We are blessed to be a part of Bayshore Christian School! Our oldest son (who attended since 4th grade) graduated last year with the Bright Futures scholarship which pays 100% of his college tuition! Our youngest has attended since 1st grade and has shown tremendous academic and spiritual growth! Both of my boys have participated in Varsity sports, performing arts and mission trips. We will always strongly recommend and support BCS!

Our family selected Bayshore Christian School for a variety of reasons (small school/class size, Christian values, location, etc.). The school and staff were very welcoming and it has proven to be an environment that allowed our daughter to thrive -- both academically and socially. We appreciate the opportunities that she been afforded! Although Bayshore Christian School is a smaller community, there have been ample opportunities for our daughter to participate in areas that interested her: sports, student government, clubs, advanced courses... Our personal experience has been with the upper division/high school level as she attended 11th and 12th grades at Bayshore Christian School.

All my children have either graduated from or are currently attending BCS. A lot of schools have strong academics or a variety of sports programs, but what makes this school stand out is the environment. The teachers truly care about their students and want them to succeed in life and as individuals- not just when it comes to grades. Your child will get an excellent education here, but they will also be welcomed into the warm family environment that is evident the moment you step on campus.

Bayshore has been an amazing school for my children especially my middle daughter. My children came from public school and instead of getting them a 529 and a IEP I decided to try Bayshore. Best decision that was made for my children. They care for my childs spiritual, mental and emotional needs. All of the teachers and staff down to the maintenance personnel know each and every kid and the kids know the staff. They create a safe place for each student to grow and flourish. I will always be grateful for Bayshore.

This place was terrible I am so glad I left this dump all the teachers are extremely sexist and will do anything to let the girls have their way. You get in trouble for the stupidest things that you can think of and it is just plain sad. Dont even get me started on the athletics they have there, their culture is all about losing and never about winning as long as you tried your hardest and the results show when you go see their trophy case. When I left they locked up my transcript and my records so I could not send them to my new school so I had to go there personally to make them give them to me. They are so mad everyone is leaving because most of their faucilty is a joke and I know for a fact they would keep telling these parents to say the same junk every year to make it seem like this school is good. Trust me when I say this to never attend this place ever.

Bayshore is a little hidden jem full of great people and staff!!
Small and Intimate enough for kids to feel comfortable an grow in their faith an be able to personalize their learning experience, yet Big enough to accommodate the curriculum and all that bigger schools have to offer.
Highly engaged community with many great activities and events to volunteer and get to know everyone.

I definitely will be recommending Bayshore to other parents!

My family has had the best experience at Bayshore Christian. Our daughter is in the preschool, and the community is so kind and welcoming. The education and emotional support she has received this year has far surpassed expectations and means the world to me as a parent. Bayshore Christian school has been instrumental in supporting our daughter both spiritually and academically. Bayshore Christian has been life changing for our family in many ways. Both of our children feel loved and seen for they are, individually. We love this school for our kids because the staff and teachers are so supportive of our family and values, kind, and caring. The curriculum is healthy with a nice mixture devoted to religion. The grounds are well kept and clean for the enjoyment of our children. The extracurricular activities are a robust variety, and my children have fun doing everything from plays, to music, to sports. This is a healthy, holistic school and I'm so glad we are participating in building future alumni of this school. When it comes to private schools, we feel like we are getting a great amount of worth for our money.

I can not say enough good things about Bayshore Christian School. The school has very small classes so your children get a lot of one on one time with their teacher as well as all the many specialty teachers. The curriculum is challenging and they teach to your child's ability. My daughter was being taught second grade science in first grade. What makes the school so special is the love and family feel the school has. Each and every one of the teachers knows your child's name and genuinely cares for your child. When i say you feel like part of a family, i truly mean it. I understand why alumni come back to teach or even have their own children go there. My daughter went from a very shy little girl who was timid to speak to anyone to a confident child who was able to get up in front of the entire school to show case her talent. Bayshore Christian is truly a special place.

