My daughter has been attending Sunset Lakes Elementary for 3 years and her experience has been amazing. The teachers and staff are loving and kind. ItÂ’s shows how much they care about each student as they they greet them by their name when they see them each morning and in the hallways. This school is a loving and fun environment for the children to learn. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful as well. I am a part of the PTSA and they truly are amazing and contribute much to helping out with the events. They have high achievers class as early as first grade to identify the high achievers and gifted children early for advanced classes. The music program is amazing- the room is filled with large variety of wonderful instruments for children to explore (violin, cellos, xylophones, triangles, guitars, ukulele, drums, drum set, piano). They have a big library with a large collection of books for children to read. Wonderful school!

Admin sweeps bullying under the rug. Admin more concerned with hiring pretty young teachers than retaining talent.

Principal covered up incidents of bullying and instead of protecting the victims, it re-victimized them. School board called, which deferred back to principal. Cadre leader called=total waste of time!

Does not punish aggressors, instead admonishes kids that try and defend themselves.

Awful. Pulled child out after years of attendance due to the lies and coverup spewed by this ineffective principal. Veteran teacher quit on him mid-year, kids were distraught, and all he cared about was finding another PYT to replace her-as he uses school as his dating site. Entire BC school board turned blind eye. School refuses to label incidents of bullying at school to avoid reporting. Leaving the school and entire district was the best choice made in long time!

I entered Sunset Lakes as a third grader after five years in a restrictive private school. I was immediately welcomed with open arms and was surrounded by a loving environment. All the teachers there truly care about their students. I flourished greatly and loved every minute!

My kids have attended Sunset Lakes for the past 4 years. The teachers have been fabulous-really invested in the kids' learning and thriving. My kids love school and are eager to go. The school encourages reading and math achievement at all levels through school wide programs that recognize kids who are reading a lot of books or achieving in math. There are multiple extracurricular available for the students--orchestra, chorus, math club, student government, robotics, WSLE(school-wide television news). There are frequent activities and fundraisers that encourage the children to think about those less fortunate and do something to help. Parents are encouraged to volunteer, both in the classroom and around the school and as PTSA members. The aftercare program is well-run and staffed by teachers and by college students who take great care of the kids. They have time for homework and participate in clubs and fun activities and sports.

My oldest daughter attended SSL from KG to 5th grade. She is now completing 7th grade and takes two high school courses because of how well her teachers prepared her. My youngest daughter is finishing 4th grade and has had an equally amazing experience. From the classroom teachers, to the office staff, the cafeteria ladies, custodians, and the administrationÂ… they all take great pride in teaching and caring for our children. Thank you!

Sunset Lakes Elementary is a wonderful and beautiful school. The buildings are always clean, fresh and the teachers and administrators are wonderful people. If there is problem they make sure to solve it In a timely manner. My children are very happy there. They offer many extracurricular activities and if your child needs improvements in their grades, they make sure he or she receives the help that your child needs. Is a gem of a school and I wish every single school would be like this one! Excellent principal! One of the best that I had seen in many years! We are lucky to be in this school and blessed!

My daughter was at Sunset Lakes Lakes Elementary for 5 years. I had her reassigned from a private school. What a phenomenal experience! This is an A+ school rated on the top 100 schools in Florida. I recommend this school to anyone that move to the area. The teachers are extremely dedicated to the academics, the school has state of the art technology, and there are no words to describe the administration. The office staff also is very accommodating and customer service oriented. Continue doing what you are doing Mr. Charpentier and Ms. Correa beacause you are the BEST OF THE WEST!!!

Sunset Lakes Elementary is by far one of the best schools in the state. I have never seen teachers so dedicated and enthusiastic about teaching and learning. They are the best in their district by far!!!! Please don't listen to negative responses. I don't understand why people would lash out at such an amazing school filled with such a caring and hard-working staff that only want the best for their students. Sunset Lakes is by far the Best in the West!!!

My son attended this school last year 2013-2014. Within the first 2 weeks of school he came home with bruises and fingernail marks around his neck. I contacted the school immediately, but they never did anything. Subsequently, he was kicked by a boy, which required medical attention. Again, nothing was don except the boy was not allowed to go on a trip, and the Primcipal did not find enough evidence to "substantiate bullying". Thank goodness most of the schools are under capacity, so I was able to reassign my son to a much better school in my opinion. He's now at Silver Shores Elementary where the Principal did his dissertation on bullying and upholds a zero tolerance policy.

