Excellent! They are relevant and create environments for students that help them to grow academically. This school really cares about student growth in academics and the leadership is very strong. The Principal leads the way and is very outspoken an out front. You feel his presence when you pull up to the campus because he is highly visible. I've interacted with the teachers and administrators throughout my time of 3 children attending the school and I am impressed with the level of partnership and collaboration I experience. I'd recommend this school because they really care about my children and put forth the steps to make sure they are on the right track for college and my kids career paths in the future. No one is perfect, but they like to reflect and receive feedback from parents and often implements that feedback.

The teachers communicate homework out not only by giving it to students, but they also post the homework assignments on Class Dojo. The best thing is they give us a Weekly Family Checklist that outlines which assignments are due on which day! Love it!

All of my children have attended this school. Each have had teachers that care about them, are patient with them, and are strong in the content that they teach. My eldest son is now a junior at Jesuit High School and scored above the 90th %ile ranking on the standardized test he had to take just to enroll in that school. The teachers are truly preparing our kids for the future to excel at a high rate!

They have a social skills program that they use and teach students how to be self disciplined kids. They have core values that are instilled and practiced weekly. They use Class Dojo to award students points for meeting the values and skills they are working on for each week. I love it. On Mondays they hold Academic Pep Rally's and highly Students of the Week for each grade including Mandarin and PE and Art and Chess! They use what they call "Crescendo" during certain parts of the year that aligns to strong character traits the students, parents, and teachers all vote on to drive home good moral character and excellence during the toughest parts of the year.

The Principals and Assistant Principals are all focused on data! They are all graduates from RELAY a National Principals Graduate School that trains highly effective leaders in education. My sons Principal led the school last year from an F grade to a B in one years time. They guarantee at least ONE YEAR in Learning Gains to all students that attend and have met that goal each year my kids attended and still are doing that now.

They meet weekly to talk about the progress that students are making. The use MTSS (Multi-tiered Support System) to monitor and track the progress of all students and create lessons and exams based on student data that they collect daily and review weekly.

There have been issues where kids are mean to each other, but not a huge problem. The school principal and dean listens to my concerns and conducts proper and timely investigations of all kids and teachers to see who full view of what happened. They meet with us and give us what actions they have taken. I am satisfied!

Fair amount of homework, but not overwhelming.

Not all teachers have a lot of experience, but the more seasoned teachers help the new ones along.

We have students in both elementary and middle school. The change to learning at home during covid has really shown me how much the teachers are invested in my students and how hard they work. All schools were in a hard situation with these changes, but the village came up with a plan, tried it, and then made changes as needed.
ItÂ’s been a great experience.

Absolutely horrible!!!!! So many problems were encountered. First, the utensils used to serve school lunch were washed in the bathroom sinks. Four teachers, including myself, were not paid and had to file a lawsuit. The school claims that we weren't paid because we were not effective at behavior management. Upon my release, I was not able to return to my classroom to pack up. Instead, she had others pack up my belongings and set them outside. I am still missing lab equipment and school supplies. Students had no effective consequences for their actions. Leaving was the best thing that ever happened to me. Now my students are well-mannered, respectful and learning. I get paid regularly, and the school cafeteria is sanitary. I hope the VOEA gets their act together!

I wouldn't let my dog go to this school. The kids fight and they allow it. They don't suspend or kick the kids out. Your child is liable to get shot here. They allow kids to carry a weapon only to get ISS if caught. its not about this kids its about the pay check and the teachers aren't getting anywhere with the kids because the kids know once in the office nothing will happen. My child was bullied I regret signing her up to the school but glad shes out.

I have students in both building at VOEA and both had different experiences. My older child constantly had problems with other students, and little support from most teachers. His class was in one space meant for 2 classes, but with 3 teachers and no walls. It was lo7d. The did eventually give each class a room, but then could not keep a teacher. They had 3 reading, 3 math and after the science and social studies teacher left I don't think the got a new one. There was constant change in a major assessment year. The other building had k and 1 which both had mostly great teachers except 1, but still had a bunch of kids in rooms that needed walls. The best teachers were in k and 1. The reading teacher in first gave to much homework, but helped the kids with it after school. The math teacher was nice, but is learning to speak english and the writing teacher didn't have control of the kids. It was always crazy in that room. The kids could not hear the teacher they were with. The discipline policy is a joke. The teachers just had to deal with bad behavior. The office didn't do anything with the trouble makers. Also, the babies had p.e. in the parking lot on Busch with no gates to keep them out the road. Anybody could grab one of those kids and nobody. The were always sitting down while the coach was talking on the phone. The need to figure out how to get and keep good teachers and at least keep the kids safe. The principal needs to sir down somewhere and stop thinking she 'run the world'. She don't even let her kids go there anymore. She took her daughter out my kids class and she go to home school now. That should tell you something. They would be okay if they had some rules and could keep some good teachers.

This is my daughter first year attending VOEA and I'm in agreement that the school administrators does nothing about disciplinary actions when needed. My daughter was held in the restroom by some middle schoolers against her will in between school ending and going to the bible based after school program. We were told that we will be notified by the principal with an update on disciplinary actions for those 7 middle schoolers that took part in the incident. We have made numerous calls to the village and have not gotten a response yet.

This is a pretty good school. My daughter loves it although she was doing beter before she moved to this school but that could be my fault. The teachers here are great. Though they r vey ivolved in the students life n Ms. Gonzalez loves those kids to death n she loves them.

The Village is a school that truly aims to EMPOWER all Students. From those with behavioral issues to those outstanding academics, the school strives to create a self disciplined student that is able to utilize their own strengths to become an asset to our local and global community. They believe in providing students with multiple opportunities for success through teacher modeling of academic, social, behavioral expectations. This School is not the cure all for every family wishing to educate their child, however it is a wonderful institution for families willing to work toward Academic and Social Success.

THIS IS MY SON'S THIRD YEAR AT VOEA! I LOVE THIS SCHOOL! HE CAME FROM A PRIVATE SCHOOL AND WAS LACKING IN READING AND MATH. HE IS NOW ENTERING THE 4TH GRADE AND HAS COMPLETED HIS 1ST BATTLE BOOK! HE LOVES READING AND HIS MATH PROBLEM SOLVING IS COMING ALONG!!

Teachers lack support and administration is oblivious to the behavior problems and the square footage for a classroom.

Posted: November 25, 2011

This school has no discipline policy. The kids are allowed to do whatever they want. The administrative team does nothing to help the teachers. They stay in their offices all day.

This is only the third day of school, but thus far, i am NOT pleased! It's seems very disorganized. No one seems to be on the same page about anything. The staff and faculty dress as if they are people coming off of the street, the whole process of their school is wayward, so i'm really hoping that the teaching and education makes up for where they lack. They claim they are a "A" school, i'm guessing that is in academics, because everything else seems is very poor..it's not looking good to me at all, thus far anyway. hoping by the end of the year, my mind has been changed, or my child will NOT be attending this school next year.

i currently have to kids attending the Village of Excellence Academy and it has been a wonderful experience for both of them. My son was doing very poor int the traditional elementary school prior to transferring him to VOEA. Once he entered VOEA his grades change tremendously and he became very motivated to go to school. My daughter has also been doing extremely well at VOEA. The teachers at VOEA seems very invested into the kids performance and challenge each child to reach his or her potential.
