I have 2 kids that go to this school. One going into kindergarten and one going into 4th grade this coming up year. We love this school. My kids loved their teachers. My oldest is testing above grade level. The teachers and staff have been great. We plan on keeping them here until they go into high school.

There are no classes for students with special needs. Students who learn differently get no special help. There is after school tutoring but that doesn’t meet the needs of special needs students either.
This school should not accept students with special needs since those students are retained year after year.

Homework:
I used to go to this school and some of the teachers would give the students homework that they didn't understand or give them a lot of homework and expect them to finish it in a short period of time.
Teachers:
Most of the teachers are nice while a few others are absolutely rude. I had a few teachers growing up in that school that was absolutely horrible.
Character:
A few of these kids were disrespectful towards other students and the teachers and even the teachers would be rude back to them.
Leadership:
I would say that most of the kids have a strong ego and a lot of pride.
Bullying:
I wouldn't say that the school deals with bullying a lot because a few fights might break out and the school would just break out the fight and call their parents without giving them a punishment.

They barely do anything about bullying no matter what the children say about it. They have a conference with the students and that's about it. They don't understand that doesn't fix things no matter how they deal with it.

They don't care for the children and the lunches are absolutely horrible. Yes, some of the staff is amazing but the children here have to go threw halls that smell like sewage water and poop. Its unfair how these kids get their doors ripped off the hinges. The school may also be racist because of how most teachers seemed to point out the colored men and women of this school. They shout and yell at mostly the black kids for absolutely nothing and let uncolored kids get away with more things. Also for the special kids or disabled kids they let them get away with cursing at the teachers, walking out of classes, throwing chairs plus desks at students, and many more things. I get they are disabled yet special but they should have consequences like the other kids. Giving them multiple warnings will do nothing because they are not being punished.

Teachers turn the blind eyes to students actions.you have teachers yelling in the face of the students.you have teachers singling out students trying to get them suspended. they had a math teacher that was not certified or qualified to teach the kids and then blamed the kids for bad grades in math

I have a nice relationship with the principal. But as far as the school in general, I will not have my children return next year. They have a couple of good teachers but then you have the other teachers who don't care. Then you have the owner who yells at the kids and calls them failures

Overall our experience with this school has been terrible! This is our child first year here. The teacher that our child has should not be teaching young children. She her self is a bully and condescending. From the very first day of school she has been rude. In our very first metting with her she actually laughed at the progress our child had made. When my concerns were brought to the administration they went into full protect mode and brushed my concerns off. The communication is terrible with the teachers also. I am currently looking to transfer my child far far away from this school!

If they overhauled administration and got people in there who truly cared about the students and weren’t playing childish games and forming cliques amongst the staff, maybe the school would have a chance to thrive!

The school administration ignores bullying even after numerous complaints. We had no choice but to remove our child from this school among other parents who have had to do the same. This should be a serious concern for any parent who has their child enrolled in this school.

Very displeased with this school!! There is no accountability and some teachers treat students very poorly!! Not all teachers are bad here, but the administration does not like to deal with complaints, allowing some teachers to mistreat kids as they please. I've seen them change their teaching methods throughout the semester confusing small children and then take it out on their grades! Some teachers punish students for talking with other classmates by excluding them from the group for weeks at a time, and thus affecting the child's grades! And when parents reach out to these teachers for help they are plain rude and disrespectful! This is unacceptable! As a parent I have heard MANY complaints from other parents, but it seems the administration turns a blind eye to all the issues.

Not much needs to be said about this school here. Ask around and you will find out everything you need to know. Please notice that there are a bunch of positive comments about the school all in a row on January 7, 2016. That doesn't seem strange to you? I counted 9. As someone who was personally asked to write a positive report about the school by administration because there were so many negative ones I can say that seems like exactly what's going on here. They are losing more and more great teachers each year. Why would so many leave? It becomes clear that it is not a coincidence but a problem within.

My child learns so much from her teachers. My older daughter still keeps in contact with a few of her teachers from Royal Palm. The teachers go above and beyond what is expected.

Of course there are some days where my child may bring home a lot and others where they have none - they say they are an accelerated program so I'm not surprised to see it. My older child was so prepared for high school!

The teachers and administration give students chances to talk about how they are feeling and work through problems. It's not all about academics, but also do life skill lessons!

I love this school. My child has been here since Kindergarten and is now in 5th grade. The teachers and staff push the students to their fullest potential. The gifted teacher is amazing and I love that they are doing above grade level work within the classroom.

This is an amazing school!!! The teachers and principal are so caring, and really do go above and beyond for their students. The teachers are very friendly with one another as well as families, and are always smiling and welcoming. My daughter has never been happier since we brought her from public school, and is even now in the gifted program! This is DEFINITELY the school of choice!

Homework seems to be used because little instruction takes place in the classroom. We've talked to the teachers and while we don't know why, they describe a school day with very little instruction, mostly small group work that they supervise. While some kids may be ok with that, I think most kids need to be taught, not left to their own devices.

This school has gone downhill enormously since we started in Kindergarten. Teachers are making a mass exodus. One teacher actually walked out during fall festival, just quit. Teachers in some grades quit two weeks into the semester and weren't replaced for some time, though I believe they are replaced now. Students in 3-5 grades have a ridiculous amount of homework every night, and according to their teachers, the principal demands it. There are too many projects, also reportedly because the principal demands it. Kids should not have to spend 5 hours a night on homework, not ever, much less multiple times a week. We truly do not think our child learns anything during the school day, because we can't discern anything he's learning that we don't know for a fact we had to teach him. Two of his friends have been pulled out over the past six months. One is being pulled at the end of the year. We've just made the decision to pull him out after Christmas. We used to love the idea that he could remain here through the end of middle school, but if this school cannot handle 3-5, there is no way they can handle middle school.

