The teachers my children have had have all been great. The administration staff is horrible. They have little to no communication and the only value they seem to follow is say one thing and do another. They are hypocritical and condescending. I wouldn't want them teaching my kids anything about religion because they don't seem to live their faith, especially the new principal, she's the worst. They must have had no other applicants for the job. This school used to be great but now it's a big old dumpster fire. We're moving to San Jose at the end of the school year and can't wait.

My children hate it here! They do not particularly enjoy this school due to reasons such as corny activities and they take religion too seriously here.

My experience has only been positive at this school for the past 12 years that my children have attended. Led by a caring principal who I dearly appreciate. The kids are well mannered. The teachers are loving. The curriculum is challenging and most of all, the Catholic faith is part of their everyday life.

The teachers and staff are amazing. Mrs. Fecitt knows which students are my children when I walk into the office and genuinely cares about the students and families. The teachers are amazing and so caring for their students. We love that it feels like a small family rather than a huge school full of strangers.

My daughter absolutely loves this school. She is in VPK and although they have a very early traditional Catholic school arrival, she is excited and ready to get to her school and learn. I grew up in a Catholic school and would've liked to see more faith base education, but then again, she is only in pre-K, and I'm sure the higher grades get religion classes, although I would've loved hearing her come home to singing some Christian/Catholic songs. Overall, we are very happy with this school and thinking to dish out the cash for continuing education at St. Joseph's Catholic school.

St. Joseph's is a wonderful, caring, engaging school environment that is rooted in Catholic teachings. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a high-quality education for their child.

The school tries very hard to nurture through the development of faith and healthy learning. They are always having activities to bring the community closer and that makes a difference to our family. The schoolwork is not too challenging for our kiddos, but they do have a good balance of reading, math and spelling weekly to do. They also have a police stop station onsite ...How wonderful is that!!!

We have two children in this school. My kids have friends in public school as well....They often come home from playing outside with their friends and tell me they are glad they get to go to private school....As parents we are very pleased with the school....our kids are not perfect, and the school does their best to show them where they go wrong......This school is a private school so funding and helping by volunteering at the school is a must like any private school.

All of my children have had wonderful experiences at SJCS over the past five years and continue to look forward to many years to come. The office staff is warm and welcoming. They have become like family when entering the office as I have volunteered throughout the the school year. The teachers and aides are very involved and hands on with the students - always coming up with new and fun activities for the students to learn and experience . A lot of schools seem to have heavy class numbers, but my children's class sizes have been 25 or less and each class from PreK to 4th grade has an aide which is so helpful. I haven't had any issues with curriculum and feel the homework load (less than 25 minutes each night) is sufficient for their current ages/grades. The sports programs have continued to grow and I would like to see a boys baseball team added. I love that my children are getting a well rounded academic and religious education that will continue to help build on their Catholic foundation.

We have had our children with this school for 10 years and we are so thankful for it. We have 3 biological kids there now and have had 3 foster kids enrolled there as well. Each child has felt loved and challenged to bring out their best. I like all the teachers and staff. They teach our children the Catholic faith, academics, stem, and how to be respectful of others. Everything we could ask for!

Great school! Super impressed with the constant upgrades to technology and curriculum. My daughter was very well prepared for high school. There are so many opportunities for extra curricular activities for both sports and academics. The staff and administration have always positively addressed any concerns I have had. I also love that my kids have had a very strong Catholic foundation where their faith is now part of their daily lives.

They ignore mental health issues in their students. Teachers neglected to reach out about self deprecating work turned in. You also pay much more to be a non-Catholic enrollee. Since my child is not in fear of retribution, she is now telling me how the school constantly made a point to shame her for not being Catholic. We attend Church at another Christian denomination. We dont treat people with differing beliefs differently. I would never expect a school to do this to children!

This school seems to push children to misery. I See a lot of children going back to complain about this place. I never knew a CHILD to write a Review on grade school. It must really be bad for them to spend time sharing how bad it was.

Absolutely awful. Weve never felt welcomed, my child was never built up by anyone their pushing her to do her best. She was only shamed. She kept up pretty well too! This school is more fiscally focused than that are at shaping and growing the minds of the children they are paid to facilitate.

There is a fine line between discipline and closet sadism; some teachers in this school seem to blur it. Academically it is middle of the road with very antiquated teaching methods. Would not recommend this school.

It does, but sometime at a huge cost. You do not need to tear people down in order to build them up. Most teachers I've come in contact with do much of the former and little of the latter.

Homework for the sake of homework has been shown not to work; quiet, focused study time is better. Too much busy work seems to cram the schedule without any appreciable improvement in knowledge base.

My ex wife coerced me into enrolling our sons in this school and I am certain that the antiquated teaching methods have been dragging them down. Kids need a secular education in today's world, not a curriculum in fairy tales and irrelevant dogma. Add to that a woefully ignorant staff and a parent-school cloud-based communication platform that doesn't work, and you get a complete cluster of an organization.

I attended St Joe's from Kindergarten till 8th grade. The expectations for students are very high and the school work can be demanding. Going into high school, I was very well prepared and found myself more advanced academically than many other freshman. However, I didn't find myself to be advanced socially. St Joseph shelters you and some teachers can choose favorites. Certain members of the administration were friends with certain teachers and they could be cliquey; the administration would not listen to the students when a problem arose. Overall, the atmosphere was positive among my peers and my best friends from St Joe's are still my best friends today. Academically, the school should be considered an A school; however, if this review was done based off of other subjects, the school should be considered a C school...

The administration at the school is lacking. A change in leadership is long overdue. The school is not run in a professional manner. Petty grudges are held by administrators and the children are made to suffer.

What is telling is that according to this website, there are 191 rated private elementary or middle schools within 60 miles of Mandarin and St. Joseph's is ranked #173 according to the community ratings. That is within the bottom 10% and by far the lowest rating for a Catholic school. Obviously this isn't scientific but it is telling and reflective of our family's experience at the school.

There is severe problem in the administration at St. Joseph's and it is killing a once great school. One common thread I see in most of the negative comments is a lack of leadership from the school administration and I have to agree. There seems to be a culture at the school that tolerates bullying, both by students and sometimes even faculty. Many of the teachers are excellent, many are not -- which is probably typical for any school, public/private/religious. However, at St. Joseph's nothing is done to the "bad" apples. Given the overall negative rating of St. Joseph's compared to other similar schools in the city, I know I am not alone with my thoughts. I have to believe the bad to good teacher/administrator ratio is much higher than at other schools.

This school is horrible. No values what so ever. It's all about the cash at St. Joseph. If you don't donate a lot you're treated like garbage and your kids will be bullied because of it. My daughter had been bullied at St. Joes, and when it was reported to the principal Rhonda Rose she laughed in my face and did nothing about it. I would not recommend anyone sending their children here unless they have big bucks to donate.

My daughter is a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School, and she is doing beautifully in high school. She is in the top 10% of her class at Bishop Kenny High School, where St. Joe's grads are always recognized as excelling in math and science. She learned great study habits and organizational skills, and she is an excellent writer. The junior high teachers at St. Joe's are demanding and there's a lot of work done, but it is so worth it when the students get to high school. It's a great place to be, and the parents are very involved throughout the day.

We can not give enough praise for this school and we are so fortunate that our child has attended for the past two years. We look forward to her continuing her education there. The faculty, staff and principle have been wonderful and the teachers are outstanding!!!
