My daughter is in 7th Grade. When she started in 6th grade she was coming from a small charter school. The charter school was out of necessity since we were previously zoned for low rated schools. I prefer public schools and all their resources. This school has been the best fit! She is thriving. I cannot say enough great things about the communications with the teachers. They are super responsive and always willing to help. They have rules and expectations that must be met and have been very transparent about them. My daughter started 6th grade with just one advanced class for math and is in all advanced classes this year. She loves her teachers and the school. It feels like a very safe environment and the staff has been really nice.

This school has its ups and downs to start with the food. The food here is absolute slop. almost inedible sometimes. The administrators only care about IDs and not the safety of students. The teachers are very hit or miss and in my experience have only had 3 good ones

We moved to Davie because of the schools. My son has attended Fox Trail and Indian Ridge Middle. The school Teachers and Staff are amazing, caring and kind. I ask my son and his friends about the going ons of the school day. I get the typical pre teen answers but then again my son and his friends are in a traditional family setting. I find that my son likes going to school and doesnt have dramatic school stories. I find that the staff trys to answer parent questions. Broward County School has strong policies and students academically, physically and over all health of its students are its priority. I loved Fox Trail and Indian Ridge. We look forward to Western High School

PLEASE PLEASE read all the reviews this is not a good school. My so has been there for 5 months not only have he been bullied by students in the boys locker room, but also by teachers, administrators, and students. My son was jumped by 3 students in the boys locker room where there is no supervision. I think that administration played a big part in it. They want my child out of that school they have did everything to get him out of this school. I had to do a police report, so I can press charges on these students. They do not care about the wellbeing of your child. This is the second time this happened to my child in the locker room. The principal doesnt do any work, he the 7th grade assistant principal doing all his work for him. After my child was jumped the students are still in school like nothing didnt happen. Also the students that did this told my daughter the office told him that I was pressing charges. They have change my son classes that was it. Everyone that let this take place will be held accountable. Listen to your kids parents. I dont know how many other students this has happened too.

I like this school. There are sometimes fights but the fights are never with any of the students that behave. I like this school and don't want to leave it. The teachers are mostly friendly and they are understanding. This is one of the better public schools in Broward County in my opinion. I would add it is a little crowded but if you don't mind maybe 2 or 3 more students per class then it's fine. There are also many different types of students in school. There are students of different cultures and students with disabilities that get special assistance, I like this school and I would suggest it.

When your in building 1 and you have to go to building five [ its like going on the other side of the planet] , even if you get held up for 30 seconds by your teacher and go late to class for 15 SECONDS YOU WILL BE MARKED TARDY!! You only have 4 minutes to go to each class which if you get 5 tardys, YOU GET A REFERRAL. I just dont find this very fair.

This is why I'm giving this school 1 star: Having fun. School's boring. I think we all know that. That's why we have tons of pages online talking about how to make it more fun. But under the enforcement of the new principal, kids are segregated from each other in lunchrooms. I've heard this is done for safety reasons. A safety that is assured by this principle is the gates being locked. It's really inconvenient for parents, even if it's one of the only thing that DOES assure safety. These lunch rooms don't have a good reason. Stops fights? They'll happen anyways. They aren't going to stop because of new rules, because old fights broke old ones. What's another detention going to do? I think you understand the point here. There isn't much going on here, especially at the start of the year, and separation of students is just making everyone upset. Fix this, or just stay at 1 star.

So far, our experience with the IRMS staff has been nothing short of amazing. The front office staff are always nice and helpful. The teachers have been amazing with my son who has ADD and is on a IEP. They are supportive of him and want him to succeed. They keep in touch with me and are always happy I'm involved (or at least seem to be) and very responsive.

We lived in Weston for 14 years and moved specifically to this school zone a year and a half ago. BEST. DECISION. EVER. I was so DONE with Weston schools who only teach to test and the staff only care about their scores. To be fair, my first two sailed through fine. My youngest has ADD and that "teach to test" method was excruciating for him. He hated school. He cried doing homework. It was miserable for all of us.

Fast forward to spending the last year and a half at IRMS - totally different kid. He is happy, he no longer dreads going to school, his grades are SO much better! Much of his work is online which he loves. His teachers are amazing. They work WITH me and are always professional and nice to work with. He has the BEST support at IRMS and I feel like the staff works WITH me instead of talking down to me and being condescending. I no longer hate my onsite meetings with teachers and support staff because it's obvious we all have one goal: making my son the most successful person he can be. THANK YOU IRMS!!

Just because this school is filled with white kids who pass the state tests does not make this a good school. It is overcrowded & offers few choices. There is little opportunity for students to explore their education beyond the 3 R s, science & social studies in terms of electives or after school clubs. Many of the teachers handle the curriculum unimaginably & do the minimum. Papers are graded arbitrarily. There is no communication. My child is in all gifted classes where supposedly the teachers are better. AP Brown is patronizing, rude, & disrespectful. They treat all students like prisoners who are the same when they are not. I don't trust the Principal. I know for a fact the administration has lied to me. If you have a child with SPECIAL NEEDS find another place for him. There will be no coordination of your child s IEP between teachers, little support, no training, no follow through, & absolutely no communication. The teachers will not follow the IEP. They have treated my child horribly. He has been bullied by the adults & traumatized. Don t be fooled by an A rating. I don t understand how anyone can give this school a good rating.