There is not enough space in a quick review to tell you what my experience was like at Bayshore Christian School.
This is the 50 Year Anniversary of this jewel of South Tampa. I was an integral member of the staff at BCS for 35 years as a teacher and Lower school Principal. All 3 of my kids went to Bayshore, and thrived. Little boys and girls I taught in First Grade in 1977 are now middle aged, and are parents and grandparents of current students! Most of my deepest friendships are with current and former teachers, administrators, parents and kids who have been educated, supported and loved by this exemplary school.
When you hear the phrase: "Bayshore is Family", you can believe it! Bayshore has not only been an excellent educational experience for young people from K2-12th grades, but the fine group of people who fill the roles of teachers and staff selflessly pour their lives into families. To so many, students and parents alike, BCS has been a life-changing experience.
I could go on and on talking about the challenging curriculum, the small classes where kids are known and loved, as well as taught with mastery in mind, or the enrichment of the STEM programs, dual enrollment and technology, not to mention (but I will) the opportunities to thrive in the art, music and sports classes offered at every age level.
When you read the message on the wall of the gym: "Committed to Excellence" you can believe that, too! That mindset of excellence encompasses the focus of what some folks call BCS: "The best-kept secret in Tampa Bay". I'm letting that secret out! Let's tell the whole world! I recommend this school with ardent enthusiasm. 5 Stars are not enough to reflect its excellence.

Our daughter began her education as a pre-schooler at Bayshore Christian School and attended until she completed 8th grade. It was a wonderful experience and we will forever be grateful that we choose Bayshore to set the foundation for our daughter's future. There are so many reasons why we choose Bayshore, it's hard to name them all, however, the fact that it's like a small "family" of students and teachers where all the students easily get the attention they need to thrive is one big reason. There is a strong emphasis on Bible study and Christian values, which was also very important to us. Bayshore has an outstanding music department and they are also very well-rounded in almost all sports including golf! We found that students receive a quality education and are able to learn at their own pace, which is a big plus. When it came time for "upper school" our daughter wanted to experience a larger high school so we made the decision to switch. The transition was super easy and we feel like we got the best of both worlds. Thank you, Bayshore!

Bayshore Christian School is a great school for learning, growing, and achieving. The teachers there have taken personal interest in seeing that students receive an exceptional education. As former student at Bayshore, I received not only an education but life long friends who are like family to me.
The size of classes are not to big and the students all seem to know one another even in upper and lower class groups. There is a good emphasis placed on scholastics and having good moral character, plus there is an assortment of sport activities offered as well. My experiences at Bayshore have all be great and I would recommend to anyone looking for a quality educational experience with an added emphasis on learning and Bible studies to look at and consider all the opportunities that Bayshore Christian School has to offer.

We have been very happy at Bayshore Christian School. Our son has attended BCS since kindergarten and his learning and growth has been amazing. Small class sizes, dedicated teachers and faith based studies are just several of the many aspects of BCS that we treasure. Additionally, their performing arts, athletics and after school programs are top notch. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Bayshore Christian School. We moved our child to BCS at the beginning of the 2020-21 school year after spending the summer in their camp program. Bayshore's committment to open safely for in-person teaching was important to us for our lower elementary-aged child. We moved from a local, highly rated public school that was not what we anticipated.
Within the first two months at Bayshore, we knew as a family we found our school home. My daughter was happy at school, loves her teachers, and the administrative staff. What a huge difference it makes to have teachers who greet children with smiles and an open hand to help.
We also participate in the aftercare program, which is a great convenience to working parents.
Overall, we are blessed to have found Bayshore Christian School and I highly recommend.

I attended Bayshore from 4th to 9th grade. I cherished my time there and formed many friendships that have lasted decades. The instruction was top shelf quality and I'm blessed to have had it. We took it for granted that we were receiving the same education as other schools, but I was shocked to see how far ahead we were once exposed to what other schools produced! Bayshore prepared me well for college and life beyond.