Administration needs to change to improve the quality of the teachers and in turn the students behaviors and work ethics. Teachers are not supported and students know there is no reprocussions to being disrespectful to teachers or other students.

Most teach to the test and not yo the students abilities! A few teachers don't leave their seat when teaching and degrade some students. Principle does not back up teachers discipline issues.

Wow, what a huge difference. This is a great school. The teachers don't put up with any nonsense. This is the first school where our child has NOT be bullied. The teachers, principal and parents are completely involved on a daily basis. This school treats the kids like family, not a number. I know what the lesson plan is each day and the home work is each night. I know the grades each day. Each child in the middle school gets an e-reader and many of their books can be accessed on-line from the e-reader or at home from a computer. They have a ton of sports, clubs and activities for the kids to participate. There is tutoring available after school at no extra cost. The school is clean and the kids care about keeping it that way.

Royal Palm Charter School is an excellent school. It is Kindergarten through 8th grade. I have been involved with the school for several years and I only see it getting better and better. The education my children have received there has exceeded my expectations! The teachers, staff and principal strive to make education a priority. There are several after-school clubs available that help enrich and encourage the children. If you are looking for a friendly atmosphere where your child will excel look no further. The parent involvement and support help make this school a great school! If you want your child to have an advantage in their education over other schools in our area, this should be your choice for your children s school!

Royal Palm has a beautiful new building with cafeteria, library, music, and art. I am so thankful my child could continue her advanced education at Royal Palm with their middle school program. The teachers and staff are exceptional and caring. Feels like a family atmosphere, my children enjoy and feel safe here. I also love that Royal Palm offers many after school clubs and sports.

I could not be more proud to represent Royal Palm Charter School as a Kindergarten teacher for the second year in a row. From the moment I arrived on campus I knew this place would feel like a close-knit family and I was correct! The teachers truly care about their students and take the time to differentiate instruction so that all students have a chance to flourish at their own pace. Every student is guided toward their goals and provided with the assistance needed in order to reach their fullest academic potential at Royal Palm. Our Principal, Mrs. Shannon Shupe, has experience teaching multiple grade levels and thus, brings an attitude of hard work, dedication and an understanding of different family situations to her leadership role. She is easy to approach and will surely go out of her way in any way she possibly can for her staff, students and parents. Our Assistant Principal, Tresa Vernon, also brings many years of teaching experience to the table as well as experience being a Principal herself. I'm not understanding why a teacher would write such negative things about their place of employeement. I sure hope you are not one of my children's teachers.....I can't imagine if you are that unhappy, that you would provide a quality education for mine or anyone elses children. I have only been a parent at Royal Palm for a few years....and the things that you are talking about are inaccurate. I have never felt as if my children were not safe in the pick up or drop off line. My children love to eat outside and if the weather is not adequate, then the boys and girls eat in their classroom. There are no perfect schools, but the positives sure outweigh the negatives at this one. My children are getting an excellent education and that should be number one on any parents list.

- Does not have adequate parking. - Does not curtail bad student behavior or enforce their own rules and punishments. - Provides an extremely dangerous student pick-up environment. - Lunch room is outside, so students sweat while eating and deal with bugs. - Mathematics education is deplorable! Sixth grade still learning decimals. - No science books and not enough books to go around in other subjects. - A lot of the good teachers have left to other schools.

I have nothing but positive feedback about this school. The staff and teachers are great, and the classes are fantastic. My son has excelled exponetially since we moved him to Royal Palm. Why this other parent would rate it one star because she got a speeding ticket is ridiculous. The police are out there because Royal Palm is right on a busy road with minimal parking. 1+1=2. Maybe take some classes yourself?

This school is a good for your childern to have a strong learning background but as far as the police sitting in front of the school waiting to ticket the parents every month what gives no other school has this going on execpt for Royal Palm Charter School. Is there some kinda of a deal going on with the sherriff's department and the school's owner.

As a staff member I appreciate being a part of an atmosphere where my thoughts and concerned are valid. I appreciate just being able to teach and not jumping through hoops. I'm allowed to look at each student as an individual and plan my days as needed, not by what day/time it is and what the county said I should be doing...but rather by what my students truly need. I love the Core Knowledge program and appreciate being able to give my students a much broader education rich with history/literature and science. There is much more to life than just math/science.

If you look at the recent teacher turn-over, it says a lot about how it has been run. More than half of the main teaching staff is new this upcoming year. Even the teachers hate it.

I should give certain teachers a much higher score. Overall, the teachers are fantastic. The whole scores drops because of the pricipal and the management team. She (the principal) is extremely petty and childish. She talks about employees, students, and parents behind their backs. He (the manageron site) is a bully. I have seen him, standing over a teacher, yelling openly using profanity while students are present. The teachers put up with horrible treatment! The extracurricular activities are great, except for sports- nearly nothing (excpet soccer) when they can force a teacher to take on the responsibilty. The principal of 2010/ 2011 has managed to ruin the morale in the matter of ONE year, causing many teachers to leave or strongly look for other employment. If you want a loving school, this ISN'T for you. She makes this place uncomfortable. The other reviews must have been made before the current principal took over. PS: Most students don't fail in a charter school because of funding. Repeating a grade voids the funds the school gets from that particular student. Its all about money- not necessarily students drastic turnaround.

I currently have a son enrolled in Royal Palm and would never move him any where else. My before going to Royal Palm attended Country Beginnings and loved it. He went to a public school for a little while and let's just say i was not happy, he was failing and I was concerned. I moved him in to Royal palm and now he is on honor roll and also in the advanced math class. I would recommend this school to anyone that asks and think it is a great place for a child to go. My daughter goes to Country Beginnings right now and when she is old enough she will also be attending Royal Palm.