Please excuse my previous review i was rushing n texting! Im the mother of 8. I was a military wife. My kids have been to third world countries and have always been able to adjust to their new schools, homes , travel and teachers. but like i said my two daughters both despise this school. And you have kids doing same sex marriages at school . Teachers yelling at parents and students like i said before Horrible School and we pay alot to live in this district ! So if people are moving out here to the davie area because school id do a bit more research ! cant understand how its so expensive n yet we get a crap school.

I have finally graduated this school and I am so glad to be out. The food is disgusting as usual, there's always fights going on and the school gossips about everything. Teachers show favoritism, teachers give way too many tests and projects are pointless because most teachers just glance at it and give it an A. I was in advanced and I was pretty much at the same level as normal classes. I liked that all the cliques stuck together, if there were fights they were fights in the same clique. This school is eh, it's not great but it's not horrible. This school needs more supplies, my teachers begged us to bring in paper, pens, markers, etc. If your kid goes here, be prepared for lots of complaining from them.

This school is Horrible. How people are rating well is beyond me. This school treats your child as a prisoner. Your kid will grow up to be a criminal if they attend this school. Then Principal whonruns this school bullies young children and so does his fellow employees. My child was recently traumatized bybthis school and if I were a parent I would not take your child to this school at all.

Don't send your child to this school. Its not what you think. This school is hateful towards children and they make them clean tables in the cafteria without gloves so that the custodian and cafeteria workers don't have to. Its terrible what your child could be cleaning after 1800 students without gloves. So many diseases they can catch. PARENTS please be aware at school what they make your child do. They don't care because they get free labor out of your children.

This school was pretty good. I just graduated from the school this year ,and I have to tell you this school has a lot to offer. They have excellent extracurricular actives and great core classes. For the most part the teachers were great ,but there are always those few teacher that aren't so great. I wouldn't recommend students who are lazy or can't take challenges to go this school. The teachers demand a lot out of their student and the workload can be a lot,but the outcomes are outstanding. Over all this school is just amazing ,but has a few flaws but what school doesn't?

This is the BEST school. I graduated from it in 2012! This place made me actually LOVE school! I am not a nerd, it's just that the teachers were sort if laid back, and taught, yet they let us chill or do what we wanted as long as we payed attention. Except for the uniforms, it was amazing. The drama class is the best, the teacher let us have basically recess in that class, and we can do skits based on whatever we wanted. The Home Ec, teacher was the best too, there was a full sized kitchen. I took those classes. The students there are the best, I was sort of popular there, like I had many friends and I wish I could come back. I've made some friends for life there. It can turn a socially awkward kid that I used to be, into having lots of friends and enjoying the 3 years if middle school. The education is okay for me. I have so many good memories at that school.

My son is just about to finish his first year at IRMS (2013-2013). I have read the Great Schools Reviews and after my experiance at IRMS which includes listening to my son, following his grades, corresponding with his teachers, enteracting with office staff, participating as a chaperone and volunteering as an FCAT proctor ... I have nothing but great things to say about the entire school and all of the Staff. I would highly recommend Indian Ridge Middle School and would tell the school to keep up the great work.

My older kid went here, and my younger one is there now. They were both at the top of their class and have been very challenged. Be aware there is a *lot* of homework, but it is true reinforcement and not busy work. Kids rise to high expectations so I am grateful at these critical ages that the teachers and administration present the challenge. They become confident young people as they meet these challenges. And there are plenty of opportunity for parents to get involved and make a real difference too.

This school is terrible in so many ways! My daughter was beat up by a boy 2 yrs ago and he never even so much as received a detention for it! Now she is threatened by a group of girls. The same principal as with the previous event is still in charge of her grade & I know he will do nothing until she gets beat up again if at all, or worse she'll be suspended with them! All this and she has had teachers that sit on their ipads with out-of-control classrooms. They surf the web & shop at victoria secret during class! Her language arts teacher is frustrated that many in her class learned nothing from the teacher last year. This year her science teacher is the same waste of time. Who do you tell? They all have tenure so no one cares! If it weren't for parents and a few great teachers the students would be lost. I've had my daughter tutored throughout middle school.

This school has an excellent gifted program. Students' core classes are taught by gifted certified teachers that teach critical thinking skills on a very high level. One of our sons transferred from a reputable local private school to Indian Ridge in seventh grade and his latter experience at IR exceeded his private school experience both academically and socially. Now our younger son is in the IR gifted program and he is also having an wonderful, enriching experience. The teachers treat the students respectfully, and intelligently; preparing them for AP/honors high school classes. I also want to add that IR has an exceptional GEM program. ("Great Explorations in Math.") Again, there is no need to send your child to private school if your child is bright and you are zoned for IR. Take the $60,000 you would have spent and invest it in the college fund.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I just got off the phone with Indian Ridge Middle School (Davie- Florida)...beyond horrible experience like always. The staff is always rude and not helpful. They seem very aggravated by any phone call or question that a parent or student may have. I do not recommend this school to anyone. I don't really understand why they think they are such a good school. They are NOT!
