Both of my children attend this school. They were very cooperative with me concerning both of their learning needs. My children have very different personalities and very different needs, but all of their teachers were helpful and encouraging of them. The support staff also helped me go outside of the normal guidelines to make sure my gifted son was able to accelerate his learning, so that he did not become bored. I would wholeheartedly recommend this school to anyone.

The Student Environment needs to be corrected: it is 85% Hispanic not white. Perhaps it's just Hispanics that see themselves as white. But when you go to a school and you are immediately greeted in Spanish, meetings are held in Spanish, everything is in Spanish - that is a clear indicator that the majority of the students in attendance is Hispanic. My daughter gets bullied all the time for being the only african american in class - she's been labeled "brownie,'" "darkie" and other explicitives. This is a clear indicator of what these kids are learning at home. I'm so tired of minority groups forgetting that they are in deed a minority group. To these parents - keep your racist kids at home instead of ruining the school enviroment for others. To the administration - yes those kids should be suspended - I don't care that they are in the 1st/2nd grade. What about my kid???? She matters too.

Teachers can only do so much - the issues stem from uninvolved parents.

I love the energy at this school. I had concerns about one of my children and, those concerns were immediately addressed and help was provided. I've had experience with other schools and other districts and have never gotten that kind of response and assistance anywhere. Yet, SWE jumped to help my child.

The teachers are EXCEPTIONAL and the communication is so key to keeping the environment positive. The students are receiving the very best and it shows in how they interact with each other and in their testing scores.

I also think it is AMAZING how the PTA does so much without our having to sell unused things. Fundraising is FABULOUS and ESSENTIAL but they've found a way to do it without the parents having to harass friends and family to buy things they don't really want.

Overall, our experience at SWE has been amazing and I have friends who bought homes just to go here. I feel blessed to be a SWE pelican parent!
