My daughter is in 6th grade and so far the school, teachers and staff have been great. Other children in the neighborhood also have had a great experience during their time here. I think the school gets a poor score just because only negative people are putting in their reviews.

Teachers truly care about the students. The staff is very helpful from the moment you walk into the main office. The PTSA is very strong and communicates a lot with parents. Come meet the staff and you will see how great it is.

My daughter attends school at Davidsen as a 7th grader. She loves Davidsen. She loves that she has dance everyday and great teachers that love her. The faculty does such a great job of making students feel welcomed and valued, and they always put the students first. ItÂ’s a great place.

Be careful with your child at this school, serious cases of bullying are hidden, and children are not respected, they are creating delinquents

First year in, our daughter is doing well and seems to be content. She has made a few friends and they support each other in the awkward middle school-ness of it all. The administration is responsive and easy to communicate with. More parent involvement would easily lift this decent public school into a great one.

This school is not a good school for anyone to be at, the bullying problem is Horific and terible many kids always wanting to fight and other having to leave for getting physically beaten by other students and not only do the teachers not care but on top of that they gladly sit in the class rooms and talk about all this drama along with the students instead of teaching! They have not respect for these children at all and IÂ’m not a fan at all of these principles. My daughter got into a situation with another girl and one of the assistant principals waited until this other girl got into my diaghters face (and donÂ’t forget he was watching the whole time) and when they fight he does something when this could have been easily handled. On top of that my daughter is half deaf and she gets picked on by the students for it and the administration doesnÂ’t seem to care.

My son is in 7th grade and 2nd year at Davidsen. The teachers are great and they keep the children engaged throughout the learning process. The environment at this school is very conducive to learning and all about promoting great relationships between teachers and students. We love this school.

My oldest son is in his final year at Davidsen and my younger son just entered 6th grade. We have had nothing but positive experiences. The kids get a solid education in their core classes and are also exposed to wonderful art, music, culinary and technology programs. The principal is very hands on and the students take pride in their school. Davidsen is a great place for students and parents to develop a sense of community.

They don't let the kids get away with things--they are accountable for their actions and their schoolwork

Davidsen is an A-rated school and a 5-Star School. The admin and teaching staff here are incredible. Many have been here for years and wouldn't teach anywhere else. It's a very close-knit community. The principal has added structure and discipline but remains approachable and extremely flexible. It's a "slice of life" school that represents the real world and real families and life situations. My daughter and her friends have a lot of school pride. It's been a very positive experience.

Spanish is easy in High School if you have Mrs. Heath at Davidsen. Students leave her classroom being able to converse, present and conjugate verbs!!! You won t get that anywhere else in the area the kids that attended IB Middle School are struggling in IB High School. Mrs. Heath is tough but the kids are well prepared. If you have questions about curriculum see Mr. Streeter, Vice Principle. He has the most curriculum tenure of any Hillsborough county employee. He knows his stuff and is always approachable. We will always do the right thing for your child. If you have questions about class placement he is the man you see. Mr. Streeter is foundation that makes Davidsen GREAT!

Davidsen is a great school for students of all abilities. My son has all advanced honors classes and has really thrived and been challenged. They have robotics classes, computer classes, aerospace classes in addition to fantastic art and music programs that really inspire the kids. We have never experienced an issue at the school and we will send our younger son here as well. The teachers and administration care about the students and PTSA is very hands on.

Wonderful school with great teachers. All four of my children have attended over the years and done very well.

We have had three children attend Davidsen Middle School over the past 8 years. Throughout the years, certain things have changed but, overall we have had an exellent experience. The teachers along with administration are genuinely concerned with the success of the students academically and are always available to students as well as parents. The arts department is very strong at Davidsen and our children have enjoyed being part of the Davidsen band as well as fine arts. Davidsen has a uniquely strong PTSA and their presence is felt throughout the school, Davidsen supports community service by encouraging students to reach out and help others through charitable events or actions. Our experience with Davidsen has been a very positive one and one in which our children were fully prepared for high school.

Having had my girls in private school all of their lives, we had heard mixed review about Davidsen. When I asked my neighbors about the school, they all had good experiences and I never found any true negative issues to validate the rumors. My oldest started IB Magnet so we enrolled our MS child this year. I have to say it has been a wonderful experience. She had made alot of good friends that live in our neighborhood and has had the ability to take classes that were not available to her at the smaller Christian school. I love the opportunities she has been offered and she is now showing more interest in school and thrives in electives like Robotics & Art. Our primary hesitation was not having communication with teachers or admin but this has not been true. They have been amazing and have always been available to talk or meet at any time. The Admin has been wonderful also. We are very happy with the change and wonder if we should have done it sooner. My MS will be better prepared for the challenges of HS and life to come. None of the negative things I had heard about have ever occurred and she is in a safe environment. We are very happy and fully recommend the school. Go Dragons!!

Great school! My one child has already gone through and I have a second child at DMS. I is a great local public school, with lots of diversity (just like life), a fantastic band program, a very involved principal and a dedicated PTSA board. The moms are all about the students and the school, and they are really determined to provide the school with as much support as possible. Both my kids participated in the NJHS program and my older child is in NHS in high school...I think the school is what you and your kids make of it!

This is our daughters last year at Davidsen and it has been a WONDERFUL experience! The teachers, administration & staff are great. We have never had a problem with communication, discipline or academics. You must get involved to know what is going on -- there are plenty of opportunities available!