Our family moved to Tampa, FL in June 2020, when my son was four years old. We had a three-day weekend to find a school for our son in the middle of a pandemic, when everything was virtual. We stumbled across Bayshore Christian School, and from our very first interaction with Ms. Matti in Admissions, we felt so welcomed! Our son's first year was in K4 with Mrs. Milne, and our son thrived. He was embraced by his teacher and the school more broadly - he excelled in academics, social interactions, and learning about our Savior. I was impressed every day - he came home with new skills and new stories about his day. This year, he is in Kindergarten with Mrs. Chapman. After his first day of school, he came home and asked me - "Mommy, did you ask Mrs. Chapman to make everything fun today? Because she did." That is the essence of our experience at BCS. Our son learns so much academically, spiritually, and psychosocially, but he does it all having fun! This school is more than an academic institution - it is family.

As an alumnus and parent of two kids who attended elementary at Bayshore, I highly recommend Bayshore. It is small with great student to teacher ratios , however, it has all the benefits of a larger school. When I graduated I was well prepared to attend Auburn University. Both of my kids were well prepared for honors classes in middle school when they left elementary at Bayshore. Our family moved and that is why we changed schools. I feel like it is a hidden gem in South Tampa where you can receive a strong private school education at a great price!

My family have been a BCS family for as long as I can remember. It's the only school that have been a part of. Started with my first daughter from 1st grade all the way to graduating highschool as valedictorian. my second is now in 10th grade started in k2 (wow). Bayshore has been good to us. I never have to worry about my kids, the teachers are exceptional and they genuinely care about the students. If yiou a looking for a great school with good moral values, a place where your children can thrive and grow then you definitely want to check BCS out. You won't regret it.

I am a graduate and alumnus of the school. I can highly recommend this school as one of the BEST schools in the City. For those parents who are wanting a safe environment, small class sizes, and excellent instruction - all from a moral, Christian world view, then Bayshore is the place for your child! There are other Christian schools in the marketplace, but NONE seem to provide excellent academic instruction, Christian teaching, AND a family-first environment. The graduates I know of include those in ministry and the traditional middle class professions, but also the International Director of Merck Labs and the Program Director for the F-35 program at Lockheed Martin. Lawyers in Washington, DC and Ivy League grads. These professionals are across all industries nationwide, ALL from Bayshore Christian! There is NO equivalent in the marketplace.....none. So a small campus, historic buildings, been around 50 years, accomplished professional graduates......can anymore be said?

Bayshore is a great school. Cozy and intimate where all the kids and teachers know each other.I love the class sizes. Last year after being home schooled my child had fallen behind and her teacher picked it up right away and developed an action plan. I dont feel she would have gotten that kind of attention in a public or even larger private school. Its been a great experience.

Bayshore Christian truly provides a harmonious relationship between teachers, parents and learning. My daughter LOVED her teacher and, as a parent, you could tell their VPK program was well organized and optimized for learning and growth. Within just weeks, I could see incredible gains in my child's speech, motor functions and thought processes.

Communication from teacher to parent was top-notch. They let us know each day how well she was progressing, any disciplinary issues, even what type of "bathroom break" there was. A summary of the weekly curriculum and classroom "jobs" was sent home so we were able to reinforce the learning and expectations at home.

The school also provided photos or videos of our daughter enjoying her learning experience at school through a secure web platform. It was always a highlight of our day.

Highly recommend Bayshore Christian. One of the best schools in South Tampa.

Bayshore Christian is the perfect school for our daughter. We have two kids and you have to know the needs of each child. While my other child does not attend because she can effectively thrive in loud and busy environments, my other daughter thrives in a classroom with little distractions and a greater sense of community. Neither are wrong or right but are better fits based on my kids needs. I highly recommend checking out this school if you are looking for a place where everyone feels like they are a part of something!

We love this school for our daughter! Everyone has been so welcoming and I really love the family feel to this school. What really speaks volumes is the amount of teachers that are Bayshore Christian alumni and are now sending their children to school at BCS. Looking forward to seeing the new building. Another thing that I LOVE are the events at BCS. I was blown away by the school's Grandparents, Veterans, and Thanksgiving celebrations. They go all out and what a turn out at these events. Teachers are all wonderful and seem way less stressed out compared to teachers I've seen at public schools. Happy teachers=happy students. The homework is assigned by age group and is not overwhelming for the students. My two boys have had the appropriate amount assigned to them in their 4 years at BCS. If I ever have an issue, I talk directly to my child's teachers and they are great at communicating.

