This school is the best school for students whose parents are friends with the principal and the administration. All the principal's friends kids will be placed in gifted class and only those kids will get to do Robotics and debate even if the other kids know coding and have taken robotics class outside of school and are very much interested in debate.

Being said that my daughter had amazing teachers 2 years out of the 5 years she attended. These teachers were loved by everyone because they care about all the kids in their class and communicate to all the parents not just the ones they are friends with.

One of the best things that happened to this school was to get new music teacher couple of years back. Until she came, the kids used to watch movies most of the music class with their previous music teacher and she used to have plays run by gifted kids and kids of PTA members.

This school is only for the kids whose parents are lucky enough to be friends with principal.

Great teachers with a small town feel!

I love Ms. Cunningham. She is a visible and enthusiastic leader who greets students by name.

I have no idea how students with disabilities are treated as I don’t have a child with disabilities.

I have had no opportunity to to experience bullying, thank goodness!

I love this school. It has a small town feel to it like those awesome schools you on see on TV! Lots of interaction...academic enhancement, fairs, field trips, celebrations, and competitions.

An assignment calendar and a communication log comes home with the student everyday.

They only implement certain rules when it’s fitting to them. Very inconsistent and the Vice Principal is rude.

Everything about this school is a mess. The parking is horrendous they let parents go for a free for all parking everywhere, kids walking through traffic and carline. The rules only apply to certain people and do not even look at the school if you have younger children and you actually want to be apart of the school. They are more concerned with a child in a stroller than the adults that randomly walk around on campus. Do yourself a favor and choose a better school for your kids.

Last year we had a great experience at Hawkes Bluff but this year has been a tough year for my daughter. She gets lots of anxiety going to school. Her teacher is not very organised and blames the kids when they don't understand what needs to be done. I have spoken to the administration a few times but they don't seem to care. They recently changed the school drop off policy which make her anxiety worst. I have to agree with another reviewer the home work policy is very confusing .

Hawkes Bluff used to be an excellent school! Such a family oriented place with a safe feel. My Husband and I both attended and we were so thrilled when our daughter started there. Unfortunately, they have made unnecessary rule changes.. such as not allowing parents to walk child to class building. We are disappointed our daughter will not have the same experience as we did.

This school is AMAZING! From top to bottom this school has all the qualities you look for in a school to have. Teachers, faculty, staff and parents are very much involved. They strive for academic excellence. The school just feels like an extension of your home. There is a lot of love and caring here! HBE is awesome!!!

Hawks bluff is the best school, I have a 5th grader and a 2nd grader,my kids are doing well in school thanks to all the wonderful teachers! I couldn't say anything bad about this school even if I wanted too, every teacher that my kids have had so far are excellent they are god sent, thank you to each and every one of these wonderful teachers that goes above and beyond there duty! I would give this school a thousand stars if I could!

Academics is top notch! My son is in kindergarten and he has learned so much this year. I would like to see more school spirit though. What happened to spirit week? A formal kindergarten ceremony? The End-of-the-year music show was lacking enthusiasm, coordination and pride. Some of the students were dressed in shorts and a t -shirt, one other student was wearing flip flops. Performance and singing go hand in hand and having all the kids stand on bleachers and just sing is a bit blah. Kindergarteners deserve a formal ceremony not in the classrooms. the students are deserving of a well put together event. Even if it's just a big one at the end of the year. A simple letter home with an enforced dress code would have made a difference. Feeling a bit discouraged:(

Yes, the PTA works hard to raise funds for the school and pay for things that were cut in the budget. They are a group of stay-at-home moms with the time to do so. The school is awesome with fabulous teachers who educate and love your children. The administration is first class and they truly care for the children. However, I too agree the PTA is rude, unprofessional and act like an extremely tight knit click of high school girls. Give a non PTA parent a chance, you might find them kind and helpful as well.

Hawkes Bluff Elementary is an amazing school. Originally I considered placing my children into a private school, but was urged to check out HBE. 8 years later, not only have I saved high tuition fees, but I feel my children have received more services and have been challenged academically! Most of the staff has been part of HBE for 10+ years and don't seem to ever want to leave. Having a veteran staff really says something about a school! The staff truly loves and cares for the students. Communication to the staff is welcomed and easy! As far as the PTA, they are a bunch of hard working VOLUNTEERS! The PTA Board supports the school wholeheartedly, and it saddens me to read the mean comments about a group of ladies whom put all of the HBE student body first! The family events and fundraisers are what the children will remember most, not how much they raised, but how much fun they had helping their community and being an active citizen! "Clicks" are only what they seem, and I am sure the PTA would welcome any help from any volunteer.

This school is absolutely amazing! They are a true community and always have something going on! Last Friday they had a Fall Festival from 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM and it was AMAZING!! I couldn't believe how many families were there! There were games, fun and a great time was had by all!