I have only great things to say about sle I love the communication between the teacher and the parents, it is very clean, I find it very organized and great educational system. My daughter started this year to go to sle, I had to change her from silver lake elementary( she is assigned to that school) and let me tell you I see a huge difference between one and the other, I am extremely happy with sunset lakes elementary, the classroom my daughter is at have 18 students, and the teacher is great!!

The school is over crowded. Over 22 students in some classrooms, and a lot of yelling and chaos as one reviewer mentioned. All they care about are test scores, not the best learning experience for the students. There is a PTSA at the school that does not contribute anything to the teachers, or from what I see the students. It is one unorganized fundraiser after another. I have even witnessed members of the PTSA fighting loudly amongst each other in the hallway, which I find innappropriate. The school needs a lot of improvement.

My son just joined first grade in this school. Being a volunteer and being able to actually have a look inside the class while in session has been an eye opener for me. The teachers are extremely stressed in the classroom. Shouts and yells at all the kids, some kids get yelled at more than the others. Kids can be made to stand outside the classroom and become a topic of discussion among all the teachers. Many a times my kid has come home with wet pants, telling me he was not allowed to use the restroom in spite of asking her three times. Home works are given out as loose sheets of papers. If they fall out of the paper, kids are yelled at. Administrative staff at the front desk are some of the worst people to deal with. Especially an old lady with short hair. Best part is note is teacher's change in behavior as soon as kids parents shows up to pick the kids up at the end of school. Almost as if they have a split personality!

Overcrowded!!! My daughter is in a first grade class this year with over 30 students! How is a child supposed to learn? There are 2 teachers, but my daughter said they are always trying to get all of the kids under control and have little time to teach. We feel that she is gifted, and are very concerned that there are way too many kids in her class, and that she will fall behind because of it. Overall, I would say that the school does not follow the 18:1 student teacher ratio, and that is very concerning.

My two daughters have had the most wonderful experiences at SSL. The administration, support staff, teachers, and parent organizations work collaboratively to provide the best education for our children. My girls have been so happy. While one is now starting middle school, I am proud that my younger one will continue to benefit from their love and dedication to our community. It is an amazing school with a beautiful campus and loving staff. It feels like an elite private school. Thank you Sunset Lakes Elementary!

I just found out that my friend's child was bullied and attacked in this school, and nothing was done about it. I pulled my two children out because my 4th grader was bullied the entire 2013-2014 school year and the principal and assistant principal didn't do anything. They would not answer my emails or phone calls. Sometimes I would even stand outside his office, but he would not acknowledge this serious issue. I am fortunate my kids got into Somerset Academy and we will never have to deal with Sunset Lakes again!

Complete lack of transparency. That's all I need to say. Go for a reassignment at another local school or apply for charter schools such as Somerset Academy.

Sunset Lakes is a great public school. My daughter attended first grade and received excellent assistance for her reading and math. The teachers keep you informed, have websites, and use email for communication. I really felt appreciated the extra assistance from the staff in the front office. I think the only thing they could approve are on the lunches, but to give them credit I think all shcools private and public could use an overhaul in this department.

I have two kids in the school since I moved from NJ. I have a first grader who's been here for 2 yrs and a prek who has been there for 2 yrs also. In Sept 2013 my oldest will go to second grade and my youngest will start Kindergarten. What can I say, I love it!!! Beautiful school inside, clean, large, great teachers, beautiful mac computer lab. The administration is wonderful very helpful. The bus program is great and my kids belong to another zone school (panther run) but I don't send them there its not as sophisticated or up to date (tech wise). The academics at Sunset Lakes is also one of a kind. Kuddos...I love this school....

This is my second year with this school. The teachers are great. My daughters 3rd grade teacher is great to work with, good with communication and listens to parents concerns. My daughter is doing well in this school. The only issue I have is it is quite unclear how the admin decides to place the child in regular or advanced class each year. My daughter got an overall 93% in reading and math in 2nd grade. but was not placed in the advanced class based on the overall performance. upon request and meeting with the counselor the answers are not very satisfactory. The school has a Champ math program, information related to this is not sent to the parents. It is not clear the selection criteria for this program.

This will be the 3rd year my daughter attends this school and I couldn't be happier. She started in 1st grade and is now entering 3rd grade. Facility itself is very well-kept and safe. Admin is very helpful & friendly. They're constantly doing events to keep children and parents engaged. Principal & AP were amazing! I hope this year is even better!

I love this school and especially feel that the real difference is my child's teacher. She is superwoman!! I am proud to say that she may be the one who he looks back and remembers fondly for changing his world. It's hard in any school until your child gets a teacher that he or she relates to. Thanks!!