I switched over to BCS in Aug 2014. It was the best decision I made for our son. I was in a quest to find a school that's was not financially bound to Common Core. Even though all school have found themselves in the obligation to introduce it's student to Common Core. The first semester he attended BCS I asked him if he liked it and he said "I miss my friends" I told him but what about what you are learning and he said "ohhhh here I feel like I'm learning a lot more, the teachers explain alot better" I knew then it was the right choice. His previous school was so focused on standardized testing and school grade average there was no focus on the student. We went from endless nights of homework, to on our worst night we might do 2 hrs. The struggle in math is over and his reading comprehension has improve tremendously. - Monica

The commenter who stated that this school's terrible ratings should be ignored is a perfect example of the Bayshore administration mentality, which seems to believe that they are above reproach, and any issue with the school is the parent or student's problem, not theirs. It is coldhearted and sad. They will never learn or grow that way; they will only continue down a closed-minded, destructive path. Good luck if you ever disagree with anything they say. You and your child may be shunned.

All of my children graduated from Bayshore Christian. They were well prepared for college after graduating. We have recommended the school to several other families that have enrolled their children. Bayshore Christian sports program Is very competitive and does very well for a school its size. Leadership does very well trying to build the school. Just like any Christian school, there are a few bad apples that need to adjust to the Christian atmosphere. This takes time. Bayshore gives students an opportunity to find themselves spiritually. Realizing that children will make mistakes and are not perfect, I think Bayshore Christian does a very good job preparing them for the future. There are some parents that feel Bayshore does not do a good job because staff does not allow them or their children to control the school. Some of these families and students have been dismissed. Obviously if a family or student has been dismissed, they are naturally going to be upset and give the school terrible ratings. Ignore those ratings. Bayshore Christian is doing everything to maintain there Christian standards and striving to improve day by day. This is an excellent school.

My children attended BCS last year and we were very, very happy with the school. Both of our children grew academically and spiritually. I have recommended BCS to other parents, especially military families, as the school is very welcoming. I found the teachers and administration to be very courteous, professional and excellent in education. My only recommendations to the school would be 1) the school needs to be fenced in for security purposes (although all doors do remain locked during the day... it's just an old Florida feel with an "open to the elements" campus like so many Florida schools have). 2) I wish the school had a better fine arts program, like an after school band, orchestra or choir. Other than that, we were so, so, so happy there. My kids loved the chapels and their teachers! If we ever move back to Tampa, I will be re-enrolling my children at BCS! As a side note, BCS now offers program for kids with special needs in partnership with another local school. This other school rents space on the BCS campus, so if you have a typical child and a child with special needs, they could all go to school together! How wonderful is that!

Be warned! Ever since their current Head of School started, this school has been burning bridges left and right. That is why this school keeps shrinking. If you want a family atmosphere, there are plenty of much better private school options in the Tampa area, including Christian ones. This school was the worst ordeal of my child's life.

I am a parent of a pre-schooler as well as a teacher who has a public school background of 10 years. I am impressed by the level of caring the teachers and administration demonstrate for the students' overall well-being at this school. Academically, I'm witnessing my child flourish and learn at an incredible rate. As an educator, I see the curriculum as well-rounded and rigorous. It is a school that will certainly prepare your child for college. Most importantly, however, is the environment BCS offers its students. It's a place that truly feels like family. I believe that how a student feels at school is an integral part of their academic success. Combine an excellent curriculum with a loving and caring staff and you've got a recipe for success. You will not find that combo in the public school system. Yes, public schools have excellent teachers. I'm proud to have called many of them colleagues. But when a school has 2000 students in it, it's hard to feel the sense of connection and community that BCS offers. Can't put a price on that.

Our entire family, children included, love this school and we look forward to many years to come. Both the teachers and the administration of the school are amazing. The head of the school is passionate about the welfare and comfort of every student and any issues that have come up have been handled efficiently and professionally. The number one focus here is our children s education. All the teachers we have encountered have gone above and beyond for their students. Communication is a priority for this school, not only for the parents, but they keep the students informed as well. One of the things that makes us feel so comfortable with this school is the longevity of the teachers and knowing that this is a legacy school. Many of the teachers that are here have been here as students and their children are here ,and or, came here and now their children are here as well.