Great school! Principal is excellent which I believe keeps the teachers and faculty passionate about their jobs. We have been at Davidsen 3 years now and my kids love it. Many opportunities for parents to get involved, the PTSA is a great group!

Davidsen Middle is a great school. My daughter went to this school for 6th-8th and was very successful. My son is in his second year here. He loves it and the teachers have been really great and very caring. Yes, there is diversity at this school, but that is life in the real world. The office staff and principal have been very responsive to my questions. My advise, is no matter what school you choose, get involved so you are informed about what is going on and ask questions. I have no regrets sending both my children here and would recommend the school to others.

My son has attended Davidsen the past 3 years. He is an advanced Honors student and has done very well. The teachers and administration are fabulous. Their are tons of things for the students to be involved with, depending of their interest. He has lots of friends he knows from the Westchase neighborhood, as well as, many great new ones he has met while at Davidsen.

This school is a wonderful school if your child is not special needs that is ... My sister has been attending this school for about two years now and time after time we have problems! One time as punishment my sister was forced to stay after class to apologise to a teacher making her miss her bus and when she had told an administrator they told her to walk to 5.6 miles to our home.. Luckily I was on my way to work because I pass right by the school and there my sister was at the corner if linebaugh and montague crying her eyes out because she couldn't remember which way to go ! Another time a boy was calling my sister retarded and she slapped the boy the boy in retaliation punch my sister in the face and started to choke her knocking her glasses onto the floor my sister was suspended as she should have been but the boy was not. My sister is scared to go back to school now

This will be my son's last year at the school and that's sad because this has been a great 3 years! My son has soared academically! The teachers at this school are some of the best and the principal is the best we've ever had! The PTSA is the best one around! Get involved with the school from the beginning and you will see for yourself how wonderful this school is! Yes, there is diversity compared to the elementary school but that's the way it is in the real world! Give Davidsen a chance and you will not be disappointed!

Great school, this is my son's second year at this school. He loves it and the teachers have been really great and very caring. Yes, there is diversity at this school, but that is life in the real world. The office staff and principal have been great. This school was rated an A last year. My advise, is no matter what school you choose, get involved, know what is going on at your child's school and ask them questions about what is going on at school. We love it here!!

My daughter is a 7th grade in this school so far its been good. We dont live in the westchase area and really dont care for the area eighter but her teachers are caring and she is learning and haveing fun too. I just would like to see more difersity I belive that our kids make the school not where you live make how you are and i have heard from my daughter that there have been fights but this are girls from the area make trouble as it looks like they have nothing better else to do my daughter was pick on but that matter was resolve very quickly. but like i tell my child if is not with you do not get involved period! But other then that its a good school.

looks like the school staff logged into put 5 stars... no parents sending thier kids to this school seem to be happy... fights ?? Unacceptable. and unclean surroundings ...just unacceptable. no wonder the great schools rating is 6....

Davidsen has interesting dynamics for sure - half upper class kids from Westchase and half not-so-upper-class kids bused in from a few miles away. It'd be great if the school was made up of more Westchase kids and less bussed in kids but Davidsen is not a bad school if your child is in Advanced Honors and involved in things like band. If you want your child in with kids who care and parents who are involved, definitely go for the Honors classes and activities like band. It's sad that it has to be that way. Too bad Davidsen isn't like Westchase Elementary, which is what a neighborhood school should be!

Horrible experience, teachers are very disconnected from their students, Math in particular. We are very excited to be moving out of this area and having our kids start in a different school. I have heard numerous complaints about this school from other parents that pulled their kids, but didn't put to much into it. That was until my wife and kids experienced some of their students assaulting another student and an elderly woman. Authorities were involved and found the kids later that evening. This on top of their lack of academic consistency makes me question why I ever sent my child to this school. We have reached out to the teacher on numerous occasions and were given generic responses. A teachers job is to teach the students, and after hearing from our child and others, I question their intent. For being a Westchase area school you would expect much better. The elementary school was great, but cannot say much for the middle school. Teachers just do not appear to care about the students progress.

This is our first year at Davidsen and so far I have nothings but good news to report! Like most Westchase families we were a bit nervous based on all of the "rumors" that we heard. Fortunately, we had the good sense to ignore these folks (& save $$). Let's face it, middle school is a tough time and you need to feel your child is getting the best possible education in a safe environment. Davidsen has met these expectations. The teachers are committed to the academics, the music & sports are great and more families are giving it a chance. Thus, your child will continue their education with their neighborhood friends. We have a great school in our own backyard & there are plenty of opportunities for parental involvement. My child loves it and I'm glad we are there!

I have a 7th grader and an incoming 6th grader. My 7th grader was accepted to a nearby IB school for this year but turned it down because she loves Davidsen! It's nice to go to a neighborhood school with so many great kids from our elementary school. The classes are challenging, the school has a large NJHS and it is committed to academic excellence! Sports, field trips, uniform, academic recognition and awards, charity involvement it has it all! Most importantly it is safe and run with the structure and order needed for a middle school. I applaud Davidsen and it's faculty! Only regret - I wish the sports teams could accept more students...unfortunately limited.

i went here and liked it but there was this coach with a bald head and orange tan that always smelled like beer or alcohol last year. dude was wasted on a couple times i was in the locker room! slurred speech and everything. what a clown.

I have a 6th and 8th grader at the school. My kids have a had a great academic, athletic, band and social experience thus far. The staff and teachers are excellent. My only wish is that more parents from WestChase would give this school a chance instead of sending their kids immediately to private school. Davidsen has the potential to be one of the best in the area.
