I've been to this school and although this school gives students resources to succeed and prepares us for college, there is an overwhelming lack of diversity here. A lot of the students come from upper-middle class hispanic/white families and are very privileged. Some students in this school look down on others for being different or even look down on other public schools saying that public schools are disgusting or horrible. Additionally, there is also an underwhelming amount of POC students in this school. I've been to both private and public schools and for student life, I would 100% choose to go to a public school.

This school is highlight relevant in education, where my twin has been connected on all specific courses or projects. - My twin gains a lot of skills and knowledge during their four years. Education is a plus for them. My twins received a lot of certifications, plaques,QUILL & SCROLL HONOR SOCIETY, RHO KAPPA SOCIAL STUDIES HONOR SOCIETY and awards from this school. This school is a good place to learn and keep your faith stronger.

I graduated from STA but my daughter wanted to attend Archbishop, and its much closer to our home. She is doing so well there, and even though the Excelsior Scholars program is so rigorous that she does have moments of exhaustion and irritation, there is no other place she would rather attend school bc she has nice friends, enjoys her clubs, and the teachers have been outstanding. She works hard and is proud of her accomplishments, the school definitely fosters academic achievement. St Thomas I always found to be a big sports school, especially football, whereas Archbishop there is a huge amount of emphasis on academics.

i hate it here and am planning to transfer to a school with friendlier and not the snobbiest kids on earth, here at this school you get judged if youre here on scholarship or really just anything you do and how you look. the guys and girls here are just terrible and are super fake. im very unhappy that the idea of leaving makes me happy

Leadership has focused on test scores, overlooking a well rounded student, athlete, performer, etc for the sake of "beating" nearby private schools.

The school finally hired a resource specialized in learning differences. Teachers and staff still have a learning curve on how to manage these students and their needs. They are making strides.

Academically superb school providing a variety of options for honors, dual enrollment and AP courses as well as plenty of campus experiences which students enjoy enormously. Nonetheless, they lack focus and investment on athletics, fine arts and service projects leaving many students short of a well rounded HS experience and resume for college applications. College advisors need more real world experience for the student-athlete or student-artist and seem stuck in a time from long ago when grades were enough to get you accepted or a scholarship. The school is due for new administrative leadership in order to take them into the next decade.

THE BEST school around. Tough Curriculum and very strict faculty/administration to teach proper discipline. Challenging academics, but teachers prepare them. They have various clubs, sports and campus ministry opportunities. Students get involved and have a great high school experience. Everyone including students, staff and parents are very welcoming to everybody. They have a great security presence and conduct many emergency drills. I recommend Archbishop McCarthy Catholic High School over any high school in the area.

I am very satisfied with the overall academic curriculum of this school. Excellent atmosphere for the overallgrowth of my child. Teachers and the management is always approachable and helpful. This institution is epitome of success.

My sons have been studying in this school since their childhood. I am extremely happy with the schools management, staff, teachers, and infrastructure. I have seen this school risen from its lowest down to the highest level with constant learning to achieve academic excellence. The school does not promote unethical practices like other schools. I would highly recommend this school to all the new parents to start their childs journey with Archbishop Edward Mccarthy High School. Its excellent. Super happy.

I was very happy with my daughters education and her years at McCarthy. The leadership is tough but very caring and open to speaking and listening to parents. My daughter participated in athletics through becoming an athletic trainer for all 4 years graduating in 2016. She is ready to go on to her next chapter "college"and all because of her last 4 years. Academically she was often pushed harder to do more and better. Last 2 years she participated in Debate which has really helped her grow. I am pleased with the education she has recieved.

The school is too strict and isn't really college prep. The only way it could possibly be college prep is that the classes are so hard that its not so much as a drastic change when moving on. The school seems to discourage honor classes by making the standards too high. There are a lot of acceptable teachers but there are too many that can seriously mess you up academically because they choose to make things harder than they have to be for no reason. There is a huge racism problem mostly toward African Americans (Im black and I've been called the N word multiple times and threatened to be lynched). One thing I can say is that if you can graduate as a top student here then you can go places, but otherwise it will make you look like a worse student than you might actually be.

I chose journalism as one of my electives I was suppose to receive, and health as the other, I got neither, I am stuck with a class that teaches you nothing, I contacted them two days before school started they told me to wait till the end of the week to see if a spot would be open, I have heard no response, and if I would like to change to another class it cost 100. It seems like you have to harass the guidence department to get what you want, I feel like I've been forgotten...

High teacher turn-over rate. Very snobby students, faculty, staff, and administration. Students are immoral, and many have a drug problem. Not a true Catholic environment. Not worth the money when many of the graduates end up at Broward College.

The good: mostly great teachers (they're great about weeding the bad ones out), fantastic education, a great variety of clubs and sports. Guidance is very good about helping with college, classes, or anything you might need. The bad: Administrative communication is absolutely terrible. Expectations for this school are also very, very high, which is something parents should take into consideration before putting their child in the school. Security is sub-par. The school WILL ask you for extra money as you go through the year (Maverick Games, for instance, a non-optional field day for the students, is $100. There's a schoolwide non-optional raffle that is also quite a bit of money) so be aware of what you're signing when you go to administration. As a student, there's more or less a place for everyone to fit in, but like most schools the clique problem is pretty prominent. In addition, there's not much school spirit. I'm sure most kids don't care about that, but it makes a difference when homecoming games roll around.

Archbishop McCarthy has challenged my former public school student in ways he never experienced before. Always an easy A student in advanced classes he has had to step up his game considerably to just maintain a 3.5 GPA. He is able to be himself and says his favorite thing about this school is the teachers. That the high expectations and respect they have for students inspire them to perform. Make no mistake, this school requires parent involvement and it is obvious everyone sending their kid here does it because they want the best for their child and are willing to sacrifice to get it.

Way toomuch micromanagement and too many inconsistancies in policies. The only thing that makes this school anything close to normal is the tremendous efforts of the coached and the fine arts department and how they constantly take us out of that school on trips, competitions, sports events, etc.. and make us see that their is and actual life. the administration is extreamly strict. I can say something good about this school. It has a great band program that actually represents our school very well. And thats about it!