Bayshore Christian School was a horrible experience for my family. My daughter was an honor roll student each of her 5 years there. She also had great behavior marks. Bayshore expelled her because they did not like her parents believing in evolution. I was called in the middle of the week and told my daughter was never allowed back because of my personal beliefs on evolution and the age of the Earth (which they teach is only 4,000 years old). My daughter suffered emotionally being torn away from her friends in such drastic circumstances - a week before Christmas holiday began. The new administration has purged other children from the school. I only hope this latest inquisition does not continue. There is nothing Christian about psychological damage they are doing to innocent children.

Bayshore Christian School has gone through 5 heads of school in the past 6 years. The academic curriculum uses A Beka books which teaches Christian Dominionism and Young Earth Creationism. There seems to have been an exodus of sorts of faculty and students in recent years. We were very dissatisfied with the quality of education our child was receiving. When we brought this up to the teachers and administration there were no positive developments. Our child no longer attends and is receiving a much better education at a free public school.

My son was was being bullied in the public schools and nothing being done. At bayshore my son feels safe and loved. It's nice hat he does not have to run home from the bullies and to be excited about going to school. This kid skipped school now he does not. My child's grades went from the 50's to A's and B's. he is proud and feels better about himself. Staff is caring and seem to have thier act together. Thank you bayshore.

I highly recommend Bayshore for students in all grades. I have three children who were graduated from BCS, and they all received an excellent education. The combination of academic rigor (including dual enrollment classes) spiritual education, sports and service requirements helped to develop well-rounded young people of whom I am very proud. I often reflect on their time at Bayshore where the sense of family and a supportive environment was so strong - that is something I can't put a price on. The current administration is highly qualified and they are committed to a bright future for the school. When I have grandchildren, I will do what I can to ensure they attend Bayshore.

I deeply regret attending Bayshore. It is a school that teaches you nothing about real life. I graduated there without any critical thinking skills, because Bayshore teaches that you must accept what they tell you, as if they are infallible. They preach zealous Christianity but do not practice love and compassion to anyone outside their small box of acceptance, aka, those who don t think the way they do. I feel sorry for the students there.

Complete nightmare! Run away! I have 2 children, one in elementary and one in middle school. My children came to Bayshore from a public school, where my son (6th) was an honor roll student, in gifted classes and so smart he was part of the Duke Tip program. They took a child who was excited about math and science and made him dread those classes and by the end of the year was receiving C's.The Math and science teacher lacks passion and barley speaks proper english. The entire school lacks leadership and parent communication is dreadful at best. Facilities are poor, there is no science lab and technology is severely lacking. The parent involvement is sad and the staff is need of proper leadership. If you are in the South Tampa area I urge you to stay away, there are MUCH better options, including public schools in the area.

Weak academics and poor ethics is the way I would sum up Bayshore "Christian" School, after many years of experience there. Since the last rater mentioned Bayshore's Head of School by name while admonishing the experiences of the two previous raters, I feel compelled to give my experience with Bayshore as well. In my unfortunate interactions with their Head if School, I have witnessed her callous decisions and disingenuous attitude on a regular basis. Breaking free from that school has been a breath of fresh air for my children. On an academic note, Bayshore's first senior class graduated in 1977, and the school has not had a single graduate attend an Ivy League school. Many of their graduates attend Hillsborough Community College. I truly believe this school does a disservice to students and parents.

This school should be ashamed to call themselves Christians. They recently refused admittance to an A/B honor roll student!, not because they didn't have an opening but because she has Dyslexia. They said she is a set up for failure. That doesnt sound very compassiaonate nor very Christian. Even though she works extremely hard to overcome her learning disability I guess they feel she may require extra effort in the future and they are not willing to do that,. Their only interest is in collecting money as effortlessly as possible.

Wonderful School! My daughter moved here from a well regarded public high school which was unfortunately not meeting our families expectations... So, we decided to move her to BCS and she is doing phenomenal! She loves the personalized instruction and caring environment. This school has been a blessing for our daughters future and our family!
