to teach. When bullying was brought to teachers, guidance counselor and principal, they seemed to brush the problem under the carpet. They didn't want to deal with it.

Carwise middle school is like any other middle school, it has kids, teachers some bullies and, well a building! Yes I know their is bullying at this school, but you can't side from that, all other schools on this planet have bullies! The academics are great you can learn above your grade level and you don't even know it. It all just comes natural with the way the teachers teach! In the past 3 years after middle school I still mis it, being a middle schoolers at carwise is a hole lot better that being a high schooled in Dunedin! The teachers their are great some of them are a little ruff but hey that is the way that life works, think if their ruff know it's only to teach you what to expect in high school and after high school! At Dunedin high their are about 12 kids that came from carwise and all of those kids are the best in class, in the grading system it lists all the kids with the highest grade average and score in the school all the carwise kids bet the seniors and juniors and sophomores combined! I just want to say I miss you carwise! And I will never forget you! GO SHARKS!

I am on this site because I am considering private school for my 7th grader who is currently at Carwise. The teachers are indifferent at best. One has admitted in writing, to giving up and letting him do his own thing. This is a child who was absent for 13 days straight with medical documentation and has a 504 plan in place. Yet I cant get teachers or the administration to help make up for lost instructional time at all. so an honor roll student taking advanced classes is now failing.

This school is bad - period! The teacher's are lazy and never go out of their way for any child who may be experiencing difficulties. The kids are mean to each other and the school never teachers them how to care and respect each other. The VP is a joke. She is unprofessional at best. If you child is different in anyway - find another school - you won't be accepted here and no one will be educated enough to help you - this includes the teaching staff. My child is in seventh grade and is miserable. The teachers are disrespectful and have not figured out that they are teaching for the students - not only to collect a pay check. Poor professional ethics. It's impossible to get anyone to help you and you are virtually shut out of the school if you have a problem or need help. This is a prime example of how schools are failing our kids. The only reason students score so high on standardized testing at this school is because Florida's standard are very low and many of the students at this school come from educated families.

Carwise Middle School is over all the best middle school ever. All the teachers are fun, nice and understanding, and really do care about your grade. I'm in the band and Mr. Obara is the best ever!! He's so much fun. I really recommend this school!! Go Sharks!!!