HBE rocks! From the teachers to the kids, this is a great school! EVERYONE is on board to make this the best school around! There's a few negative comments about the PTA, but the truth is HBE's PTA is extremely active, they do great things for our school that due to budget cuts the school would not be able to afford and as a parent what I appreciate most is the amazing experience & happy memories of their Elementary school! The Fall Festival & Food truck event was a blast! Keep the fun family times coming!

I think this school is great. The admin is wonderful. My son has Aspergers and the school and teachers are great with him. He has become very attached to some children and I believe that his ESE specialized teachers have helped him become a bit more social. He is also in love with the PTA president and the treasurer we have now. They have been very nice and friendly to him. I work closely with the PTA and have been able to be a room mom as well. I'm not sure if those who have made negative comments about the PTA really know them. Have they even tried to talk to them? Everyone has bad days. I know the PTA is always looking for volunteers and they have open meetings for parents to come. They have to work with the times and dates they are giving so some events are in the day but there are plenty at night. As for the PTA always being together, that is true. They have to be together because every month (including the summer months) there is a PTA function. The PTA either puts on, funds or participates in the functions every month.

I am really not happy here. The quality of education is good but as far as feeling welcomed and in a sense of community it is a poor experience. The assistant principal is rude and she is the gate keeper - never allows you to talk to the principal. The PTA is hard to be a part of it if you are a working parent. Most events after school get done by 6PM - I don't even get home till 5.45! I paid my dues but cannot really participate! There is a select group of parents and teachers who are in constant contact and they are the "in circle" very much like high school. Those parents' kids are the ones who are in the know and benefit the most. It is definitely not "equal opportunity". It used to be better when my older child went to school here but this year (2013-14) has been a poor experience. Fortunately we only have one more year to go! I hope this year will be better but I don't have much hope...will will try to survive and make the best of the situation! I can't believe I am saying this but Silver Trail Middle School for my older daughter has been a much more happy and rewarding experience!!

We love Hawkes Bluff. We've been there for 2 years. The teachers are mature, caring and very involved. There's a very active PTA with plenty of opportunities for both working and non working parents to participate.

We love Hawkes Bluff. We've been there for 4 years. The teachers are mature, caring and very involved. There's a very active PTA with plenty of opportunities for both working and non working parents to participate. The administrators are very present. Most days you can find the principal at the front gate greeting students and parents. What really sold me on this school is the support I received when from the administration when I did have a problem.

One of the reasons we moved to this area was so that my 1st grade daughter could attend this school. She has excelled here and is becoming more responsible and confident in her abilities every day. The learning environment is challenging, supportive, and rewarding. She loves her teacher and classmates and feels like part of a family here. The staff are welcoming, caring and professional. This school is very organized and friendly. As a parent there is no better feeling then seeing your child happy to go to school , look forward to learning and grow up to be a responsible citizen. Thank you for all of the positive influences HBE!

Hawkes Bluff Elementary is the best school around! The teachers are phenomenal and the two administrators are exceptional leaders!! We moved just so that our kids could attend this school. From the moment you walk in, everyone is so accommodating. The principal and assistant principal know every child's name (or so it seems) and are available always to talk with parents and answer any questions. The office staff is unbelievably friendly. No wonder this school is so successful! If only the could allow it to go through middle school! Keep up the great work HBE!

Overall, this is an excellent school. Most of the teachers are outstanding, and really care about your child. The ESE staff is the best! And there is a great PTA with a lot of parental involvement. The weakest link are the administrators who are not approachable nor helpful if you have any concerns. The curriculum is taught so it is challenging to the student based on his/her ability but they have had to cut some specials like art due to budget constraints.

Posted: November 2, 2011

A most excellent school despite weak administrative leadership. The teachers seem dedicated to providing a quality education to all the students.

Posted: September 12, 2011

You will not find a better school. My sister- in-law works at an expensive private school and my child is progressing at a much higher rate than her students. The staff is professional across the board. If you live here and do not send your kids, you are throwing your money away.

Posted: September 11, 2011

So far really great teachers. Kindergarten teacher was really caring but was on top of the kids learning.

Posted: September 26, 2010

Amazing staff ! The administration and teachers at this school are wonderful and caring individuals who care deeply about the kids! All 3 of my children are (or were) in Hawkes Bluff and love it.

The teachers and adminstrators are AMAZING. They love our kids and we love them!!!!

Posted: May 14, 2010

Because we have the Best long term Teachers and parent Involvement.

Posted: May 13, 2010

Because they have the best education! The teachers all have the patient to sit down with you and your child and explain any problems there is. My two daughters attend this school and coming from New York City I am very proud to have moved here and picked this school for them. They have learned so much! Thank you Hawkes Bluff Elementary School and Teachers!!!!

Excellent teachers, very friendly and family oriented school. Kids love their school!

Posted: May 13, 2010

The education is great... From staff members , teachers etc. take the time care for each student and you can forget the PTA who make wonderful things happen for all.

Posted: April 25, 2010

Couldn't ask for more! My son gets up everday happy to go to school! I wish there was more money in the budget so that we could keep our specials but the school is doing a tremendous job with what they have!
